Ernest Jones: Watch Wishlist!

Saturday 31 August 2013

I love my wrist bling and I'm always on the hunt for a new timepiece! I've recently been drooling over the watches at Ernest Jones*, so I decided to pick a few for my Christmas list. Apologies if you're still clinging on to the summer but I'm the girl who buys Xmas presents in September! I like to be prepared and also somewhat surprised on the big day but mum if you're reading this, you can never go wrong with a watch.

Watches at Ernest Jones

1. Burberry nude strap watch.
Out of all of these watches, I definitely think this is the most classic. If you want to buy an investment piece that you'll be able to wear year after year, this is the one. It's also the most expensive but hey, it's Burberry baby.

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs black wrap watch.
The coolest and most casual of the lot, this is probably the watch I'd get the most wear out of. I really like the wrap strap detail and I can see it working perfectly with a t-shirt and jeans.

3. Marc by Marc Jacobs burgundy strap watch.
My favourite! Make note familia. I just adore the colour, I don't remember ever seeing a burgundy watch before!? YUM. The rose gold is also gorgeous and I basically love everything about it. So, who wants to buy it for me? ;)

4. Vivienne Westwood cream strap watch.
You can't go wrong with a bit of Vivienne Westwood on your wrist! Fact. The thin strap is extremely feminine and the face is a great statement piece. Super pretty.

Do you also have a thing for watches? Are you ready to start thinking about Christmas?

T - Hoping to be on Santa's nice list. XoX

Autumn/Winter 2013 Trends: The Maxi Cardigan

Friday 30 August 2013

When I decide I like a trend, it's all I can think about. I'm excited about several Autumn/Winter trends for this year but today I want to talk about the maxi cardigan. It's hard to decide on the correct term because when you do a Google search, this awesome item goes by several names! Do I want a longline cardigan, a duster jacket, a kimono or a maxi something!? Wah.

I suspect we'll see more of these beauties popping up over the next few months (the ones that do turn up keep selling out) but for now, here are my favourite four:

Maxi Cardigans1. Free People - Wow Cardi - 2. Nasty Gal - Wander Lace Cardi - 3. Forever 21 - Dolman Cardigan - 4. For Love & Lemons - Mandala Kimono

1. My most favourite is the Wow Cardi from Free People. Unfortunately it's £88 and although I did contemplate buying it for a good 5 minutes, I then remembered I was poor and removed it from my basket. It's also the only true maxi cardigan I could find! Looove the length.

2. I knew Nasty Gal would have some yummy cover ups and I found an amazing vintage lace duster jacket but it had sold out. SOB. This cute longish Wander Lace Cardi also comes in ivory. I just wish they had a UK website!

3. So I went ahead and ordered this Forever 21 beauty as soon as I found it. The American site has a few more styles (which I possibly prefer) but the Dolman Cardigan nicest one I could find over here. It's really soft and looks yummy on. Expect to see it on the blog soon!

4. I'm such a huge fan of the brand For Love & Lemons! They have lots of incredible pieces and this awesome Mandala Kimono is currently on sale at ASOS. So tempted...

Do you own a maxi cardigan? Are you planning to embrace this trend? I've also ordered a really cheap black one from China so I'll let you know how that turns out. If you spot any lace ones, please let me know!

Little Mistress Jacquard Dress!

Thursday 29 August 2013

I have a weakness for pretty dresses so when I visited the Little Mistress stall at Pure London earlier this month, I was in my element! They have lots of exciting styles for SS14 and I spotted a lot of embellishment at their autumn/winter press day earlier this year.

Jacquard dress
Little Mistress Coral Jacquard Print Sleeveless Dress
Dress: c/o Little Mistress - Shoes: New Look - Bracelet: Topshop - Rings: MinkPink

During my Pure London trip, I was allowed to pick my favourite Little Mistress dress to review so I opted for this coral jacquard print dress. I love the bright coral colour and cool jacquard print! This is a size 10 but I'd say it runs a bit on the small side, especially if you have a largish bootay like moi.

Little Mistress Dress

How amazing is the back!? The mesh panels really make the dress for me. I paired it with nude pumps, a rose gold belt and spikey bracelet. It would be easy to transform this into the perfect party dress by just adding some killer heels! Yes please.

Have you shopped at Little Mistress before? Are you planning on wearing bright colours this autumn/winter?

T - Cute in coral. XoX

Styling Designer Eyewear For AW13 At Vision2You!

Wednesday 28 August 2013

Vision2You* is an awesome designer eyewear store, so it's with great pleasure that we took up the challenge to style some of their yummy sunnies for an AW13 trend! I took the quite frankly amazing Marc Jacobs MJ434/S green camo patterned frames and popped them into a board to show how I'd work them into a utilitarian trend for the upcoming season . . .

Remember, Camouflage doesn't just have to be green (we don't all suit the G.I. Jane look!) so I kept the army olives to a minimum with a cool studded bag from New Look plus a classic Dior eyeshadow for a touch of warpaint. Black is always super stylish, so I found an awesome military style jacket from H&M to go with some much coveted urban glam Karen Millen camo skinnies. These New Look romper stomper boots come in black too, but I much prefer the dark red to provide a muted pop of colour. Just because I can't resist it, I'd keep this fierce Kenzo tiger ring safe by covering up with some fluffy stormcloud grey gloves from ASOS! Top all of this off with the luxe Marc Jacobs sunnies and you have a chic, urban look that JLo would be proud of! ;)

Sunnies and specs should definitely be thought of as a fashion accessory, and if you can afford to have a few styles at your disposal then Vision2You has an awesome selection if you're thinking of investing in a new pair!

I Left My Wildfox Heart in Hollywood...

Tuesday 27 August 2013

I have mixed feelings about this time of year. I'm excited for autumn/winter clothing but I still want to dress like it's summer! This bank holiday was a bit of a scorcher so I wore a somewhat transitional summer to autumn outfit, featuring my amazing new chelsea boots from Sperry.

Olivia Burton Hummingbird Watch
Tan Chelsea Boots
Tee: Wildfox - Petticoat Skirt: American Apparel - Watch: Olivia Burton - Boots: c/o Sperry

If you're a regular reader, you'll know that I practically live in boots all year round. I was sent these yummy ainslie boots from Sperry and I think they're the perfect shoes for A/W! Chelsea boots are a must-have for any fashionista, the tan is a nice alternative to the common black styles and the fit on these is perfect. I paired them with my American Apparel petticoat, Wildfox 'I Left my Heart in Hollywood' tee and this beautiful Hummingbird watch by Olivia Burton.

American Apparel Tutu Petticoat
Sperry Women's Ainslie Boot

My mum always taught me to invest in footwear and never to buy cheap shoes. These boots would be a great investment piece because they're such a classic style, the soles are really durable and (if treated right) they could last years! They also come in half sizes which is another bonus.

Are you ready for the colder weather? Do you have your autumn/winter footwear sorted?

God Save Truffle Shuffle!

Monday 26 August 2013

The guys at Truffle Shuffle have killed it with this one, the She-Ra God Save The Princess Of Power Tshirt - £19.99, a punk vs cartoon mash up inspired by The Sex Pistols' God Save The Queen artwork! I LOVE She-Ra, and when I saw this I just knew it would look awesome with the tartans and leathers coming up for AW13 :) And luckily (I know, sorry!) the weather hasn't been so great this week so I got to rock my first real cold weather look for months! I haaaaaaaave the POWERRRR . . .

Outfit: TShirt - c/o Truffle Shuffle, Skirt - New Look, Tights - New Look, Boots - Steve Madden, Jacket - TK Maxx, Hat - H&M.

SO awesome! CHEST SHOT! ;) This is a size L, and as always from Truffle Shuffle, the quality is top notch.

I picked the skirt up from New Look on a whim last week. It's HELLA short, and super poofy but I think it only adds to the cuteness. I think I've got it so might as well flaunt it right?!

When I was getting the skirt, I discovered that New Look do these shredded tights, and after going through about 5 pairs of the Pretty Polly versions last year I thought I'd give them a shot. They are pretty darn amazing and I will definitely be stocking up on them for this Winter!

The boots are from earlier this year, Steve Madden from Dune. Tara and I are both huge Steve Madden fans, and I think these ones will see a lot of wear over their second season in my wardrobe which is always a bonus :)

The tshirt is also available in a black sweater version for £29.99, it would be perfect for buying oversized and going to town on it, giving it a few rips and holes to make it look really lived in! I should not have just given myself that idea . . .

Earth Friendly Dressing With EcoMarket.com!

Sunday 25 August 2013

EcoMarket.com has thousands of friendly stall owners selling quality earth friendly, natural goodies through their online marketplace. It's a fascinating place to browse with so many cool items for sale, so I was chuffed when they got in touch with the offer to pick a fashion item from one of the sellers!

I chose a dress from Etrican, Singapore's pioneer eco fashion label, a peach pink 100% organic cotton dress with purple petal print all over and a tulip wrapover hem. It's so cute, I love it!

Outfit: Dress - c/o EcoMarket.com, Bag - Kipling, Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Bracelets - ChloBo, Necklace - Dior, Ring - Cheap Frills.

The dress is well cut and feels really flattering. The elasticated waistband is so comfy and I can tell that the cotton is really good quality. It's a perfect throw on and go summer dress! I paired it with silver accessories to set off the pastels. It's a really simple look and a bit different for me, but I love it and it's nice to know that it's entirely organic :)

I think you'd love EcoMarket.com if you have a look, especially for those of you with kids because it's always nice to know that you're putting them in soft, natural fibres or fairtrade bits that aren't made by children not much older then them. It's also ideal for gifts, I've already seen a few things that my vegan friends would love and it can be so hard to find original pressies for these guys!

Have you ever tried eco fashion?

J - Alright petal!

Rawrgirls Review . . . Holga Special Lens And Filter Case For iPhone 4/4S!

Saturday 24 August 2013

My phone provider 3 sent me a fun little gadget to play with for my iPhone 4S because (sorry, not sorry) I take most of my blog pics with the iPhone camera! The Holga iPhone 4/4S Lens Filter and Case Kit is around £12-£13, and this handy little clip on attachment gives you 9 lens and filter options in one click!

I've taken some pics of two of my fave recent purchases, Funko Pop She-Ra (I collect these cuties), and a yummy gold cuff (that actually looks like the ones She-Ra wears!) from New Look. Behold!

1. Empty Hole - For taking images with no effect, but you still get quite a nice shadow frame effect which I like.

2. Blue Filter with Clear Centre - Mimics a gentle moon atmosphere, orrrrrr puts your subject in a spotlight, either way, pretty cool.

3. Yellow Filter with Clear Centre - Mimics the sunset. I suspect this one works better on a natural subject outdoors; flowers, landscape, animals etc.

4. Red Filter with Clear Heart Shaped Centre - Reduces absorption of blue and green lights, with a heart shaped centre to stand out. Cute, but my iPhone found it difficult to focus through this lens, maybe I was too close I don't know, though I guess this does add to the soft focus, romantic look of the shot! It kind of makes me want to sing Carpenters songs . . .

5. Green Filter - Enhances green colours. It's fun, and there's a lot of scope for pretending to be an alien or under the sea in selfies.

6. Red Filter -  Reduces absorption of blue and green light. If you're into bedroom photography, this one could be really hot, especially with that peekaboo dark frame. I bet Tara cringes when she reads this *evil laugh* ;)

7. Dual Image Lens - Produces 2 identical images similar to a Holga 2 way split filter. In-ter-est-innnnnng. I imagine this would be awesome for skyline or cityscape shots. I need to practice some more.

8. Triple Image LensProduces 3 identical images similar to a Holga 3 way split filter. This is more fun than the dual image lens. I can see myself using this for outfit shots to trip you all out.

9. Quadruple Image Lens Produces 4 identical images similar to a Holga 4 way split filter. I don't like it as much as the Triple Image Lens, but I'm going to give it a go with single jewellery piece or cosmetic images. I really just need to have a good play with these ones to get the most out of them.

10. 60mm Macro Lens - This is the jewel in the Holga's very pretty crown. I have an Olloclip that retails at 5 times the price of this little kit, and it doesn't macro at 60mm as well as this bad boy. My boyfriend takes toy pics on Instagram and he LOVES this lens for close ups of those tiny faces. It's only our humble opinion, but if you take a lot of close ups on your iPhone, it's worth getting this lens kit for the 60mm Macro Lens alone. DO IT. By the way Funko, poor paint job guys, tut tut ;)

So overall, fine holiday fun, two thumbs up to Holga for this pretty nifty little gadget, and big thanks to 3 for treating me! What do you guys think? I know I must be the only blogger left in the country without a DSLR, taking snaps on an iPhone camera (and I know it shows at times), but everyone loves to Instagram on the move right? Is this something you could see yourself using instead of an app or instafilter?

J - Whyyyyy doooooo biiiiiirds . . . .

Lovely Lace From Louche London!

Friday 23 August 2013

White out has been a huge trend for SS13 and although I might be a bit late to the party, today I'm embracing el blanco. A wise woman once said, 'You can never have too much lace.' I have a fair bit of black lace so it's nice to mix it up a little by wearing double white and double lace at the same time. KA-POW!

Earrings c/o Branch Jewellery - Bracelet: Accessorize

At first I was tempted to go a bit cray cray with my jewelz, but in the end I opted for some of my favourite brown, gold and tusk shaped pieces. I picked up these awesome wooden tusk earrings at Pure London earlier this month, they're from a really cool brand called The Branch who specialise in wooden jewellery. They've been featured in top fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. I really want the necklace version of these!

Maxi skirt: La Redoute - Cowboy boots: Bertie

If you're a regular reader, you might be thinking this skirt looks familiar - it's the white version of the black La Redoute maxi skirt I wear all the time. It's now in the sale and extremely cheap but a word of warning, this is the size 6 and it runs massive, my belt is the only thing holding it up. Size down rawrers!

Necklace: Heather Gardner Jewelry - Belt: Anthropologie - Blouse: c/o Louche

My beautiful lace shoulder blouse is from Louche. I noticed it while I was at Pure London and wanted it immediately! I have a serious lack of pretty tops so this is a welcome addition to my wardrobe. It features layered sleeves with pretty lace panels and would look perfect with some skinny jeans and heels. Yum!

What do you think of today's outfit? When I was taking these snaps a random guy stopped me to ask if I had just got married. MEN.

T - Always a bridesmaid... XoX

Shoeprimo TwinZip Black Boots and Lulu Pearls!

Thursday 22 August 2013

I think Tuesday's OOTD started something because here's another all black outfit! I never really know how to describe my style because I like to mix things up on a daily basis. How would you describe this look? A little gothic romance perhaps? I guess this outfit is slightly Autumnal thanks to my awesome black riding boots.

Shoeprimo Redfoot twinzip boots.
Camisole: Topshop - Skirt: H&M - Leather Boots: c/o Shoeprimo - Necklaces: Erin Wasson x Low Luv + Blue Bayer Design NYC -
Bracelet: c/o Lulu Pearls

I have a pretty big boots collection and I wouldn't be able to survive A/W without them. My latest pair are these twinzip boots from Shoeprimo. Not only are they really comfortable and darn right stylish, they have a nifty twin zip feature which allows you to adjust the width. Genius!

Leather Twin Zip Riding Boots

I have narrow but long feet, so got away with sizing down to a UK 5. I really love the twin zip feature, trying to squeeze my jeans/socks into my boots will now be a thing of the past. They also come in a yummy brown colour but I opted for these because I always get more wear out of black. Shoeprimo don't just stock leather boots, they also sell wellies, sheepskins, folding pumps and much more! I'd definitely recommend giving their online store a browse (scroll down for an exclusive discount code!)

Black Topshop Cami
LuLu Pearls London Skull Wrap Bracelet

I like discovering new brands and believe in paying that bit more for something unique. I was recently introduced to LuLu Pearls, an up and coming jewellery brand from London (who will soon be stocked on ASOS). They asked if I'd like to review my favourite piece so I chose this gorgeous gold skull wrap bracelet. I think it works really well with this outfit and since I love skulls and wraps, it's the perfect combo! What do you think?

If you like the look of these clever boots or fancy some new shoes, the lovely people at Shoeprimo have given us a discount code to share with you! Simply enter 'BLOG30' at the checkout and get 30% off your order. Amazing, right!?

Blog Award: A Ribbon of Affection

Wednesday 21 August 2013

There are lots of different blog awards floating around in the blogosphere, some are awarded by magazines and some are started by fellow bloggers. These tags or awards usually have rules attached to them, meaning not everyone gets to be included and they can all get a bit samey.

However, a few weeks ago I was awarded 'a ribbon of affection' by Carly from Carly Watts art and illustration. Yaaay!

Carly decided to create her own awards, without strict guidelines, so she could just give a shout out to a few of her favourite bloggers. The idea is you pick some of your blogger pals (or those who inspire you), and write a few reasons why they're awesome/how you met! If you haven't read Carly's blog before, she's an extremely talented artist and one the kindest people you could ever meet.

I always call Carly my favourite because she's incredible. I don't think she even realises how talented she is which is so endearing. I stumbled across her blog by chance and I'm so thankful I found her! She's kind, sweet and 100% adorable. I really want to meet her in person so I can give her a big squishy hug. We also commissioned her to illustrate us because we were blown away by her work. You can buy some of her pieces here, my favourites are nighteyes and the mermaid and the moon. Or for a really affordable fee, you can ask her to create something of your own just like we did. Thank you Carly for my award. It means so much to me. <3

Now for my choices (besides Carly ha)!

1. Sara of Waiste.

Oh Sara. I think there's an unwritten rule is the world that if your name is Sara or Sarah, you're a naturally snappy dresser. I met Sara about a year ago through her amazing re-worked vintage brand, Waiste. If you aren't familiar with Waiste, it's been seen on countless fashionistas including the one and only Cara Delevingne. I decided to nominate Sara because she really inspires me, not only because she's working hard and doing what she loves, but because she's so darn stylish. Her style is effortless in a Vanessa Hudgens-eque way and I just know this girl is going places. If you don't follow her personal style blog, go do it immediately.

My girl crush on Amy is a little bit embarassing but thankfully a trillion other bloggers feel the same way. I can't remember when I first discovered her blog, I think it was about a year ago when a brand RT'd her. My initial reaction was 'say whaaaaat!? This girl is a prettier version of Kristen Stewart!' However after I started following her blog properly, I realised she's approximately 8000 x hottter than KStew. Not only do I love her style (the things I'd do to own her wardrobe), I just love the way she writes. She really does crack me up!

3. Megan of Thumbelina Lillie.

Waaaaah, Megan. Megan is such a doll! I don't think she knows how beautiful she is, which is super cute. Her blog is well written and her beauty reviews are perfect for a beauty novice like me. I also love her outfits, she has such a pretty style and I think it's great that her blog is starting to grow. She was even shortlisted for this year's Cosmopolitan Blog Awards (y'all better vote for her). What a cutie patootie.

Choosing just 3 bloggers was pretty tough because I'm dedicated to following 60 brilliant blogs. Feel free to pass this award on, I think it's such a nice idea to send positive vibes to fellow bloggers. As for my chosen 3, I hope you have that warm and fuzzy feeling. ;)

T - Pass it on. XoX

Feeling Hella Good in Playful Promises!

Tuesday 20 August 2013

Last week I blogged about Playful Promises, an awesome British lingerie and swimwear brand. The PP team kindly sent me my favourite piece from their AW13 collection which I couldn't wait to style as outerwear!

Playful Promises Hella Body

I'm a huge fan of this trend and when done properly it can look awesome (and not even a little skanky). The weather is getting warmer again so no need for a cover up but if you aren't brave enough to wear it like this, you could always throw on a leather jacket or a kimono.

Underwear as outerwear trend.Body: c/o Playful promises - Maxi skirt: La Redoute - Boots and belt: New Look - Necklace: Accessorize

I decided to pair the hella block body (£35) with my favourite black maxi skirt from La Redoute. This is such an easy outfit and the body gives a great silhouette. I'm now on the hunt for some black high waisted jeans because I think that would also work really well.

La Redoute Lace Maxi Skirt

I've found that mixing different textures can create an interesting look, even if it's all one colour. My bodysuit is really silky and soft, the panels are also positioned perfectly so just the right amount of mesh is on show. Me likey.

Would you wear underwear as outerwear? Do you own any Playful Promises?

A Sequinned Rendez-Vous - Wildfox Ballroom Cardigan and Luxury Legs Layering!

Monday 19 August 2013

So maybe I bought my dream Wildfox this week *whistles innocently*, the Ballroom Cardigan that I wrote about a few weeks ago! As a stroke of luck, it just so happens that the Rendez-Vous Paris vest I was recently sent by legwear, shapewear and layering store Luxury Legs, is the perfect under layer for such a glitzy cover up, so I set to wearing them both in a weekend outfit :)

The vest is a super soft and stretchy stone coloured modal fabric and it's fast becoming my fave neutral layering piece. It's so stretchy that you can actually step into it and pull it up yet it will still keep it's shape all day long, and it's longline too so it's ideal for wearing under sheer slips or white broderie anglaise dresses for extra confidence. £29.50 might sound a lot for a plain neutral vest but trust me, you'll get it back and then some in terms of pounds per wear. Good quality layers are definitely worth paying that little bit more for because you will soon find yourself washing them over and over again as they become a wardrobe staple, especially in the colder months! I think I've gone through about 5 or 6 cheaper vests (I usually buy from H&M and they're less than a fiver) this year so far. You tell yourself that it's cheap and it doesn't matter but in terms of quality and value, it kind of does matter in the long run!

Anyhoo, to the outfit! . . .

Outfit: Cardigan - Wildfox Couture, Vest - c/o Luxury Legs, Choker - c/o Jon Richard, Jeans - Levis, Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Bag - Wildfox Couture, Belt - AQ/AQ.

uk style and fashion blog wildfox couture ballroom cardigan

I was adamant that I wasn't saving this cardigan for 'best', despite the cost and obvious glamour, so I paired it with my oldest jeans, a neutral vest and white pumps for a shopping trip this weekend, a pretty bold move for it's first outing!

The vest does a perfect job of neutralising the sequins without taking away any of their sparkle (I think that makes sense!) which is exactly what you need from a good base layer.

I think the choker is actually a wrap bracelet but while it fits my neck that's where it will be because I'm loving the brown leather and gold studs! The belt says 'WHENDOVESCRY'. It's from AQ/AQ (formerly known as Aqua) and as a huge Prince fan obviously I had to have it as soon as I saw it! I think it fierces up the whole look :)

uk style and fashion blog wildfox couture ballroom cardigan

I really love this outfit, my only problem now is that I want both the cardigan and the vest in the other available colours! I honestly despair at my own very expensive taste. TUT!

Check out the yummy selection of shapewear and legwear at Luxury Legs, for something a little bit special!

Illamasqua - The Sacred Hour!

Sunday 18 August 2013

I'm a tad excitable today because the new Illamasqua* collection, The Sacred Hour, hits the online store tomorrow. It released in Selfridges last week but I just haven't had a chance to get to the Trafford Centre, and I'm too tight to pay their shipping charges - blub! The name, 'The Sacred Hour' apparently refers to two times of the day, dawn and dusk, which are times for inner peace and reflection. I love Illamasqua and I now own quite a few bits and pieces since the store opened in Liverpool's Met Quarter shopping mall. I always try to get something from each collection so I'm excited to pick my fave from this one which will most definitely be Facet nail polish, described as a grey crystal, and looks like a shade I don't actually have a dupe of!

Until I can get my paws on The Sacred Hour, I'll leave you with a couple of pics of me wearing my fave Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Plentiful. My cousin got me their Lip Twin Set for my birthday and although the texture of the Obey lipstick doesn't really float my boat, I just adore this gloss. It's a really flattering peach which instantly warms my skin and lasts for ages despite being super glossy, hurrah!

I'll be super sad when my tube runs out because I think it's been discontinued, though I'm sure something will turn up on good old Ebay ;)  Are you an Illamasqua fan? Share your recommendations with me please!

J - The only time I'm looking forward to a Monday.
