SS17: Melinda Maria at Jewelstreet

Sunday 15 January 2017

Is it spring yet? Okay, so I know it's *technically* still winter and if I'm being honest, this is the coldest it's been in months, but I am absolutely ready for spring. Yes, I do enjoy a muted wardrobe during the colder months, but January can be depressing and one sure way to keep chipper is to embrace colour. Who needs beautiful sunshine and sand between your toes when you're wearing a cheery yellow ribbed bardot jumper, am I right!? A-hem.

Another way to counteract the January blues is by wearing sparkles. Sometimes if I know I'm going to have a particularly challenging or difficult day at work, I'll pop on one of my favourite pieces of jewellery in the morning. Whenever I need an instant pick me up during the day, I'll just fiddle with my sentimental piece for a few seconds and I'll feel better - like it's a talisman. Does this trick work for anyone else?

These wonderful bangles are from a US brand called Melinda Maria. Funnily enough, MM was one of the first designers we ever featured - back in 2010! This brand has been spotted on Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Lauren Conrad and many more stylish celebs. It's relatively affordable and Rawr faves Jewelstreet have an awesome selection.

My favourite of the two is the Olivia Moon Cuff Bangle as I have a real thing for celestial jewellery and clothing, at the moment. I think it works perfectly with the Norah Stone Bangle and because Melinda Maria is designed in Los Angeles, it strangely makes me think of Venice Beach... at night ha ha. I have another two MM bracelets so I'm sure they'll end up in a future style post. If it's good enough for Vanessa Hudgens...

I also had a bit of a footwear splurge earlier this month and bought my first pair of Puma trainers for more than 15 years. I can't believe how much I'm feeling these sneakers, the suede snakeskin print is really unique and because they're so neutral, they go with pretty much everything.

How do you keep cheerful in winter? What's your favourite jewellery brand? - T.
