Melitarose London: Luxury Soy Candles!

Saturday 30 May 2015

A couple of months ago I was sent a selection of luxury soy candles from Melitarose London's newest range. Melitarose make my favourite candle of all time (Amaretto), so I was excited to try some of their new scents.

They've recently introduced an affordable range of candle tins which are available in 8 different scents. I was sent 3 samples to review, each are highly scented and boast a 35 hour burning time. I know from experience, their candles are made of the highest quality and are extremely scented. Sometimes soy candles can have a poor scent throw, but this is not the case with Melitarose candles.

Melitarose Mint and Rosemary Candle

Mint & Rosemary: My favourite of the 3! I have real soft spot for anything remotely minty, I love mint chocolate, icecream, showergel, and now I can finally add candles to my list of mint lovin'. The mint and rosemary fusion works perfectly and if you aren't a fan of mint scents, the rosemary takes the edge of slightly and adds a whole new dimension. This is delicious and super refreshing.

Oudh Musk: To me, this is a scent for men. Sam absolutely loves it and it reminds me of him! It has a slightly woody scent and is apparently produced from the rare & tropical Agar Tree. I agree that it is somewhat exotic, I can't quite pinpoint the main scent but it really is addictive and I can't help but like it.

Patchouli & Rose: Mmm... A fruity and floral fusion! This a slightly lighter scent but in a good way. The patchouli is a great bohemian scent, it also has notes of bergamot and orange peel, with the rose kick at the end. I would definitely re-purchase this one and it would make a fantastic gift. If 100 people tested all 3, I'm almost convinced this candle would be the most popular.

I thoroughly recommend Melitarose London, I have tried so many candle brands, including the big ones, but this is still my favourite in terms of quality, affordability and scents. It's quite a grown-up brand, the candle jars are still my favourite but I love the idea of buying these cheaper tins to try the scents before committing to a bigger jar.

Which scent would you like to try? I'm adding 'Fresh Linen' and 'Champagne Pomegranate' to my want list!

T - Has the best smelling home, EVER.

Little Mistress by Look Magazine Jasmine Dress!

Friday 29 May 2015

I have a serious case of the post-holiday blues. I'm trying to keep busy and make fun plans for the months ahead, but I keep having beach flashbacks... I miss the sand! I didn't pack a lot for my week away, I took a tiny case full of palazzo pants, crops and a few key maxi dresses. I think this Little Mistress by Look Magazine dress was probably my favourite, it has a dreamy fit and was the right length - for once! I always find maxi dresses are just a little too short on me but I can actually wear heels with this one. Winning.

Sharing its name with my favourite Disney princess, the Jasmine dress is a beautiful printed chiffon maxi with a sweet cut-out detail and slightly padded cups. I'm wearing the size 8 which fits me perfectly.

The back is elasticated and the dress itself is very comfortable and wonderfully made. I've been considering Little Mistress for bridesmaids dresses and if you're looking for a bold dress, I would certainly recommend this for any future maids!

I'm looking forward to getting lots of wear out of this maxi over the Summer, I think I'm going to wear it to a wedding and hopefully for a few nights out. The entire Look Magazine collection is swoon-worthy but I'm a little bit in love with Florence dress.

Which LM x Look Magazine dress is your favourite? Do you like wearing bold prints?

Nomads Clothing: Ethical and Fair Trade Fashion

Thursday 28 May 2015

I always enjoy discovering new brands and I was recently introduced to Nomads, an ethical and fair trade clothing company which started in the late 80's! Fair trade fashion makes me feel good on both the inside and the outside, as the styles tend to be beautifully boho and right up my street.

Nomads clothing have a great fair trade policy and if you have a spare 60 seconds, I definitely suggest you give it a quick read through. They regularly visit the factories where their garments are made and are continually increasing their range of organic cotton. Farming organically means no harmful chemicals are used and the land requires less water which promotes sustainable and environmental fashion. If only more companies would ask, "Who made my clothes?"

Nomads Tie Dye Maxi Dress
Dress: Nomads (c/o) - Bracelet: Swarovski - Hat: Local market

I was sent this beautiful tie dye maxi dress to style a few weeks back, it reminds me of a Free People but is a lot more affordable. I'm wearing the smallest size, a size 8, which has a wonderful, loose fit. It is slightly sheer so I've put a nude maxi slip underneath it but I adore the boho shape! I wore it on holiday last week and it the breeze kept catching it which just added to the parachute vibe. The pretty sequin detailing adds a feminine touch and it feels so comfortable on, I wish I could wear it every day.

They also have a fantastic range of maxi skirts which I've just been eyeing up, the prints are so bohemian and the entire collection screams 'global traveller'. I also love that the duo behind the brand met whilst backpacking. I seem to be drawn to brands which were started by fellow globe trotters, their pieces always seem to have an edge and be a little bit more special.

Do you like to support fair trade fashion? Are you a fan of bohemian style?

T - Hoping this dress will be made in white/turquoise!

Have you missed me? I'm back with a brand new outfit post and a pretty awesome (a-hem) tan! Optical Express recently sent over a pair of Ray-Ban 2132 sunglasses for me to style. I'm a huge designer sunnies fan, with Ray-Ban being my favourite brand. You can nab these glasses from any Optical Express store or via their online store, and prices start from £115. They are available in 4 colours including Havana, Black, Blue, and these ones, Black Rubber. You can't beat classic black but I'm all about Havana... Aren't they absolute beauts!?

Ray-Ban's do cost a little more but they're just timeless, I'm planning to save mine for my future kids. Sunglasses make great family heirlooms. Am I right?

Rawrgirls Review . . . NYL Restaurant & Bar, Liverpool!

Monday 25 May 2015

Liverpool is buzzing this weekend, with the bank holiday and the arrival of the Three Queens getting everyone excited, so it was with much enthusiasm that I accepted an invitation to have lunch at one of the city's hottest new restaurant and bars, NYL!

Inspired by the food and culture of New York and set within the restored former Royal Insurance Building, NYL offers a mix of delicious modern food prepared by an award winning chef, expertly mixed cocktails, amazing service and a spectacular setting for socialising day and night.

The building is absolutely beautiful with it's ornate high ceilings and huge windows. The interior, styled out in luxe dark wood panels, chocolate brown leather upholstered seating and decadent lighting, compliments it perfectly. The whole place just screams class.

NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
The lunch menu is currently running at 2 courses for £15, which at this award winning standard is pretty amazing and we were looking forward to tucking in! It was hard to choose from dishes such as Superfood Salad, NYL Chicken Caesar and Cheese Steak, but I chose the wild mushroom and chestnut Ravioli with sweet potato fries and Tim went with the NYL Burger and triple cooked chips.

My Ravioli (normally £12) was unbelieveable! Drizzled in roasted garlic cream, basil foam and truffle oil, with a smidge of spiced spinach on top. Mushroom ravioli is one of my fave dishes to discover on a menu (along with some form of sausage and mash) and this is the best I've tasted. SO good that I would order this again even if I went back to NYL the next day!

NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
Tim's NYL Burger (normally £13) was the perfect size, 8oz of hand formed beef with smoked streaky bacon and applewood smoked cheese on a salad laden brioche bun and pinned with a pickle! On the side sat two huge onion rings, triple cooked chips and NYL relish. The burger was juicy and full of flavour, and the chips were just amazing, think rectangular roast potatoes - YUM. Tim was quite taken with the NYL relish too, seriously, they should bottle and sell this stuff at the desk!

NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
The dessert menu was also insane, ALL the good stuff such as lemon tart, sorbet, creme brulee . . . but Tim chose the Oreo Cheesecake (normally £6) and I went for the Chocolate Blondie (normally £6) even though I had no clue what it was!

Check this bad boy out. I'm not going to lie, this was the truth and I wish I'd gone for it myself! It was literally like eating 2 giant Oreo's, but better, served with bitesize brownies and summer fruits to box everything off with a ribbon bow. I don't think I can think of a more positive way to put that! Just dessert perfection.

NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW
Mine turned out to be a white chocolate and macadamia nut cake with peanut butter frosting and popping candy, served with ice cream and summer fruits. It was beaut and I ate every bit but I was definitely eyeing up Tim's the entire time. The heart, and eyes and stomach, want what they want I guess!

NYL LIVERPOOL REVIEW

The service was second to none and everyone was such a sweetheart, especially our lovely waitress who I found myself gabbing away to like we'd met a thousand times! I love it when you feel totally at ease even when your surroundings are super impressive and grand.

I can only imagine how fab the atmosphere is in the night when the drinks are flowing and everyone is having a good time. One for the next Saturday night out in town for sure, especially with Liverpool legend DJ Lee Butler in residence! Plus I've got to get a spot on that mezzanine bar up above to watch the uber glam Scouse gals go by!

Huge thanks to NYL for having us :) I've already got my finger on arranging a Thursday Steak Night get together with friends, so we'll be back!

Designer Sunglasses at Tesco Opticians!

Friday 22 May 2015

Summer, summer, summertime (summertime) calls for new stunnerz, and as it's our duty to make sure all our pals are well informed on the best stockists we gave Tesco Opticians designer sunglasses range the once over. Did you know you can earn Tesco Clubcard points on purchases, AND boost your vouchers to save on the price too? Nope, neither did I, but good to know right?! As a Clubcard points addict, if I can buy it from Tezzies then I will, whether that's entertainment, electronics, homeware or clothing!

Here are a few cool examples of styles available right now from the Tesco Opticians webby . . .

Ray-Ban's are an obvious choice, they're just so darn shibby and NEVER date which is a bonus. We love these purple Justin's (£90) for a splash of colour any time of year.

These Kangol's are only £30 and totally on the money for working this season's 70's trend! Think Charlie's Angel denim flares, printed shirt and floppy hat combo - SWOON!

For those of you who love a bit of pin-up style, these zebra print Lipsy's (£30) are perf. Wear with a red pout and headscarf for extra sex kitten appeal!

Finally, Carrera are Gwen Stefani's sunglasses of choice, therefore they are also ours! Gwen rocks Carrera aviators (£80) with effortless denim looks and maxi dress style. We love this retro 80's style, and between us, I think they trump the Ray-Ban's for me ;)

I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with Tesco Opticians, definitely a spot I'll be revisiting. What do you think, see anything you could fall for? :)

J - Every little helps!

Rawrgirls Review . . . Arran Aromatics!

Thursday 21 May 2015

This week I've been relaxing in style with Arran Aromatics. Founded in 1989, Arran Aromatics has developed into one of Scotland's best loved brands with a worldwide following, and once you try one of their uniquely fragranced products it's easy to see why they are so popular!

I was gifted three products to try; After The Rain Bath & Shower Gel (£12), Feel Good Formulas Lavender & Black Pepper Mineral Muscle Soak (£9) and Perfumer Wild Gorse Candle (£20) - to the bathroom! . . .

The 'After The Rain' fragrance is one of the Arran Aromatics big hitters, inspired by founder Janet's desire to capture the unique fresh scent of her Arran garden after a rainstorm. It's described as an irresistibly fresh fragrance to make you feel awakened, cleansed and rediscovered. It contains essential oils of Lime, Lavandin, Mandarin, Juniper and Cardomom and blends citrus top notes of lemon with rose, musk and precious woods to form the heart and base notes. The gel is also enhance with Pro Vitamin B5 for skin condition.
Basically, I am a fan. It really is like a summer shower in a bottle, energising but calming all at the same time. It wakes me up in my morning shower and relaxes me in my evening bath, bizarre, but I'm not arguing! I'm also very keen on the pure clear liquid which makes a beaut filter for a good sunset, as you may have seen on our Instagram ;)

Arran Aromatics review

Whilst the bath and shower gel is all mine, the mineral soak is good fun for everyone. Cleansing, healing and exfoliating sea salt packed with essential oils of Lavender and Black Pepper combine to leave skin glowing and toned, with a stress busting fragrance to boot. Tim and I are pretty hooked on this stuff, and we're usually big advocates of the XXL bubble bath, but it feels so good to just lie in a hot bath of clear sweet smelling water and chill out to the scent. Can I also say that it's a bargain at £9, I was expecting this to be at least £15-£20! The packaging is gorge and it would make a bargainous gift for any bath fan!

Arran Aromatics review

Finally, the Wild Gorse luxury scented candle - the perfect accompaniment to bathtime bliss! The scent is warm and sweet with a teeny hint of floral (my dad actually thought it was some sort of vanilla), complimenting the mineral soak perfectly. Each 30cl candle has a burn time of up to 35 hours, and on it's first run I got a bit carried away and let it run for about 5 hours straight, yet it is still perfectly even (no pesky wick valleys) and has hardly reduced. £20 may seem expensive for the size, but this is from the luxury Perfumer Collection range hence the premium price. Arran Aromatics also do the Arran At Home and Essential Collection candle collections where you can pick up a candle of the same size for £10-£12 if these are a bit out of your budget.

Arran Aromatics review

Overall, fine holiday fun, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

If you like the sound of these products, why not enter to win a selection of travel products from the Arran Aromatics range on their blog here? The competition ends on Sunday so still plenty of time to get your entry in - race you there!

Win 1 of 3 £100 Giftcards with the all new George At Asda Bromborough!

Tuesday 19 May 2015

So one of my local superstores, Asda Bromborough in The Wirral, has recently had an overhaul of it's George section and I was invited to have a look around! It's really spacious and well set out, making it much easier to spy all the new styles, which is totally what I set out to do . . .

The Holiday Shop is in full swing with plenty of beach and festival looks to keep us all in sunshine mode this summer!

For us girls, it's all about the globetrotter inspo this season with my fave look being the Marrakech collection, which basically could've been modelled on Tara's summer wardrobe! Bold patterns in exotic oranges and mysterious blues on lightweight, easy to wear fabrics are easily paired with our staple denim shorts and skinnies for totally #Georgeous weekend wear! This £16 kimono is already a fashion mag darling, and it's obvious why. We'll take two!

Maxi dresses and palazzo style jumpsuits are also in the mix, with these two styles being my standout picks. I'd team both with some gladiator style sandals and a straw hat for a breezy beach bar look.

Beautiful detailing of metallic buttons and sparkling embellishments on two perf Marrakech colour palette examples, this time on cute blouses. Why not bring a bit of summer into the office and wear these with a navy cotton skirt or rolled up chinos?!

And the embellishments don't stop when you get into the shoe dept, check out these flats! They make it easy to rock the jersey basics without spending a fortune on accessories.

Finally, I got lost wandering the swimwear section. Ughhhhh, why am I saving for a wedding and not going on a beach holiday this year?! Everything is so darn cute, and I love how the styles cater for us busty ladies with most pieces, including this this adorable nautical/floral one, hitting up the E/F cups!

If you're local to the store, you have to pop in and have a look. A little bird told me that the new in collections were hitting the shelves as of yesterday so if you're quick you can grab some of these pieces before they sell out!

To celebrate the Bromborough store's new look, George At Asda are generously giving three of you a chance to get a new look too with a £100 giftcard - whoop! Entry is by Rafflecopter and you know the drill by now, blog post comment is mandatory and social media entries are optional to rack up the points . . . GO!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Good luck guys, it's time to get #Georgeous!

Rawrgirls Review . . . ESQIDO Lashlorette Mink False Eyelashes!

Saturday 16 May 2015

I am a huge false lash fan and reach for them whenever I fancy a bit of va va voom, but I've never tried real mink lashes before so when ESQIDO asked if I fancied trying a set of theirs I was like, errrr YEAH?!

ESQIDO false eyelashes are professional grade mink lashes, responsibly sourced from the natural shedding cycles of the mink, and sterilized to ensure that they are hypoallergenic and safe to wear. With proper love and care, ESQIDO lashes can be worn up to 25 times, so $38 for the Lashlorette style I tried might seem expensive but not when you think about the pounds per wear factor!

They are so soft and fluffy, and super comfortable. They are obviously very full, but I still think they look really natural, as in they aren't totally uniform and shiny? Take a look . . .

ESQIDO false eyelashes blog review

They come in a luxe white and rose gold box for safekeeping, serioulsy, the whole thing just oozes quality, I can totally see why the reviews online are all like this one! ;)

ESQIDO false eyelashes blog review

If Lashlorette has a 3/5 volume level, I can only imagine what hurricanes the 5/5 Lashmopolitan would cause! I would 100% buy another pair of ESQIDO lashes, consider me a convert!

Sun. Wind. Rain. Sun. Cloud. Wind. Rain. Sun. Can someone have a word with the weather please?! Luckily, getting your legs out doesn't necessarily mean baring your freshly fake tanned skin, especially when you can wrap them in something rawrsome from Sock Shop!

Its no secret that I love anything leopard and these Elle Leopard Printed Tights are now 50% off at only £3.50, so I was thrilled to add them to my collection! The soft matte neutral tones make them the perfect bridge tights for my new fave tan suede boots (because black tights with tan boots are a bit of a no no), not too dark but not too light, just Goldilocks - hurrah!

Outfit: Jacket - Pull & Bear, Playsuit - Very.co.uk, Tights - c/o Sock Shop, Boots - Warehouse, Necklace - Mi Moneda.

The Sock Shop sale is now up to 75% and there are some fab bargains to be had. I can personally recommend the Young Trasparenze Mumbai Animal Print Tights which are reduced to an amazing £5.08 from £20.30. I have them in black and the quality is top notch so they are a must have at a fiver! Also keep an eye out for Jonathan Aston, Pretty Polly and Falke styles. It may be summer but now is the time to stock up on your premium hosiery for next season!

Mojoos London: Premium Bridal Shoes!

Wednesday 13 May 2015

We were recently introduced to Mojoos London, a new brand who design luxury, hand-crafted shoes. There is no left or right shoe, you just pop them on and they mold to your feet over time! We were so intrigued by the concept, they sent us both a pair to style.

I don't own enough flat shoes. About 5 years ago, I had a huge range of pumps and ballet shoes, but these days I'm all about block heel sandals. That being said, there's something so liberating about wearing a pair of flat shoes to work. I love being able to run around instead of strutting in heels. They come in 10 beautiful colours but I opted for 'Lush', a natural choice for a Bristol girl like me.

Lush Mojoos ReviewKimono & top: Oasis - Jeans: Hudson - Necklace: Mi Moneda - Shoes: Mojoos (c/o)

They have such a premium feel to them and historically, in India, this style of shoe was associated with royalty and opulence. The soft leather is ethically sourced and they have a rich silk upper, hand embroidered with gold zari thread. They come in a stylish presentation box with a lovely little bag to store them in. Although they are perfect for any occasion, I'll probably only save mine for best as they feel so very luxe and special.

I'm currently on the lookout for some wedding shoes and although I want heels for the ceremony, these (in Tinsel) would make great bridal shoes for the evening do! I can just imagine my maids & I in different colour Mojoos, burning up the dance floor. ;) I love how comfortable they are too, it's as if I'm wearing slippers!

Are you a fan of flats? Which colour would you choose?

T - Gert lush.
