Womens Black Levi's Sherpa Jacket

After watching Stranger Things, I got it into my head that I wanted a black Levi's Sherpa jacket. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one for women, so decided to live vicariously through Sam by buying him the men's version. Lucky guy, right? I still wanted to embrace my inner Nancy Wheeler so ended up buying a high street version which I rarely wore, because my heart just wasn't in it.

Fast forward six months and I've finally managed to get my paws on this Levi's denim jacket, complete with Sherpa lining! Good things really do come to those who wait because I even got it on sale. A complete bargain at just £55 instead of £110.

Is it spring yet? Okay, so I know it's *technically* still winter and if I'm being honest, this is the coldest it's been in months, but I am absolutely ready for spring. Yes, I do enjoy a muted wardrobe during the colder months, but January can be depressing and one sure way to keep chipper is to embrace colour. Who needs beautiful sunshine and sand between your toes when you're wearing a cheery yellow ribbed bardot jumper, am I right!? A-hem.

Another way to counteract the January blues is by wearing sparkles. Sometimes if I know I'm going to have a particularly challenging or difficult day at work, I'll pop on one of my favourite pieces of jewellery in the morning. Whenever I need an instant pick me up during the day, I'll just fiddle with my sentimental piece for a few seconds and I'll feel better - like it's a talisman. Does this trick work for anyone else?

Bristol Street Style: Dr. Martens

Happy hump day! Today I'm back with another Bristol street style post. I prefer taking outfit posts when I'm out and about rather than indoors, but unfortunately the weather doesn't always play ball. Thankfully, the rain held off long enough to grab some quick shots by the harbourside. As mentioned previously, I was pretty much spoilt at Christmas and on my Birthday, so I have lots of new items to feature.

This ridiculously soft coat is another Unreal Fur beauty, gifted to me by a favourite. The Milky Way Coat has a gorgeous grey & black shaved effect. I really like the textured look and how good it feels on - it's even softer than my others! I'm wearing the XS but it definitely fits more like a small. Unreal Fur is *possibly* my third favourite brand of all time. If you're interested, you can find out more about the designer in one of our old posts.

Autumn/Winter Style: Zara Lace Midi

So, I don't know about you guys but I have shopped non-stop for the past 2 weeks. The sales have been amazing, and I was given lots of gift cards and some cash for Christmas/my birthday. People think having a birthday in January must be awful but it really isn't... I get the best presents! I was well and truly spoilt this year and scooped up some fantastic pieces during further reductions.

After complaining my local Zara store's sale was weak, I managed to score this black lace midi dress for just £13. What a bargain.

My Pre-Party Routine

Wednesday 4 January 2017

The past few weeks have been full of celebrations. First Christmas, followed by New Year and tomorrow, is my birthday. Huzzah! During December I consumed a lot of food and attended quite a few parties. I love getting dressed up in beautiful frocks and wearing lots of sparkles but as every woman knows, it's hard work getting party-ready.

Everyone has their own pre-party routine, but today I'm sharing how I get ready for an evening out. I'd be interested to know what your routines are too, and discover how they differ from mine. I probably take about 1.5 - 2 hours to get ready because boy, do I hate rushing (and Sam knows it).

So here goes! How I prepare for a party:

1. Have a shower/bath and wash my hair. Obviously. If I have extra time, I'll light some candles and have a relaxing bath.

2. Moisturise. I smother my skin in lotions and potions and treat my hair to some liquid gold.

3. Put on a pair of clean jammies. I remember visiting a friend's house when I was a young teenager and seeing his older sister in her PJs, getting ready for a night on the town. I remember this moment clearly because it seemed so weird but at the same time, made a lot of sense. For more than 10 years, I've worn pyjamas when getting ready to go out. I adore this Pretty Secrets floral set shown below (currently in the sale) and prefer silk or satin over cotton.

Street Style Photography: Canon EOS M10 Review

Monday 2 January 2017

For me, the hardest thing about being a style blogger is lugging a big DSLR around. Don't get me wrong, I love my baby and the images it produces are worth it, but boy is it a chore carrying that thing through the streets of Bristol. I've often contemplated buying something a little smaller, and considered *that* camera every other blogger has, but I'm glad I waited for just the right model for me.

Small enough to fit in my handbag, lightweight and extremely powerful, the Canon EOS M10 ticks all the right boxes. It comes complete with a flip screen, creative assist features and Wi-Fi sharing - which makes sharing to Instagram quick and easy.

The proof is in the pudding, so I took my new compact camera for a test drive with the aim of snapping some outfit shots featuring one of the hottest A/W trends - faux fur! Keeping cosy but making a statement = my kind of style. An added bonus of using a compact is it draws less attention than a chunky DSLR. These photos were taken in just a few minutes and captured in very low light, which impressed me as my nifty fifty lens on my other camera, wouldn't have worked so well.
