New Outfit Post: Hunter Boots and A/W Traffic People!

Thursday 31 October 2013

Let me introduce you to the softest coat in the world. A few months ago, I announced that I didn't need a new coat for autumn/winter... Then my eyes started to wander and I met this beauty from Traffic People.

Traffic People Hold Me In Your Arms Coat
AS IF Regal Rose Necklace
Coat: c/o Traffic People - Bag: Michael Kors - Necklace: c/o Regal Rose

Good things come to those who wait because earlier in the week, my fairy fashion godmother delivered this uber cosy hold me in your arms coat to my front door. I did a little new coat dance, added a belt, and I haven't taken it off since. This is a size small and has room to fit a cosy knit in. I feel very gothic glam so decided to rock the black with gold accessories.

On another note, how adorable is this 'As If' heart necklace from Regal Rose? It's part of their brand spanking new collection and I can't help but channel my inner Cher whenever I wear it! I've also popped the Bad Ass version on my list for Santa, these little pendants make perfect Xmas gifts.

Hunter Boots Wellies from Blacks
Black Hunter Boots
Faux leather skinnies: c/o Next - Hunter boots: c/o Blacks

I finished off my outfit with some glossy hunter boots from Blacks. I've bought a lot of practical clothing from Blacks before for travelling/camping, but it's nice to see they're now working on fusing fashion with performance. Tons of celebrities wear Hunter wellies because let's face it, they aren't just great quality, they're pretty darn stylish. I opted for classic black so they'll go with everything!

Have you bought a new coat for autumn/winter? Are you a fan of fashionable outdoor clothing?

T - Ugh, AS IF. XoX

Rawr Girls Review: A Midnight Wonderland Boutique!

Tuesday 29 October 2013

Every now and again we get introduced to a cool new boutique which makes us squee inside! We do love the big Aussie and Cali brands but there's nothing quite like some homegrown talent which is easily accessible and kind to our wallets. I was recently sent a piece to review from A Midnight Wonderlandan exciting (and totally stylin') new online store from Wales.

A Midnight Wonderland Jewellery
Triple Threat Statement Necklace
Necklace: c/o A Midnight Wonderland

I opted for the Triple Threat statement necklace (£22) which is so me! It's colourful, the perfect amount of bling and as a Jay-Z fan, I think the name spoke to me on a subconscious level. It's also a great price for something so unusual, when I wear it I can be confident no one else will have it on. There's nothing worse than bumping into someone dressed the same as you! WAH.

A Midnight Wonderland don't just sell badass jewellery, they also stock some super cute clothing! How pretty is this lace biker? Postage starts from just £2 and is free when spend over £50 if you enter 'FREESHIP' at the checkout!

Have you heard of this boutique before? Are you a fan of statement necklaces?

T - Triple Threat. XoX

#OOTD - A Rose Gold Winter Warmer . . .

Monday 28 October 2013

This weekend I embraced the cold weather in full and got my classic black wool coat out. Saying that, I then proceeded to wear it over the tiniest of dresses and ridiculous heels so I wouldn't say we're in full winter swing just yet . . .

Outfit: Coat - Reiss, Dress - LOVE, Belt - Aq/Aq, Tights - Oasis, Boots - Jeffrey Campbell, Bag - c/o BANK, Necklace - French Connection, Bracelets - (Top) Dower & Hall (Middle) c/o A Midnight Wonderland (Bottom) Monica Vinader.

I think this all black outfit is all about the accessories. This is the first time I've worn these Oasis tights though I got them last winter I think, but they're GORGEOUS and I wish I would've remembered them sooner! I do love how they bounce off the cat Lita's despite major pattern clash.

This BANK rose gold metallic backpack (£20) is my new fave, isn't it delicious?! It's a beautiful warm metallic that seems to go with everything, and has the added bonus of tying together both gold and silver jewellery which is always a struggle for me! It's so cute, small but still roomy, and has already drawn a few admiring enquiries about where I got it from. I do love an attention seeker ;) I always feel like Cher Horowitz when I use my little backpacks, they're so adorable.

Staying with the rose gold theme (at least on this arm), I went with mixing my Dower & Hall and Monica Vinader bracelets with this yummy bead bangle from A Midnight Wonderland (£5) It's stackable with the other styles in the store, and just rolls on up your arm! The colours are SO pretty, and the pattern reminds me of snakeskin. I want them all!

This was just my Saturday shopping outfit but aside from having a good old nosey around Cheshire Oaks, this was quite a big weekend for me, but that's another blog post . . . I know, I'm a tease but you'll have to wait ;)

J - Just rosey.

Meltin' Pot Reversible B-Side Jeans with MINKPINK!

Friday 25 October 2013

Today's post features the most exciting pair of skinnies I've ever seen. Say hello to my reversible B-Side jeans from Meltin' Pot! That's right kids, they're 100% reversible so that's 2 pairs of jeans in 1. Be impressed.

Reversible Jeans Meltin Pot Leopard Print
MINKPINK Like a Hawk Sweater
MinkPink Jumper: c/o Spoiled Brat - Jeans: c/o Meltin' Pot - ASH Bowie Wedges - Rings: c/o F21 - Bracelets: Next

In the first photo I'm wearing the all black denim on the outside. I don't think a girl can have too many pairs of black jeans - I live in dark skinnies during autumn/winter! The denim is extremely soft and the perfect thickness, I'm wearing a size 27 and they fit true to size.

My Emma leggings retail for 129 which I think is a pretty awesome price for designer denim, especially since you get 2 different looks out of them.

Meltin' Pot EMMA G2903 GE002
Gold Leopard Skinny Jeans

The reverse side has a cool gold leopard print that isn't too OTT, it's just the right amount of gold. When my mum spotted them she immediately wanted a pair (without the leopard I hope) and was pleasantly surprised by the cost. I've noticed that there's even an offer on the website at the moment where you can get 20% off your first order! Amazing.

My super fly hawk jumper is by the incredible MinkPink at Spoiled Brat. I've had my beady eyes on it for a while now so I was really chuffed when SB offered to treat me to it for co-hosting the #SBTakeover a few weeks back. This is a size small and I love how oversized it is!

Have you ever heard of reversible jeans? Are you a fellow MinkPink lover?

T - Feeling like Bret McKenzie. XoX

Brat & Suzie Howling Wolf Vest With Docs!

Thursday 24 October 2013

Is there anybody out there who loves Brat & Suzie more than me!? I think not. Last week I was sent a vest from their new autumn/winter collection and it's probably one of my favourite B&S pieces ever.

Brat and Suzie Howling Wolf Vest
Brat & Suzie AW13Vest: c/o Brat & Suzie - Cardigan: eBay - Satchel and boots: Dr. Martens - Guess Jeans: c/o McArthurGlen - Bracelet: River Island - Ring: Lovisa

I've been looking for a cute wolf top for almost 2 years. Seriously. While I was backpacking around the world my boyfriend and I both worked for the same awesome T-Shirt company in Sydney. One day he came home with the wolf tee of my dreams (for him). #Gutted However, I'm no longer bitter because thanks to B&S I have this incredible howling wolf vest (£25) which is waaay better than his. It even has tiny silver gems on it aka little stars - so sweet! The fit is perfect, I love the length (everybody needs to make vests this long) and it's really soft. Hollie the wolf even has her own headphones so she can listen to Britney Spears!

Dr. Martens Oxblood Leather Satchel

I always like to 'double Docs' and the weather has become a bit nippy recently so I officially declare it Docs weather! These boots are the most comfy DM's I own and this satchel always goes down well, it's such a delicious colour.

Are you a fan of Brat & Suzie? Do you wear Dr. Martens?

Rawrgirls Review . . . Artdeco Cream Rouge For Cheeks and Lips!

Tuesday 22 October 2013

I do love a good cream blush, and the Artdeco Cream Rouge for Cheeks & Lips (RRP £12 each) is my new fave! The finely-milled pigments provide an evenly pigmented finish, it's free of fragrances, parabens, talc and silicon, and thanks to the wax and oil base it is easily blended to how you like it. It can also be used on the lips so it's an ideal handbag buddy.

I nabbed Creamy Pink and Creamy Orange, and I can't choose a favourite, so I used both of them for the purposes of this review!

Whenever I shop in Liverpool I always have to have a little nosey at the Artdeco display in Debenhams Liverpool One so when I discovered that us Artdeco Debenhams Liverpool One girls have our own Facebook Page I was like, LIKE! ;) Such a good idea to have individual FB fan pages for department store concessions, us girls do love to have a gab about our fave things and share tips, I'd love to see more like this!

Back to the review . . . I'm a fan of the Artdeco packaging anyway, it's sleek but sturdy, but the mirror in this product is pretty handy considering it's an on the move touch up item. The colours in the pots look super bright but don't be scared, it's easy to apply them with a sheer finish and build them up to a brighter look if you prefer :)

I always find taking pics of any face products difficult because the colours can just disappear on camera but I tried my best! The Creamy pink was used on the apples of my cheeks while the Creamy Orange was used on my cheekbones for a bit of warm contouring, and also on my lips. It has a gorgeous silky texture which leaves no sticky feeling on the skin which is a total bonus with cream blush and it sits on the lips like a creamy gloss, and does not dry up to a chalky residue which is a pet hate of mine when using 2 in 1 lip and cheek products - hurrah!

This pic shows the colours after a little blemish concealing (mainly on my chin though) and a very light dusting of powder on my T Zone (I actually like a dewy cheeked look so I tend to avoid powdering that area anyway). I haven't applied any other blush or bronzer on top of the review product and you can definitely see the Cream Rouge glowing through still, it looks so fresh and natural and I'm really pleased with the way Creamy Pink and Creamy Orange work together! The orange looks really good on the top of my cheekbones, more natural looking than using a bronzer for shading I think? The Creamy Orange on my lips is so pretty, it instantly warms my skin up and makes me wonder why this is the first orange cream gloss in my kit?! I have had a few juicy, clear oranges but none like this until now. TUT!

Overall this is a product I can definitely recommend buying if you're a cream blush fan. I even love it on my lips, so it's great value for money!

If Debenhams Liverpool One is your local beauty haunt, make sure you like the Artdeco Debenhams Liverpool page because they often post about exclusive offers and events that you might miss if you haven't popped in for a while! There is nothing more annoying than finding out about a discount day, or a chance to check out a new product before anyone else, after it's been and gone!

J - Artdeco oh oh oh!

In Bed With A Rawrsome South Beach Onesie!

Monday 21 October 2013

South Beach, whilst initially a pretty darn hot beach and swimwear store, is now branching out into beauty, tanning, nightwear and loungewear, and by the hair of RPatz, they're doing it well!

I got my paws on this super cute Georgia Soft Animal Print Hooded Ears Onesie (£30), for a little show and tell. I do like a cute onesie, but a good one is surprisingly hard to find. They're either too thick, too stiff, too manly or too goddamn tight! Tis rare to find one that's totally Goldilocks but this one is jusssssssst right ;)

This is a Medium which is about a 12 and it's snug and feminine fitting, but not uncomfortably tight, plus the cashmere soft (and it is that soft!) material has a little stretch in it which is always nice in loungewear. I love the kangaroo pockets and I'm obsessed with the hood, it's totally useable and has those sweet little ears on top! Of course this means that you'll find yourself messing with them whilst deep in thought or perhaps even palm washing them like your cat does.

There are some nice little design touches, like the pink pullstrings, plus the branding to the zipper and this little metal label plate. Look how soft and fluffy the brushed cotton looks too!

This would make an awesome gift for a girly girl in your life, I know my BFF Stephy would probably love how it looks and feels on :) This is true for all of the new bits on South Beach; gorgeous nightwear, fun slippers and yummy winter accessories, and right now you can get free Lauren's Way Dream Rollers worth £7.95 with any order of £40 or more, so it's the perfect time to get some christmas pressies (GASP!) sorted whilst giving yourself some morning bounce - hurrah!

P.S. Sign up for the South Beach Newsletter here, and then keep your eyes out for a bit of a Rawr surprise soon ;)

Tartan at Tightsplease! Red or Dead Kiele!

Sunday 20 October 2013

I love the tartan trend and I've been after a nice pair of tartan tights for a few weeks now so when Tightsplease sent me a little package and I spied these Red or Dead Kiele bad boys I was like, weeeeeeeeeeeee!

These are the Petrol colour, a cool royal blue with red and grey check and they match my fave bag and hat combo perfectly, so it didn't take too much thought to run with an all black outfit to really make them pop :) Please excuse the photo quality of the first pic, I'm still struggling with taking pics using phones since my cameras (yes, plural!) died. Sometimes it works but lately the harsh dull autumn light just doesn't want to play ball. TUT! Anyhoo, this is a Liverpool shopping outfit, and note the lack of coat because yep, it THREW it down at about 4pm. Note to self, bowler hats do not protect you like an umbrella does . . .  ;)

Outfit: Jumper - F21, Skirt - Oasis, Boots - Debenhams, Hat - H&M, Bag - Zatchels, Tights - c/o Tightsplease.

uk style and fashion blog tights please tartan tights zatchels

They are so silky smooth and rich in colour even when stretched on your leg. I think it's definitely worth paying a bit more for tights because you get so much more from them when they're better quality. These ones retail at £13 which isn't bad at all, and there's a choice of Grey, Petrol or Prune. They held their shape all day (knee and ankle bunching is a real pet hate of mine!) and I'm really impressed!

uk style and fashion blog tights please tartan tights zatchels

Tightsplease has been a Rawr fave for years, probably the first place I go to when I want a special pair of tights or socks, and I'll be hooking up with Red or Dead again for sure!

J - Tartan tights? Yes please!

Rawr Girls Review: iMo Camera Strap from Rigu!

Saturday 19 October 2013

The most essential part of my blogging kit is my DSLR. Us bloggers love our cameras which is why we like to buy nice little houses for it and dream of one day owning a dream camera home, aka a Grafea mansion.

I was recently sent a camera strap from Rigu.co.uk, an online store based in the beautiful Lake District. They sell fun and quirky camera accessories which are perfect for injecting a bit of personality to an otherwise boring (and in my case) black camera.

!mo camera strap from Rigu
!mo camera strap: c/o Rigu

Unlike the standard Nikon strap, this one has neoprene on the inside which makes it really comfortable. Ideal if you're carrying your camera around all day. It features a quick release system, brown nylon webbing and leather accents emblazoned with the !mo logo.

Each strap is tested so it's guaranteed to hold a lot of weight and will keep your little baby safe. My metallic silver strap (£16.99) is by brand !mo, who are based in Hong Kong. Rigu are the only company in the UK selling their straps at the moment so I definitely recommend checking them out! Camera straps make the perfect gift for bloggers or photo-enthusiasts. I'm now eyeing up a few of the other styles they stock, I've spotted some adorable multi-coloured ones...I hope my friends are taking note since Christmas is just around the corner. ;) You can even get 10% off your order with the code 'RAWR10' and free UK delivery.

I had to take this photo (on the floor of my favourite train) with my HTC One but the quality is surprisingly good for a phone. What do you think of my new camera strap? I like to think it screams "I'm super cool just like my momz!" A-hem.

T - Snap happy. XoX

AW13 at Brat and Suzie: BFF Cats Sweatshirt!

Darker days + bad weather = a constant fight against the lack of light. Thankfully I managed to get some outfit snaps of my awesome BFF Cats Sweatshirt from Brat & Suzie! When the weather is yucky I just want to wear cute, comfortable clothing...

Jon Richard Poppy RingBrat & Suzie BFF Cat Sweatshirt
Sweatshirt (out in November): Brat & Suzie - Cat Watch: c/o Tigerlilly Quinn - Poppy ring: c/o Jon Richard

I'm a huge fan of Brat & Suzie and I always get excited every time they launch a new collection. I was lucky enough to win this sweater in a Twitter competition run by the brilliant Fashion Fox blog and it isn't going to be officially released until November! I guess this is a Rawr Girl exclusive... ;)

I loved FF's interview with the designers behind B&S, I find the history of brands so interesting! I actually met Polly earlier this year and she's an absolute sweetheart (and fellow Bristolian). I can't wait to drool over the other pieces in their new autumn/winter range.

My sparkly poppy ring is by Jon Richard for the The Royal British Legion charity - read more about it here!

Are you a fan of Brat & Suzie? Would you wear this sweater?

French Connection Misty Fern Trousers and L.K. Bennett Rosamund Bag!

Wednesday 16 October 2013

I've spent the past month drooling over the new autumn/winter collection at French Connection. I rather fancy some of their leather pieces (including their delicious handbags) but the #1 item on my want list has been a pair of statement skinnies!

L.K. Bennett Rosamund Medium Bag in Black
French Connection Misty Fern Trousers
Hat: H&M - Vest: Warehouse - Cardi: c/o Forever 21 - Trousers: c/o French Connection - Bag: L.K. Bennett - Boots: New Look

I'm a self-confessed denimaholic but sometimes I just want to wear something more comfortable than jeans. I like wearing dresses but they don't always keep me the warmest in A/W, which is why statement print trousers are a great alternative! These French Connection Misty Fern Trousers are high-waisted and have a good amount of stretch in them. I'm wearing a size 10 and they fit really well, I love how they feel on and the nifty side and ankle zips.

The print is rather unusual so I decided to let my pants do the talking by pairing them with a simple black vest and cardigan.

FCUK Misty Skinnies

You can see the print a bit better in the above photo...Tres chic, right!? I'm also showing off my yummy Rosamund bag from L.K. Bennett. I think it's the most expensive bag I own at the moment, I'm not a huge fan of designer bags because they're so darn heavy but this one is nice and light. The leather is buttery soft.

Are you a fan of statement trousers? Have you bought anything from French Connection recently?

How To Customise Denim With McArthurglen Part 2! #ArtOfDenim

Tuesday 15 October 2013

I'm very rarely seen without a bit of denim in an outfit, and while I don't have quite as many pair of jeans as Tara (who does?!) I definitely have my fair share! So when we were contacted by McArthurGlen Designer Outlets to take part in their blogger denim customising challenge, we were like, yessssssssssssssss!! As Tara said yesterday, we both received a very exciting chest stuffed to the brim with tools and trims, and of course, two yummy pieces of premium denim to work with!

If you aren't familiar with McArthurGlen, they have six outlet stores (Ashford, Bridgend, Cheshire Oaks, East Midlands, Swindon and York) which stock on-trend designer and premium fashion bargains for less (up to 60% off). I am often found in the Cheshire Oaks outlet village bagging myself affordable treats!

Anyhoo, in my chest I found an amazing classic Levis denim jacket and a hot pair of grey 7 For All Mankind skinnies. Talk about winning from the get go . . .

Outfit: Jacket - Levis c/o McArthurGlen, Jeans - 7FAM c/o McArthurGlen, Hat - H&M, Vest - TShirt Subway, Shoes - Dr Martens.

uk style and fashion blog #artofdenim customising studs outfit post

I don't think I need to comment on how amazing the Levis jacket is. It's just classic cool. Surprisingly I don't have one in my wardrobe since I grew out of the one I had in uni (oh the pain of age!), so I literally squee'd and held it up like Simba when I pulled it out of the chest!

The 7FAM jeans are absolute babes too. I sized up to get a boyfriend-esque fit and they look all kinds of awesome sitting low on my hips and turned up. Premium denim like this never gets old. I have a few pairs of 7FAM and these are definitely my new faves, effortlessly stylish by themselves and super comfortable.

uk style and fashion blog #artofdenim customising studs outfit post

I thought the jacket and the jeans gave off a bit of a long hair don't care roadie vibe when paired together, so I nabbed my fave Prince vest, some of my cute vintage Prince badges and my DM's and set to studding up a storm!

Less is definitely more, and seeing as I decided early on to put the focus on my jacket I decided to just do a simple stud design on the turn up on one leg of the jeans. I think it works really well!

I had what I thought was a cool idea of doing a leopard print stud pattern on the arm of the jacket, but I soon realised that it was harder than a very hard thing on Planet Hard. Never knowingly outdone however, I carried on regardless and this is what I ended up with. Call it a haphazard collection of random patterns if you want but I swear to Patz, I can see the leopard spots in there somewhere ;) Carpe diem okay? I looked hot in it.

I carried on the 'leopard' (ahem) studding onto the collar just to keep it flowing a little, then added my Prince badges and ta daaaaaa! Roadie/groupie chic circa 1988. Lovesexy indeed.

I had a pretty good time working this challenge and it's definitely inspired me to try a little customising on other pieces in my wardrobe. I totally plan to nail the leopard studding idea, maybe by picking up some black and gold studs and working my pattern out on grid paper . . . oh the possibilities!

As Tara said yesterday, this blogger challenge ties in with McArthurGlen's latest campaign called The Art of Denim which runs from 5th-20th October. Their six outlets have launched a creative schedule of denim activity and they're even offering shoppers further savings on denim labels!

If you fancy winning a £50 gift card to spend at your nearest McArthurGlen outlet, just click here for the details of our latest Twitter giveaway which ends this weekend. How to Customise Denim with McArthurGlen! #ArtOfDenim

Monday 14 October 2013

I'm a self-confessed denimaholic. I've lost count of how many pairs of jeans I own but it's quite a lot and my denim even has its own wardrobe! We were recently contacted by McArthurGlen Designer Outlets who asked if we'd like to take part in their blogger customising challenge. They sent us a wooden chest full of studs, gems, cotton and all the tools we would need to customise some designer denim bargains.

If you aren't familiar with McArthurGlen, they have six outlet stores (Ashford, Bridgend, Cheshire Oaks, East Midlands, Swindon and York) which stock on-trend designer and premium fashion bargains for less (up to 60% off). I love shopping at outlets because I'm always on the hunt for a bargain. My closest McArthurGlen is Swindon which I'm hoping to visit before Christmas so I can buy some pressies.

The Art Of Denim Challenge
Autumn DIY Guide
Dress: 7FAM and Jeans: Guess c/o McArthurGlen - Jacket: c/o Very - Hat: H&M - Shoes: ASH

You've probably noticed that I do love a good bit of studding. I wish I was handy with a sewing machine/needle but since I'm not, I decided to soley use the studs from my luxury customisation chest. My chambray dress is by 7FAM, one of the coolest denim brands around. I removed the tie from around the middle and created this cool design near the collar. I'm really happy with how it turned out, it was quite a girly dress before but thanks to the new embellishment and this leather jacket, I think it looks rather edgy!

My Guess jeans fit like a dream (they're honestly the comfiest jeans ever) and since they already have a slightly distressed look, I simply studded one of the small pockets.

Customising Designer Denim
7FAM Denim Dress from McArthurGlen

Sometimes I think less is more when it comes to DIY. I didn't want to ruin my designer denim, just enhance it slightly by making it a little 'more me'. I'm also liking the double denim combo here, I usually wear leggings under dresses, never jeans!

This blogger challenge ties in with McArthurGlen's latest campaign called The Art of Denim, which runs from 5th - 20th October. Their six outlets have launched a creative schedule of denim activity and they're even offering shoppers further savings on denim labels including The Kooples, Diesel, Guess, Levi’s and more! If you fancy winning a £50 gift card to spend at your nearest McArthurGlen outlet, just click here for the details of our latest Twitter giveaway.

What do you think of my autumn customisation skills? Are you a fan of DIY?

Win £50 to spend at McArthurGlen Designer Outlets!

We're in the mood to launch a new competition! To celebrate McArthurGlen's 'The Art of Denim' campaign, which kicked off last Saturday, McArthurGlen is offering one of our lucky readers the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher to spend at one of its six designer outlets in the UK.

From 5th - 20th October, McArthurGlen’s six UK designer outlets will launch a creative schedule of denim activity. Highlights include a DONNA IDA pop-up shop at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, for a limited time only, a share-zone which will screen live feeds of street-style shots uploaded by shoppers on instagram using #ArtOfDenim. There's even an exclusive free denim tote bag which shoppers will be able to customise with their own personal designs, and a bespoke monogramming and embroidery service.

As part of this campaign, we were both sent a wooden chest containing a designer denim outfit and a customisation kit. We've since finished working on our pieces and you'll be able to judge our handiwork in some new outfit posts next week. Now onto the competition deetz...

To enter all you need to do is tweet a picture of you in your favourite denim outfit/piece of clothing to @McArthurGlenUK and @TheStyleRawr, including the #ArtOfDenim hashtag. Here's an example:

"My favourite denim outfit: pic.twitter.com/xxxxx for the @McArthurGlen @TheStyleRawr #ArtOfDenim Twitter #competition"
