OTK Boots = Wynsors Solemates

Tara always knows what I will like, we're constantly sending each other links to cute pieces online and she always gets it so right, so when Wynsors got in touch to see if we wanted to take part in the Solemates campaign and choose a pair of shoes for each other, I had total faith in my bud!

Tara chose these Wynsors Sasha over the knee suedette boots because she knew I'd been toying with getting a pair since Christmas but I needed the push! They're fab and I love them! I wore them for the first time to go see Zoolander 2 and one of the ticket chicks asked where they were from. I felt so fashion ;) I paired them with a knitted mini dress that night, but they look great over tight skinnies too soooooo, to the outfit! . . .

Outfit: Jacket - F&F, Top (just seen) - ASOS, Jeans - Wildfox, Boots - c/o Wynsors, Bag - Whistles, Necklace - Mi Moneda.

Boss The Scent

I LOVE men's fragrance, not just on men but in my nose! Tim and I can't resist a little whip around a fragrance hall and I always make a beeline for the new men's scents on display. They're always so spicy and warm, something I always think there should be more of in women's perfumes. Sure we get the sexy, alluring sweet notes but they don't hit the spot for me. I guess that's the sign of a good perfume, if it attracts the opposite sex, but surely that's not the sole reason we all choose a fragrance?

Anyhoo, Tim is a Boss man from head to toe, so when it came to this year's Valentine's gift I knew exactly what to get him, the new men's fragrance from Hugo BossBoss The Scent.

Boss The Scent Review

The 50ml is priced at around £45. It's everything I want in a men's fragrance; warm, spicy and sexy, not your usual Boss scent which I would usually associate with a fresh, sporty and everyday scent. This is more grown up, and a really welcome turnaround from Boss. The notes include Ginger, Maninka and Leather and the bottle represents a cage, capturing the spirit of seduction before it unleashes it's power - RAWR! ;)

Boss The Scent Review

This is definitely a repurchase, which doesn't happen often in our house. Neither of us have a 'signature scent', we're a bit loose and free with our fragrance, so this is kind of a big deal ;)

Do you have a favourite scent, male or female? Please share!

SS16 at Quiz Clothing: Pink Flower Embellished Maxi

Thursday, 25 February 2016

Is it just me or is everyone else ready for SS16 clothing!? It's been so cold, wet and horrible recently but all I want to do is wear pretty pastel maxi dresses and frolic in the spring/summer sunshine. I'm getting lots of wear out of my winter knits but I'm totally over layers now, I want to embrace feminine frocks like this beautiful maxi from Quiz Clothing.

Quiz have so many awesome new ins at the moment and I'm currently looking for a dress to wear to Jade's wedding in September! I'm ignoring the fact that I'm getting married in just under 3 months & haven't sorted everything. Priorities, right?

Stylish Wedding Guest Outfit
Quiz Pink Flower Embellished Maxi
Quiz Maxi Dress

Dress: Quiz (c/o) - Bracelets: Chlobo

I'm pretty much in love with this pink flower maxi dress. I'm wearing the size 8 which fits perfectly and is extremely comfortable. That's the best thing about maxis, you look like you've made an effort but really it feels like you're wearing pajamas. It's definitely comfy enough to see a wedding guest through the day and into the early hours of the next morning! It also costs the fraction of a Coast dress. Lazy dressing = winning. Who's with me?

If anyone is interested in a quick wedding update, the gym has become my second home because it turns out I ate too many cakes over the past year. Whoops? The invitations should be going out next week, 1 of my 5 bridesmaids is still without a dress, I'm meeting with my florist in about 7 weeks, we can't decide on a first dance song, we're yet to meet our photographer and videographer and we're honeymoon-less because we* keep changing our minds.

BUT I know it will all work out in the end. It will be a African/English/boho fusion in a barn in the Cotswolds with lots of flowers. I have major Pinterest goals but with no bunting in sight. My biggest fear is crying during the vows which will be on film FOREVER (or crying during the speeches). I'm also terrified of being filmed but our videographer is on another level. Think cinematic movie. Oh yes.

What do you wear to weddings? Are you bored of winter clothing?

T - Busy bee.

*OKAY, fine. I keep changing my mind.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps

Wednesday, 24 February 2016

Dr. Bronner is one of those brands that I have spotted whilst out and about but have never tried, so when the offer came in to sample the range I quite fancied it! Peppermint is one of my fave scents, especially in the bathroom, it's so refreshing yet calming at the same time, so I couldn't wait to try some of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint goodies.

Dr. Bronner Peppermint review

Dr. Bronner's Peppermint products are made with organic peppermint oil, is ethically sourced and cruelty free. Peppermint oil is known for it's healing abilities, and as I've recently been hammering away at the gym, I figured it would be handy to have these in the bathroom!

The Peppermint Leave In Hair Conditioner (£7.99) is beaut, leaving hair soft and smelling amazing. It's fab for the boys too as they can just comb it through and go (Tim rarely uses a hairdryer so this is perfect for him).

Dr. Bronner Peppermint review

The 18 in 1 Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap (£5.99) is crazy! The label really does list multiple ways you can use it, including everyday body washing, teeth cleaning, laundry, massage, pest spray and household cleaning! Say whaaaaaat?! How can it be used on your skin and also on your kitchen worktops I hear you ask? Well due to the varying degrees of dilution required, but it's perfectly safe for all the listed uses, and probably more! I am sticking to using it as a bathing product though, I like to add a couple of drops to a bubble bath for a head clearing peppermint hit, and that's really all you need so it will last for ages :)

Dr. Bronner Peppermint review

The Peppermint Organic Lip Balm (£2.69) is yummy. Probably the mintiest I've tried, and it feels super moisturising on the lips, like a jar lipbalm in stick form, so good!

Dr. Bronner Peppermint review

Finally, the Peppermint Bar Soap (£3.99), you can literally use this on anything and anywhere! Bar soaps are traditionally though of as drying on the skin and old fashioned but Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps are the opposite of that. I've been using this as a basin soap for a week or so now, using it on my face for a quick refresh, hands and even my fringe when I don't want to wash my whole head! Also, after a bit of scouting around on tinterwebs for other uses, I found out that people love this stuff for cleaning make-up brushes and sponges, so I gave it a go and I can confirm that it is insanely good. All my Real Techniques came up beaut and like new, and it was so easy. It's a bit of a legend, so for £3.99 you should defo take a peppermint punt on this!

Dr. Bronner Peppermint review

After trying the Peppermint range I now definitely have my eye on the Rose range for something a little softer on the nose. Love the packaging too, olde worlde apothecary style labels look so cool on a bathroom shelf!

Big thanks to Dr. Bronner for the intro :)

Cellini: Jane Shilton Indiana Drawstring Back Pack

Tuesday, 23 February 2016

These photos were actually taken on Valentine's Day, when I thought it would be romantic to dress like a witch. There's just something about a black maxi which makes me go weak at the knees, especially one covered in stars. Luckily for me, Sam also loves my witchy vibes.

I decided to add a splash of colour to my look by wearing my trusty teal fedora (which kept blowing away in the wind = FUN) and my beautiful new Jane Shilton backpack from Cellini, a luxury handbag and travel luggage store. I have a couple of leather backpacks, but this little beaut is by far my new favourite. Hubba hubba.

Harington's Boutique Hotel & Apartments in Bath

Two weeks ago I took the short 12 minute train journey from Bristol to Bath. I always love visiting Bath, it's so charming, as soon as I set foot off the train from Bristol I feel as if I'm stepping into a Jane Austen novel.

After navigating Bath's cobbled streets (and after a *quick* detour to the South Gate shopping area), I soon arrived at the Grade II listed Harington's Hotel for an exciting blogger event. Although Bath is really close to Bristol, I have stayed overnight a few times but never in a boutique hotel like Harington's. Located on Queen's Street, it's right in the centre of historic Bath.

A Camera Day Out at Chester Zoo

Tuesday, 16 February 2016

You may or may not know that Tim and I are getting married at Chester Zoo in September? It's our fave place to visit together, and such a great day out, so it made sense to have the most important day of our lives together there! Chester Zoo does some amazing conservation work both at home and abroad (with field projects running in over 50 countries worldwide), and the 500 different species (of which about half of these are endangered) of over 20,000 animals who live on the 125 acre site are loved and cared for by the staff as if they were family. It quite rightly deserves it's reputation as the UK's number one zoo, and we loved the idea of having our wedding there, with the cost of the venue going straight back into the zoo itself. Thanks for having us guys!

Anyhoo, on Sunday we went to discuss some more plans with the fab events team, and afterwards we went scouting for potential photo locations for the big day. The zoo is even bigger now with the addition of the new world class tropical 'Islands' project which looked so awe inspiring in the pretty winter sun light, and we had an amazing time snapping our way around the whole site. The weather was crisp but clear, and all of the animals were feeling a bit posey so we got some amazing shots. Tim has recently bought himself a 70mm-300mm lens for our Nikon D5300 so this was the perfect time to get some practice with it. To the pretty ones!

The king of the jungle, or 'Mufasa' as we heard one little girl inform her dad. True though, what a handsome guy. Iblis is an Asiatic Lion, an endangered species with less than 350 left in India, he lives with two females and is an important link in the breeding programme.

New Look Menswear: Valentine's Day Outfit

Sam's back! It's been a little while since Sam has been featured on the blog but he's back today with a brand new Valentine's Day outfit. New Look recently set me the challenge of styling Sam, which I happily accepted! Any excuse to get him back on here. After being together for over 11 years, I like to think I know him pretty darn well. He's isn't a fan of logos, prefers high street to designer and isn't afraid to bush boundaries.

It's worth mentioning that the rain hasn't stopped for the past two weekends. Instead of calling these blog photos off, I knew Sam wouldn't mind using a beautiful pink heart umbrella by Love Umbrella for these shots. I love how confident he is and I think you'll agree, he worked this girly brolly like a pro.

K-Swiss at Wynsors Shoes = Solemates

Wednesday, 10 February 2016

Valentine's Day is almost upon us and I want to take this opportunity to talk about my soulmate solemate, Jade. Although we both have very individual styles, we also like a lot of the same things. We both have a shared love of Wildfox, Free People, leopard print, leather jackets and badass trainers.

Wynsors recently got in touch to ask if we'd like to collaborate with them on their latest 'solemate' campaign where we secretly pick a pair of shoes for each other! Jade knows me SO well, I completely trust her to choose things for me to wear so it was no surprise she completely nailed this challenge. Introducing, the adorable K-Swiss trainers Jade selected for me:

SensatioNail LED Gel Nail Kit Review

Tuesday, 9 February 2016

I've been using home gel nail kits for almost 2 years now and I'm a complete gel nail varnish convert - I no longer buy regular nail varnish! There are a several different options on the highstreet and I've tried a few, the most recent being the LED gel nail lamp by SensatioNail.

Why choose gel nail polish?

It lasts longer. I may work in an office but I'm forever chipping my nails (typing on a keyboard can be tough) & SensatioNail claims to last up to 2 weeks! Getting Shellac can be an expensive habit so I'd much rather save cash and do it myself.

Sometimes you get your paws on something and you just really want to share it with someone, but you can't find a reason to other than, guys, I really love this?! So I thought to hellz with it, I'm going to show you a few bits anyhoo :)

First up, these mad fab Mean Girls socks that my BFF Stephy got me for my birthday. How adorable are they? I haven't even wore them yet because I can't bring myself to hide them under trousers or boots, they definitely require some cute heels and a sunny day to really do them justice! I think they're from ASOS if anyone fancies a pair themselves :)

You can just see the furry bag T got me behind them, also from ASOS. It's pastel perfect and I think I might be able to use it for her wedding in May. Can you see it with a pale pink dress maybe? I don't do florals so this would be the best way to get a bit of me into a pretty wedding look!

Somedays Lovin The Silence Knit Poncho + Mi Moneda

There's just something special about aussie brands! Australian women are so darn fashionable, they just ooze natural, laidback style. A few of my favourite designer brands include MinkPink, Spell & the Gypsy Collective, For Love & Lemons and the one I'm wearing in today's post - Someday's Lovin'!

This bohemian geometric poncho is the latest gem to make its way into my wardrobe. I'm always 40% more interested in a piece of clothing if it's maxi length, and this cardigan has length for daaays.

Damart Sportswear

I am now in full get fit mode for our wedding in September. Think healthy eating combined with at least four times a week at the gym, and I'm already seeing positive results so it's getting addictive. I'm not yet at the body confidence stage (for me) worthy of some top notch gymwear purchases, so I'm usually found in the same few pairs of leggings and loose tshirts, but Damart sent me a fab bit of kit from their Damart Sport range and it's really upped my gym bunny game!

The Body Activ 3 Ladies Pants (£29) are amazing! Designed for breathability and optimized comfort, these seamless pants adjust to the contours of the body and act like a second skin, wicking moisture away. You could easily wear them alone under a tshirt like I do, or under a cute pair of running shorts as a base layer. Either way, they're very flattering and I'm enjoying them immensely!
