Mi Moneda Verano Bracelet + Summer at House of Fraser!

I hope this beautiful Summer last foreeeever! I've never worn so many pretty frocks in one year. Last week I was sent a tiered mint floral maxi dress from House of Fraser, they are well known for their premium brands but they also have a lot of affordable ranges from brand partners such as Miss Selfridge! I haven't bought anything from MS since I was a sweet young thang, but I couldn't resist this delicious mint green maxi which is an absolute bargain.

I love mint for SS14, one of my favourite brands Mi Moneda recently launched their new Verano bracelets and I was lucky enough to get my paws on the mint version! Double the minty goodness = double the awesomeness.

I opted for this tasty colour combo but the Verano bracelet is also available in champagne, mauve and peach. Like the Mi Moneda rings, the XS coin (or Moneda) is interchangeable allowing you to create a completely different look by just switching a coin! Mine is engraved with 'Live the life you love, love the life you live'. They have lots of UK stockists but you can also just shop online via their official website.

There are a lot of Mi Moneda copies on the market but I urge you to buy the real thing and support the original design team. I think it's great that they keep coming up with new pieces, I honestly can't wait to see what's coming next!

Do you shop at House of Fraser? Are you a fan of Mi Moneda?

bareMinerals Bristol Beauty Blogger Event!

Tuesday, 29 July 2014

Last Friday, I attended a VIP bareMinerals Bristol Beauty Blogger Event in House of Fraser, Cabot Circus. I was first introduced to the brand back in 2008 when I wandered into a Sephora in SoBe (Miami) looking for something to stop my face melting off. Thankfully one of the chipper American Sales Assistants suggested bM and I was able to party with a shine-free face!

I stopped using Bare Minerals about a year or so ago, so it was nice to be re-introduced to the brand and educated in a really fun and informal way! There were nibbles and treats on hand while the lovely Ashton talked us through the history of the company and gave us an overview of the products.

I'm quite conscious of what I put on my face and the Bare Minerals foundation, Mineral Veil and Warmth are made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients. The foundation is proven to improve your skin over time, it's lightweight and has surprisingly good coverage. It's definitely worth investing in a starter kit if you're a bM newbie and fancy giving it a go - my first kit lasted for agggges!

We were each treated to a Make Under, Joseph created a really natural look for me which was so easy to achieve! During the event we were invited to try out different products and it's pretty safe to say we were all obsessed with the Marvelous Movie Hypnotist (Colour Changing) Lipgloss. Seeing is believing with this awesome gloss, it makes me think of unicorns and is definitely on my WANT list. Waaah!

I've been impressed by their skincare in the past, I really like their Renew & Hydrate Eye Cream and I have their Active Cell Renewal Night Serum ready to try, but next on my list is the Pure Transformation Night Treatment! This product sounds magical, it's a concentrated powder (weird, right?) which has been clinically proven to reduce pores, improve skin texture and it's anti-aging! It comes in 4 different shades including clear and I can't wait to give it a whirl.

It's always nice to meet new faces at blog events, shout out to Beky Lou, Eltoria Secrets, A Simple Melody and Maliberry Makeup - it was super to meet y'all! Payday is just around the corner so I know I'll be investing in a new starter kit soon. We were each given a goody bag and even had our nails painted by the lovely team at Estée Lauder...It was such a fun night! If you live locally, head into House of Fraser and check out the bM concession, Ashton & Joseph are the sweetest and are both so knowledgeable.

Have you used bM before?

T - My love for bareMinerals has been reignited! Thanks for the invite guys. ♥

#OOTD - Ripped Boyfriend Jeans, Wildfox and Ravel Wedges!

What did you do at the weekend? Well, . . I broke in my brown wedges . . . :)

I love the LA actress/model/stylist look of old forever fave denim, the beat up tee and brown leather wedges, so when the Ravel Kennedia Wedges landed on my doorstep, I knew exactly how I wanted to style them up! It's a simple look, but one that I felt both comfy and kinda hot in.

Outfit: Tee - Wildfox, Jeans - Levi's, Shoes - c/o Ravel, Jewellery - Mi Moneda, Watch - Breo.

uk blog post outfit of the day Ravel wedges levi's 501 wildfox tshirt

They're SO comfortable, to be honest they didn't take much breaking in at all! The wide leather straps are super soft and don't cut into my skin at all. I love the criss cross detail and gold buckle, they'll look really cute with skinny jeans and dresses. The raffia patterned heel gives a nod to poolside chic too, so you could really get your JLo on at the beach! I kept my nail polish to a simple gold but these shoes would also really pop with a hot orange or pink.

Do you like this simple look? How would you style these shoes for an everyday look like this? Bear in mind that I'm not really a skirts and heels girl unless I'm glammed up and going out ;)

How was your weekend guys? Isn't it just too hot to trot? I can't deal, I don't want to be a sad Sally but I kinda just want to feel some rain sometime soon!

Benefit - They're Real Push-Up Liner Review!

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner Review
c/o Benefit

I've been a huge fan of Benefit cosmetics for the past 10 years, I love trying out their new products and I was recently sent this little bundle to review! First impressions were really good, if you've read another blog review you may already know that this package came with a working video (you just insert a USB cable and BOOM, it plays) ...Seriously. Bonus points for creativity!

They're Real Push-Up Liner
I don't usually use liquid liner, I tend to use a pencil eyeliner for quickness or a gel liner if I'm feeling fancy. I don't have the steadiest hand in the world so I was a bit apprehensive about trying this! Thankfully, it's extremely easy to use. The rubber tip allows you to get really close to your lashline (something I sometimes struggle with) and because it's a pen, application is just approx 19191 x easier. When I first swatched it, I was shocked that it wouldn't budge when wiped. This stuff is heavy duty and hella long-lasting - result! Figuring out how to get the liquid out wasn't the easiest...Thank goodness for Google. *Apparently* you click the base 1-2 times to and then the gel appears, but on the first use I probably had to click it about 10 times before anything happened.

I still require a lot of practice before I get the perfect application, but next time I wear it in an outfit post I'll be sure to mention it! I think it's a pretty reasonable price for a Benefit eyeliner which is so long-lasting. It's obvious a lot of thought went into the design of this, those Benebabes sure know their stuff! Would I recommend it? Hellz yeah if you have a steady hand!

They're Real Mascara
I was also sent a mini version of the They're Real Mascara which I've already been using for a little while. I know this mascara has been heavily raved about in the blogging community, but anyone who has it knows how darn stubborn it is to remove. Although the added volume/lengthening is undeniable, fighting to get it off every night (and losing a lot of lashes in the process) completely put me off. I was team BADgal all the way. UNTIL...I tried this little product:

They're Real Eye Makeup Remover
TA-DA! This makeup remover is a must-have for anyone using the They're Real Mascara or Eyeliner. Ooooh boy. Battling to get your waterproof mascara/eyeliner off is a thing of the past thanks to this baby! It removes eye makeup with ease and has made me fall in love with the mazzie. Double win. I can now have awesome statement eyes without the fear of taking half my eyelashes off before bed.

Have you tried any of the They're Real collection? Are you a fellow Benebabe?

T - Hella impressed.

Rawrgirls Review . . . Artdeco Camouflage Concealer!

I'm enjoying this product so much that I just had to do a quick show and tell in it's honour! The Artdeco Camouflage Cream concealer is water resistant and long lasting for perfect coverage and the selection of colours are designed to work together so you can mix them up easily to perfectly match your own skintone. I picked up no. 15 Summer Apricot to start me off and I couldn't be more impressed. The little sliding window packaging can be popped into one of Artdeco's refillable beauty boxes but I find it sturdy enough as it is, maybe when I get another colour then I'll invest :)

artdeco camouflage cream review sweet apricot blog review swatch

It truly does last all day even in this sweltering summer heat, and I'm using it on blemishes, under the eye, and to lighten cheekbones and chin etc. Camouflage Cream is, for me, the perfect concealer. You can even lighten the texture with a little moisturiser and apply all over, it's so versatile and I'm not joking when I say that I don't think I'll ever buy another concealer again!

Available at Debenhams and Beauty Bay and priced at a super reasonable £8.50 each, I'm definitely investing in a few more colours next time I'm in Debenhams Liverpool One.

Skullcandy Knockout Floral Headphones Review!

I love music. I've been to some awesome festivals this Summer and I've even created a playlist to remind me of all the fun I've been having over the past few months. My boyfriend and I both like to try out new headphones, we're building quite a collection and my latest pair are specially designed for women! Ooooh yes.

Skullcandy are well-known for designing great quality statement headphones and this time they've even outdone themselves by creating knockout headphones for women. Perfectly shaped for smaller ears and with a more natural sound, they've also designed the headband to have less clamping force so messy headphone hair is a thing of the past.

They come in 3 different colours, my favourite being the floral knockouts I'm sporting. I hope you like this floral print as much as I do, it's so feminine but still edgy. As an added bonus, the headphones fold up and fit into this adorable floral carry pouch. The three button in-line mic means you can make calls, adjust the volume or just change your track... Magic!

I had so much fun taking these snaps, I was dancing around the apartment foyer while listening to Rudimental. I had a few crazy stares but whattttever, haters gon' hate. My outfit is just a really simple and casual weekend look, on my days off I'm all about feeling comfortable!

Dr Martens Liverpool One Store Part 2 - The Clothes!

So this is part 2 of my Dr Martens Liverpool One store visit, and this time I'm talking CLOTHES! You may be surprised that Dr Martens also has such a wide range of clothes and accessories to compliment their famous footwear, and it's pretty darn awesome. Check out what I found instore . . .

Beautiful leather bags and purses in classic black, cherry red and brown, starting at £115. Like the boots, we're encouraged to wear these in to make them look even better! I don't know about you, but I love the idea of being able to relax with an expensive bag instead of wrapping it in cotton wool?!

Probably my second fave piece, this Longline Rib Shirt (£60) was to die for and could easily be styled up in so many different ways.

This classic tartan dress was my fave piece, and apparently it's everyone's fave, as Siobhain told me that they are constantly selling out and having to reorder! The tartan style gets a design makeover every season but the Dr Martens tartan dress is fast becoming the clothes version of the 1460 boot, here to stay!

Dr Martens Liverpool store Liverpool One Dr Martens satchel uk style and fashion blogger
How cute is this mini satchel?! I actually think I like this size better than the standard size!

Obvs I had to try something on (p.s. the changing room is HUGE!), so I nabbed the tartan dress and said mini satchel for a dressing room selfie. The dress was SO nice, I can totally get why it's so popular. It's made of a lightweight brushed cotton material and the cut and length is just perf. I usually shy away from dresses that cut at the waist because they don't really flatter my top heavy shape but this looked so cute! I'm wearing an XL which is a UK16, so I think it ran a little small because I'm generally a 12 on the bottom and 14 on top but you have to bear in mind that there is zero stretch and a button up, despite the waist being perfectly roomy. I imagine that if you were, for example, an 8 all over like Tara is (harumph - jealous face), then it would be true to size :)

The mini satchel looks perfect with it, I definitely want this whole outfit for next season! I'm wearing my new Dr Martens Alodie boots (£120) with it, so I just fell in love with the whole look!

Huge thanks to Siobhain, Jamie and the Dr Martens Liverpool One team for letting me roam free in the store for an hour, I left with a new insight into the brand and how it fits into Liverpool style. If you're shopping in the city then you need to pop in! The clothes are a hidden treasure even if you're not a massive fan of the shoes, and if you're not a fan of the shoes (errr exsqueeze me, a baking powder, are you mental?!) I actually think you'll leave the store with a different view because the brand is so versatile and classically cool.

J - Can I have a job Dr?

Unicorrrrrrrrrns! When I noticed this print at the Sugarhill Boutique press day, I actually melted on the spot. I absolutely adore SB, their dresses seem to fit me like a dream and their fun and quirky prints always inject some much needed fun into my wardrobe.

I initially had my eyes on the skater dress in this print, but as if by fate, I ended up getting my paws on this perfect loose fitting Unicorn Tunic Dress instead! When I ripped open the beautiful packaging, I had it on and zipped up before you could say Robert Pattinson. I paired it with my trusty leather, fisherman boots, signature fedora and this unicorn horn necklace for a double dose of unicorn goodness. I felt totally badass in this outfit while I strutted around my local shopping mall. Ooooh yeah.

I took my normal size (UK 8 - XS) and would say it fits true to size. I now have my eyes on the top version... I think it would look hella cute with ripped denim shorts! Ooooh wee. Huge congrats SB, you've nailed it. UH-GAIN.

Do you believe in unicorns? Are you a fan of Sugarhill Boutique?

Dr Martens Liverpool One Store Part 1 - The Shoes!

Tuesday, 22 July 2014

This weekend I was invited to edit the Dr Martens Liverpool One store, have a good old nose at their goodies and grab an insight into how one of our fave brands is making it's fashion mark into my favourite city!

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review

I spent an hour with the DM team (huge thanks to Siobhain and Jamie!) learning about the brand history and the recent changes in style direction whilst getting my paws on all the new styles to show you what you're missing if you're more likely to head to your nearest high street shoe shop instead of finding your hidden gem of a local Dr Martens store when you're in the market for a new pair of a little something like this . . .

First up was the latest collab from Agyness Deyn, now into her fourth season with Dr Martens. The new line is much lighter than her previous collections, taking inspiration from her new LA home, think surfer girl with a touch of prep, which makes for some very interesting DM designs!

The Aggy LTT Boot (£210), with their bowling shoe styling and rose motif, were probably my faves from the shoe line simply because I will always favour a boot! The Aggy Sandal (in rose pattern or a patent black, both £130) isn't really my cup of tea, but I had to admit that the Aggy Strap Shoe (£115) had a certain schooltime appeal for me, hella cute!

Speaking of schooltime appeal, I asked Siobhain what the most popular shoe in the store was right now, and aside from the classic black 1460's, it seems Liverpool students can't get enough of the big bowed Mariel (£90)! Yup, this is THE hot back to school shoe for baby scouse birds and I can totally see why, we would've gone crazy for these bad boys when I was a 90's schoolie!

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review Mariel bow shoes

To be honest, as a discerning teen I probably would've preferred the heeled Jinelle (£100). They instantly reminded me of my old cherry rub Dr Martens Darla boots which were one of the first Dr Martens heels from a few years back. I still wear them to death now even if they are on their last legs, but how many heeled boots can you say you've had 4 snowy Winters out of? Mmhmm, go 'head Darla ;)

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review Jinelle heeled shoes

I definitely had a soft spot for these Clarissa sandals (£95) too. I've spotted them on loads of bloggers and they look so cute with a little dress. Dr Martens sandals are pretty new to the brand but they still manage to stay true to the original brand image with the famous bouncing soles and thick strapping. I love how DM's don't borrow from any other brands, they just do their own thing.

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review Clarissa sandals

Jocelyn (£90) is a block heeled cut out T-bar shoe, the ultimate geek shoe. And I mean that as a compliment! In fact, I'm loving all of these new DM styles! The female DM customer is loyal for life, often buying their fave styles in multiple colours and patterns, so why not give them other options with the heels and sandal ranges? Very clever. Basically, if you love the brand, why go anywhere else just because the weather or event changes?

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review Jocelyn geek shoes

Then there's the fun stuff. The fancy patterned and coloured DM's you always see on their Instagram page with a squillion likes and 9200 comments from fans? T and I have both had pics of our boots regrammed on there *COUGH* 25k likes *COUGH*, and it feels amazing! ;) If I was a rich girl (and I'm sure Tara agrees with me) I'd just buy all the patterns I loved regardless of whether I thought they'd fit in with my wardrobe. As it is, I umm and ahh over them as if I'm getting a tattoo or something. This is what makes them so special, because if you commit to something a little bit crazy, then you know it's true love! Check these beauties out . . .

Finally, the Drench wellies! As seen on our very own Tara in Glastonbury (who highly recommends them by the way), these rubber boots are 100% waterproof and look just like normal DM's until you get up close. They start at £75, so a bit more than your average Hunter's for example, but they're a lot cooler and less um, *side eye* 'common' - ahem ;)

Dr Martens Liverpool One store review Drench wellies

I had an awesome time looking around the store. It's not my first time in there but I usually only go in when I want something special, like my Agyness Deyn bow cap from a few seasons ago, or the cute leopard socks that caught my eye in the window a few months ago, but it is the first time that I've took an in depth look around and got a real feel for the place, and now I've got that there's no way I'll be going anywhere else for my next Dr Martens purchase. The team are lovely and really knowledgeable about the brand, I totally recommend popping by next time you're in town. Have a good nose, touch something you wouldn't normally touch, try on something you wouldn't normally try on, and prepare to get hooked!

Stick around for part 2 of the edit coming later this week. Hint - it involves CLOTHES.

J - Dr, I think I've got a fever.

Britain to Barbados with Debenhams! #britaintobarbados

Monday, 21 July 2014

I was recently asked to take part in Debenhams' 'Britain to Barbados' campaign! The challenge was to style a maxi dress and a pair of sandals in two different ways, one suitable for Britain, and the other suitable sunny Barbados.

I was lucky enough to visit Barbados last year and as I live in maxi dresses all year round, I couldn't help but feel this task was made for me. Huzzah!

Outfit 1: Britain
Leather Dr. Martens Satchel
Debenhams Britain to Barbados
Warehouse Dress and Kurt Geiger Sandals (c/o) - Leather Jacket: HIDE - Unicorn Necklace: Regal Rose - Hat: H&M - Satchel: Dr. Martens

If you're a regular reader, you'll know this is pretty much a signature look of mine. I'm almost always wearing a fedora, love wearing maxis and own a *healthy* selection of leather jackets. I keep my makeup quite natural on a day-to-day basis and usually wear my hair down. I like to add a touch of bling and almost always carry a leather satchel around with me... But this one is my favourite! Pretty badass, non? ;)

Outfit 2: Barbados
Summer Maxi DressWarehouse Embellished Maxi DressWarehouse Dress and Kurt Geiger Sandals (c/o) - Necklace: Oasis - Sunglasses: Ray-ban - Clutch: Forever 21

Barbados is a beautiful country and during peak season there's no need for a jacket. When I'm swanning around on holiday, I throw my hair out of my face and wear sunglasses to protect my eyes. I only wear skincare products with SPF in and appreciate a good splash of lipgloss - this new one from E.L.F works well! My embellished Warehouse maxi dress is really versatile and is suitable for wearing day-to-night. I took my usual size but I would say it's a little snug on the chest so maybe size up if you're bigger on top.

Kurt Geiger Maddie Sandals

These incredible Kurt Geiger gladiator sandals are currently on sale and remind me of the tan pair I had handmade in Vietnam! I'm annoying half size but I'm really glad I sized up as I find KG tend to run a bit small. The straps are adjustable and they're really well made... I'm crazy about them! They're such a great statement piece.

Huge thanks to Debenhams for asking me to take part! Which outfit is your favourite? Are you a fan of maxi dresses and sandals for Summer?

Cosmic Ring Stacking with Sugar & Vice!

Thursday, 17 July 2014

I'm a huge fan of epic ring stacks, but the perfect balance can be a bit tricky to get right. You see them all over Instagram and some chicks just get it so spot on, but you try the same look at home and you feel like you can't pick anything up because every bit of skin on your fingers is covered in metal! I find it easier to start with a feature ring on the middle finger and then surround it with simple midi rings, building as you go and maybe stopping to add other cool rings if they fit in.

I created this look around my gorgeous new Sugar & Vice Planet Ring (£11) by making it the centre of my hand universe! The colours lend themselves easily to stacking because the metallic glitter on the black acrylic means you can wear any colour metal with it, and the diagonal shape is perf for central positioning. Isn't it purty?! The delicate swirl pattern on the gold planet is just beaut.

Anyhoo, I grabbed the plain gold, silver and rose gold H&M ring bunch that Tara got me for my birthday and built a basic look with them, then added an F21 gold spike ring and New Look gold midi ring onto my ring finger, and completed the look with the very cool black The Rogue + The Wolf Rebel ring on my index finger.

Finally I painted my nails in a spaceman silver to finish off the interplanetary metallic look and ta daaaaaa!

When I do a stack like this I tend to only run it on one hand, leaving the other hand to deal with a couple of midi's and my engagement ring, but I love how stacks like this look! What do you think?

The Planet Ring is part of the Sugar & Vice Girl From Another World collection, a cool range of fun, starry rings, brooches, necklaces and earrings for the alien lover in you, check it out!
