The George #styleYOUniform Challenge

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Earlier this month I took the George #styleYOUniform challenge! The idea is to take one George at Asda dress and style it a few different ways creating brand new looks for yourself instead of reaching for your normal everyday clothes, be it your fave jeans or your everyday boring office wear. I literally wear black trousers and the same tops for work every day, though our dress code isn't necessarily that strict! There are so many different looks roaming our office corridors, from power suits to smart denim and maxi skirts to tailored shorts, so I'm clearly just in a rut! I took this as an opportunity to switch it up a bit, giving me a way in to starting the season as I mean to go on, so I chose this really cute Embroidered Chambray Dress (just £16!) and a few complementary pieces for good measure and got to work (literally).

The first look was super simple; just the dress, a khaki jacket to cover up with and a pair of cool suede look boots. This dress doesn't need a lot to make it pop though, the light denim-esque material and embroidered features are a couple of trends in themselves. Annnnnnd people noticed, some with calls of 'Oooh Jade's got her legs out!' but mostly compliments on the dress. The first change is always the hardest, result!

Sparkling Saturday! Bridesmaid Gift Idea With Fraser Hart

Saturday 23 April 2016

This is my third and final Fraser Hart bridal party gift idea collab before I pass the sparkly baton over to T for her picks, and this time it's one for your girls - the Bridesmaids!

As with all gifts for your loved ones, you want it to be personal without actually getting them a SATC 'Carrie' style name necklace, whilst keeping it affordable for you and wearable for them. I had the idea of looking for pieces featuring birthstones, that way your girls all get something different (errr, unless they're all born in one month - oops!) and beautiful that they can remember the day by forever!

These 9ct gold oval garnet stud earrings are £65 and I just adore them. My birthstone is garnet, and it also happens to be my best friend's and Tim's mum's too. Garnet is the symbol of friendship and happiness, so the stone is the perfect choice for either of my faves and these studs are timeless, so like my marry-aaaaage, they'll last forever - BLEURGH! ;)

Fat Face Summer '16: New Friends for Old Favourites

Tuesday 19 April 2016

Rawr faves Fat Face, recently launched a new campaign called New Friends for Old Favourites. It's all about mixing and matching old season pieces with the new collection. I enjoy getting dressed up, but on an average day I prefer a relaxed ensemble, which is why I often reach for my Fat Face skinnies.

Their clothing is so versatile and I definitely believe in keeping key wardrobe staples for years. I still have a few pairs of jeans I've owned for over a decade ha ha. Last year I was sent some black skinny jeans and a jacket to feature from Fat Face, and today I'm styling this same jacket with some brand new summer pieces.

Jacket, shirt & jeans: Fat Face (c/o) - Brogues: Lotus

This look consists of a relaxed ivory shirt - which is perfect for layering - and these super comfortable boyfriend jeans. Although it's spring, it's still pretty chilly so I paired these key pieces with my trusty Lotus brogues. I can also imagine wearing this shirt over a bikini at the beach or tucking it into a high-waisted leather skirt. Ver-sa-tile.

On another note, I'm starting to get a little bit obsessed with boyfriend jeans. This is my third pair in just a few months! They're so easy to wear and perfect for spring/summer. I always find Fat Face run a bit big, so I'd recommend sizing down. These jeans are great quality, affordable and feel super soft against my skin.

I definitely recommend checking out their denim if you need some new jeans, my black skinnies are my most worn pair (true story) and I now have my eyes on some awesome dungarees... If only I didn't have a wedding to pay for!

Do you shop at Fat Face? Do you try to purchase versatile pieces?

Best Man Gift Idea from Fraser Hart

Saturday 16 April 2016

Today we're chatting about choosing gifts for your Groomsmen and your Groom's lieutenant, the Best Man. Do you let your man take it on and end up with his party all clutching bags of PS4 games and Fosters at your wedding breakfast, or do you let him off and handle it yourself (like everything else)? Mmhm, thought so!

You want it to be something shiny they can 'keep', so the obvious and most popular choice is cufflinks, but not every man has the opportunity to wear them often (I know Tim wears his once in a wedding or christening) so what other options do you have when shopping at your fave jewellery store? I was surprised to see a lot of swanky yet affordable options at Fraser Hart, because my first thought was great, we're probably going to have to fork out for watches, but nuh uh! I very quickly spied their Hugo Boss range of stationary, pens and keyrings and remembered that my mum gave me a silver Moschino keyring when I was 18, and I still carry it on my keys today - perfect!

This is the Hugo Boss Grid Keyring (£45), stylish and gift boxed, it's the perfect occasion gift for your groomsmen and falls perfectly into our budget. I love Tim's friends but I don't really wanting to be dropping more on gifts for them than on my bridesmaid's dresses! It's weighty, masculine and actually useful, plus every time they get their keys out they might think of that fun time we all had together :)

Wedding Wednesday! Bridal Jewellery - Mi Moneda Style with Fraser Hart

Wednesday 13 April 2016

So with weeks (Tara!)  and months (moi!) to go we're getting down to the final touches of our weddings now, a bit of frosting here and there to add the final bit of sparkle, and where better to find that something special than Fraser Hart? Over the next few weeks we'll be showing you our picks for beautiful Bridal jewellery, Bridesmaid and Best Man gifts, and even a little something for the Groom, but I'm here to start you off with my pick for my wrist on the big day - the absolutely stunning Mi Moneda Picante Swarovski Crystal Bracelet (£99). It's so pretty I'm gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiie!!!!

What I love about Mi Moneda jewellery is that it's not too delicate, they know exactly how much bling to throw at it before it looks over the top which is a fine art in itself, and it's SO affordable. I adore this chunky yellow gold plated bangle (traditional yellow gold is my absolute fave) and the mixed metals-esque colourway of the gold, grey and smokey Swarovski crystal detailing is just so me. The bracelet actually comes with a lovely smokey Azar XS magnetic coin which can be popped out and swapped for another coin from the range as with all Mi Moneda jewellery, so I switched it out for the more glam Peach Picante coin to give it that extra wow factor. I can't stop looking at it, do you love it?

Menswear - Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather High at Foot Locker

Monday 11 April 2016

Happy Menswear Monday! Okay so that's not really a thing (maybe it should be as Tim and Sam get more comfortable in front of the camera!) but Timmy's here in his latest faves from Foot Locker, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Black High Leather. These are a first for Tim who until now hasn't been too keen on Convs, or any rubber soled canvas shoe to be honest (he doesn't do Vans either), but since Converse started doing full leather he's been eyeing them up, hurrah!

They're a touch more expensive than their canvas cousins at £64.99, but I have to admit that after seeing these I quite fancy a pair myself, maybe the snazzy blue. The full leather really does look sweet. Tim likes the way they bridge the gap between trainers and actual shoes for when he wants to look a bit smarter, say a Thursday night pub stint, or a Friday night meal out.

Nike Air Max BW Ultra Women's Sneakers

Friday 8 April 2016

I'm baaaack! Firstly, I can only apologise for how rubbish I've been over the past month or so. Hitting the gym after work and planning a wedding = craziness. I'm looking forward to getting hitched so I can move on with my life and get back into blogging. Er, and for other sentimental reasons. OF COURSE.

Anyhoo, today's long overdue outfit post features some incredible Nike Air Max BW Ultra trainers from Footlocker. I have a bit of a Nike Air Max collection, they're absolutely my weapon of choice when it comes to trainers - nothing else even compares. This brand new style is a little smarter than the others I own and the black/white colourway makes them pretty versatile too.

Your Shores Chloe Biker Jacket
Next Boy Fit Jeans

Rather interestingly, I'd probably say they fit a *tiny* bit smaller than the others I own. This is my normal size 6 but I'd happily jump up a size for some extra wiggle room. They come in a few other colours, the blue is pretty much all I dream about but it's sold out in my size. OH LIFE. Part of me is genuinely tempted to buy a new pair of Air Max's to wear under my wedding dress on the evening... They'd be so comfy, right!?

I paired my new kicks with my favourite boyfit jeans from Next and one of my most loved ombre leather jackets from Shores. How dreamy is the Shores range, btw? SWOON.

Wedding update: We have about 5 weeks to go! The dress fits and this weekend we're meeting with our florist (I still want ALL the flowers) and sorting out some of the little details. There are so many little details. It's also my hen party next weekend and we're off to Barcelona - I can't wait!

Are you a fan of Nike sneakers? Would you like to some *personal* wedding related posts?

T - Missed you guys.

Perfume Review : RiRi By Rihanna

Thursday 7 April 2016

Rihanna has been a busy girl, releasing six (or eight if you count the men's one and a limited edition) fragrances in her name since her debut scent Reb'l Fleur in 2010. The latest is RiRi, released last year, and I'm going to be honest, I completely missed it in the mega swirl of pre-Christmas celeb fragrance releases, but I'm here now and casting it under my nose for you guys (oh the life eh?) :)

RiRi is the fun and flirty side of Rihanna, and this fragrance embodies the singer's vivacious spirit and true self, a vibrant essence with a playful twist. The top notes are fruity and include passion fruit and run absolute, sparkling cassis and italian mandarin, while the heart notes take in the florals with Japanese honeysuckle, orange blossom, exotic jasmine and pink freesia, leaving the base notes to draw you in with Madagascan vanilla, warm skin musk and Indonesian sandalwood. PHEW! What does this all mean to the average nose? It's sweet and yummy, basically. I'm a big fan of sweet candy-like fragrances and luckily for me, these famous gals really know how to knock one up. Think Britney's 'Midnight Fantasy', Gwen's 'Harajuku Lovers Love', Katy's 'Meow', and you get the idea. An initial hit of 'Oh my god I want to eat it!', followed by a come down of 'Mmmm that smells so warm and yummy I could die'. Vanilla is my homeboy.

The packaging is a detour again from previous releases. It's quite satisfying to hold while the pink liquid is girly and looks nice on a dressing table, but it's still my least fave of all the Rihanna bottles. It could've been a tad more sassy. For me RiRi is the girl from the We Found Love and Only Girl In The World vids, playfully hot and lots of fun to be around, and this bottle doesn't really take it there. Ahh well, 'tis just a vessel I suppose.

GAP Denim Addicts #nothingbutdenim

Tuesday 5 April 2016

Last week I went along to check out the new Denim Addicts in-store service at Gap in Liverpool One. Operating across 31 stores nationwide, customers can drop in and meet with a denim specialist, not only to make sure they leave with the perfect pair of jeans but also offering services such as free of charge fitting and personalisation!

Trained in total denim styling, Gap's fabrications and fit, as well as hemming and distressing (just 30 minutes to the perfect personal look for you!), the Denim Addicts are positioned in easy to find stations within the men's and women's denim departments, you have to go check them out, it's a revelation!

I'm not gonna lie, although Tara is a huge Gap fan, I haven't stepped in my local for a long time. I used to live in there but yup, it's been a while so I was totally out of touch with what they have to offer. Which is A LOT. Oh my word, SO much denim kids!

ChinUp Mask Review: Non Surgical Face Lift - Worth The Hype?

Sunday 3 April 2016

We first heard about ChinUp Mask a few months ago on Twitter. A beauty blogger on our feed had tried it and was raving about how she'd lost chin fat in 30 minutes . . . and we were like, *eye roll* - mmhmm!

I'm a bit self-conscious of my double chin, I used to have a jawline for dayyyyyyz in my twenties but as one gets older you kind of wave at it helplessly as it packs a suitcase and leaves you. My wedding is in under 6 months and I'm a tad worried about paying so much for a professional photographer and gurning into the camera, while Tara's is less than 2 months away and she will be filmed at all angles, so when an email popped into our inbox giving us the chance to try this 'revolutionary' product, we both agreed we should give it a go.

ChinUp have worked with a lot of influencers on social media and Instagram, who we kind of figured they had paid. Why? Because that's what Mr Blanc so obviously did and those whitening strips didn't work for Tara at all. Not even a little, much to her disappointment. However, ChinUp are super positive about their product from the get go and the pack even includes a little measuring tape and encourages you to take before and after pictures so part of us thought, perhaps it will work, let's give this a go!

So the strap is far from glamorous, you can't talk when it's on, you get serious jaw ache and I felt like a wrestler wearing it but who cares. The mask is supposed to promote facial blood circulation which melts away extra fat on your face, revealing a more refined shape which should last for a few days. Don't laugh . . .

ChinUp Mask review

I dutifully measured my face beforehand and then applied the magic sheet mask for a whopping 40 minutes. It tingles a lot, but the leaflet said that would happen so I didn't worry. Now for the science-y bit. The mask includes 4 key ingredients:

  • Vitamin E: Which acts as an antioxidant which protects from free radicals and the formulation from lipid peroxidation (you should probably google that because I don't really understand what it is).

  • Corum 9235: Makes the skin warm and stimulates the absorption of serum, which encourages the chin-fat to get lost.

  • Q10 Coenzyme: Stimulates cell strengthening and promotes the regeneration of skin. An antioxidant which hydrates and relieves dry skin. It's also said to have anti-ageing & anti-wrinkle properties.

  • Skintronics™: The magic ingredient which facilitates the fat release and aids in the contouring process. This serum converts fat into stabilized fibrous tissue and eases the edema under the cheeks, jaw and chin. It helps boost the density of collagen and cell tension, instantly lifting and firming up to 20%.

So how did it go? Brace yourself . . .

Before measurement: 24cm. See the sag? Ugh, I hate it!

ChinUp Mask review

After measurement: Still 24cm. And an ever so slightly smoother line?

ChinUp Mask review

So the results? You get two masks in the trial pack which costs £29.95. The first go didn't seem to do anything, but the second run a couple of days later showed a little tightening of my chin fat and revealed smoother lines which I think you can see in the photos, but I didn't get any actual measurable loss in terms of cm.

Would I recommend this to a friend? This is a tough one. Tara didn't see any difference at all which is why you're only seeing my results, yet I think we all want to believe that things like this will work for us which is why we buy them. Plus the online reviews are positive, so for that reason I would recommend trying it out of curiosity if you're happy to potentially waste thirty quid. Saying that, most of us will drop £30 on any given beauty product if it looks like a good time and maybe not get the results we hoped for so this is nothing new. It's always going to be hit and miss industry because we all react differently.
Overall, I doubt I would buy this to try it again. I guess it's back to dieting and repetitively slapping under my chin like my momma showed me how to do as a kid ;)

Have you heard of ChinUp and have you or would you give this a go in the name of banishing pesky chin fat?

J xoxo
