The Stargazer Shake And Bling Challenge!

Introducing a Rawrgirl's entry to the Stargazer Shake & Bling Challenge!

Stargazer have been challenging bloggers to create a bit of fancy nail art using a selection of their products - 1 Nail Polish, 1 Glitter Shaker, 1 Nail Art Pen, a set of Nail Gems and a base/top coat of your choice, so I thought 'Hmmm, why the hellz not?!'.

I chose nail polish number 118 (an opaque white), a red Glitter Shaker pot, a black Nail Art Pen and a pack of teeny Nail Gems. Look see...

Then I applied my love of Alice In Wonderland and Gambit from X-Men (NERD ALERT!) to inspire these playing card nails! What do you think? I did it all myself, beams with pride....

The base is 3 coats of the 118 polish and I also applied a clear top coat. Once that was dry, I painstakingly made a clear polish guide in the shapes of a heart and a diamond and tapped the red Glitter Shaker onto each nail so the glitter caught onto the polish and stuck, I pushed it into place using an orange stick and finished with a few random nail gems to make the shape pop!

The black spade and club were hand drawn (holding my breath!) with the black Nail Art Pen, and once again finished with a sporadic Nail Gem. As there is only 4 suits to a deck, I decided to simply gem up my thumbnail so it wouldn't detract from the 4 main nails. And that was it, da daaaaaa!

I kinda love these nails. Granted I only did one hand, and simply painted the other hand in a bright red, but I think that looks cool. And I'd like to shake the person by the hand who can draw on a club with their 'wrong' hand!

I had a ball doing this. Stargazer have some amazing nail products (amongst other cosmetics obvi), check out the full range on their webby and be inspired to create your own nails with attitude!

J - I challenge thee to a nail off!

Clippy Luxe - Droooooooool!!

Most of us are probably familiar with Clippy London, the customisable bags that you quite literally make 'your own' by adding bits and bobs to the clear pockets? Well they have just released a new line - Clippy Luxe, a delicious range of leather Clippy's in fabulous metallics, girly pinks and sexy black and pink mock python!

I got my sticky paws on the Glitzy Gold Money Bag - £17.50, and it is truly gorgeous! The Hi Kitty Sticker Kit Bits set - £4, was a must for me being a cat lover, and so I set to work....

The leather is super soft and I love the subtle metallic sheen whilst the gold trims make it look so, well, luxe!

How girly is the candy pink lining?! This bag is definitely big enough to take out as a clutch, holding your cards, cash and a lipgloss.

I used the sticker kit to create a basic scene on one side, cute huh? But you can add anything to the mix to really personalise your bag - so on the other side I dropped in a piece of zebra card, a Harajuku Lovers tag, my favourite Prince heart shaped pin and my NEIVZ name necklace to pop a bit of me in there! I need to raid my photo albums and get some faux fur sample squares to really make my mark on this bad boy though. I foresee a mini collage.....PROJECT!

I love this thing! My other fave item from the Luxe range is the Phone Home - £18, how gorgeous is this?! It comes in pink, and black as shown - YUM!

Clippy's make amazing gifts, I bought one for a friend last summer and she adores it, saying everyone comments on how unique it is. The new Luxe range is bumping unique up to total chic!

Rawr Girl in Australia: Check out Forever New!

G'day Little Rawrers!! Missed me? Well I've missed you more!

I've been in Australia for 3 weeks now, soaking up the sun, culture & of course most importantly, the shops! I haven't visited any of the huge cities yet, so I've just been browsing all the small-ish shopping malls that I've come across on my journey down the east coast.

First things first, I miss the UK Highstreet! WAAAAAH! It looks like Oz doesn't have that many awesome yet *affordable* shops. Saying that, I have found a couple of Gems that I will share with you over next few weeks/months...Muhahaha!

Awesome store #1 - Forever New!

I was instantly drawn into this store while in Cairns, it's so gorgeous & girly. Here are some of my favourite pieces...

Edith Floral Prom Dress (AUD $149.99)

This is by far the sweetest little dress I've seen in months. How cute!?

Caddy (AUD $89.99).

Say what!? A perfect pair of gold heels guaranteed to go with *almost* every outfit!? Take that Office!! ;)

Pleated Bandeaux Dress (AUD $119.99).

Okay, I dare you to tell me you don't love this little pleated number. I actually need it...NOW. Mum, I know you read the blog- please wire me the money. I'll have the perfect tan for this in a month! ;)

Tee Trolley Suitcase (AUD $99.99).

I can hear your gasps from here! Oh yes. I'd happily trade in my backpack for this baby. Cath Kidston, who? ;)

Layered Beaded Edge Camisole (AUD $69.99).

Really delicate & really pretty. I'd feel like a little Rawr dolly in this!

There are so many beautiful items by Forever New that it would take all day to share them all. You should definitely check out their website to see the full selection. I think I need to start a 'bring Forever New to the UK' campaign! Any of you Rawrers fancy signing it? Stalk them on Facebook & Twitter.

T- Would rather own Forever New than eat food. FN, if you ever need a pet brit blogger, holla at me! ;) xoxo

Glossybox!

Sunday, 25 September 2011

The Glossybox girls were kind enough to send me September's box so I could see what beauty's latest buzz was, and yes, now I can see what the fuss is about! For those of you who have been under a rock for the past few months, Glossybox is a monthly subscription (£12.95 a month) to receive a luxurious box filled with a surprise mix of 5 high-end beauty samples, with the intention of introducing the recipient to at least one product that they will purchase again.

The box itself is a treat from the postman; packaged securely in a secure cardboard outer which rips open to reveal this giftbox which looks like it could hold luxury lingerie! I am a sucker for a pretty face...

I'd heard the contents of the last few Glossybox's were top notch so I was excited to open mine, and this is what I found...

The contents are:

HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy

L’Oreal Professional Mythic Oil 125ml

Plum by Mary Greenwell sample vial

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse 10ml

StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate 7ml

I think like most other recipients I was most excited by the HD Brows palette which is indeed YUMMY! I have black eyebrows and usually just take it super lightly with a pencil but this is a whole new ballgame.

I'd read about the L'Oreal Mythic Oil in Look Magazine, and despite having a giggle over the name, it's actually really nice stuff and I have already recommended it to a few friends.

Plum by Mary Greenwell is an acquired scent for sure, but I quite like the autumn fruits base. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse and StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate are not products I would ever look at in a store, so although they don't make me want to rush out and buy them, I can appreciate that Glossybox has brought my attention to items I probably would never have tried.

I love the fact that Glossybox are getting ready for christmas and introducing a gift subscription, it's such a cool idea because my first thought upon opening the box was that my cousin (a beauty obsessive) and my friend's mum (a lady I have always looked up to as a beauty and style goddess!) would LOVE this!

Overall, I was impressed by Glossybox. At £12.95 delivered a month it's probably a treat for most of us when you consider that you might not want or use a lot of the items you get, but if you spend a lot of money on beauty products anyway I can see how you might want to add this to your life, I'm certainly tempted by a subscription!

MeMeMe Smokey Eyes Create The Look Gift Set at FindMeAGift

So Christmas is a coming and it's going to be gift set heaven in the shops. Findmeagift is a fab online giftstore and now they are stocking MeMeMe Cosmetics - hurrah! They were sweet enough to send me the Smokey Eyes Create The Look Gift Set - £15.99, to try out.

It's a neat little giftbox containing an Eye Inspire Eyeshadow Trio 01, an Eye Sweep Liquid Definer Pen, Fat Cat Volumising Mascara, Eye Line Pencil in Coal and an instruction card :)

I set to work following the How To card included in the box and I love the results! The products were great to work with, I especially liked the Fat Cat Volumising Mascara, you can see how long it made my lashes look! I usually rely on false lashes for dramatic looks like this but in the spirit of instructions following I gave them a miss for this one.

The instructions were really easy to follow and ideal for beginners, so this makes an ideal gift because you wouldn't have to worry about the receiver feeling challenged, and anyway, who doesn't love a bit of a muck about with new beauty products?!

Overall I think any of my friends would be super happy with this set as a gift, and it's really good value for money when you consider that you get 4 fab products. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the MeMeMe range at Findmeagift (I'm looking at you Catwalk Collection Nail Varnish Set)!

J - It's all about Me Me Me!

One of our fave pieces strutting down the runway at The Look Show AW11 was this adorable River Island Light Pink Lace Shift Dress, £50!

Perfectly feminine in baby pink lace with a creamy white diamante edged collar, this dress would look just as cute with chunky boots and socks as it does on the gorgeous model in her party heels!

We had to go check it out in real life after seeing it at the show and we papped a sneaky pic of it on the rail, it's sweeeeeeeeet!

You can now watch last weekend's The Look Show from Westfield Stratford City in all it's glory HERE! Check it out and tell us your fave outfit!

Jeffrey Campbell Uniform Brogues from Zalando - Silver Glitter LOVE!

I love the androgynous look but flat brogue style shoes have never really been my thing, but being the trend whore that I am I wanted a pair regardless. Sooooo I thought, why not make them a flashy pair that I'll have fun wearing? Enter Zalando and the Jeffrey Campbell Uniform Glitter Silver. At £55 they are an affordable JC shoe and the most fun my feet could have in flat shoes that don't have wheels on ;)

I shall be wearing these bad boys on Friday night with H&M faux leather trousers and a dalmatian sweater from River Island, so look out for that outfit post this weekend but for now - my pretties...

I ordered a 38 (UK5) and although quite narrow, they fit true to size. The glitter seems to be holding firm so far, and there is A LOT of it! I'm not massively keen on the dark grey laces, they're a bit long and thick for the shoe in my opinion, but I haven't yet investigated alternatives. They could look ridiculously cute (and also just plain ridiculous) with ribbon laces, so that's something I might entertain trying! My friend tried them on and they made her dance, I'm not lying, she literally started pretending to tap dance. See? Flashy shoes are fun!

Zalando have a great selection of Jeffrey Campbell shoes at good prices too; Lita's start at £120 which is decent for a store catering for the UK (I've seen them higher). Delivery was fast and the packaging was a good solid box so my shoebox inside was pristine. I sound like a problem child saying that but one of my pet hates is buying shoes online and receiving them to find the box is battered because they ship them in a plastic bag type thing - gahhh!

I would definitely buy from Zalando again. Their link now resides in my favourites bar and I think I'll be popping a small selection of their wares into the 'Jade Wants' file which I usually bring to BF's attention around November each year *whistles*....

Anyhoo, sign up to the newsletter to get a £5 off voucher for orders over £30, it's better than a kick in the shins by a tap dancing, glittery shoe wearing shoebox freak!

J - Yet MOAR reasons to want another pair of Lita's. Damn you Zalando.

New Fave Thing - Cloth Magpie Smartphone Pocket.

I discovered Cloth Magpie's printed bags when I spied them on lovely blogger Emily Devine's post here, they are just so cheery and cute, so when Sam at Cloth Magpie sent me a Smartphone Pocket (£15) in the Conker Orange print, a yummy autumnul pattern, for my much loved Sony Xperia I was instantly smitten!

Available for a multitude of smartphone's, these little pouches are ideal for chicks like me who, a) has a daily fight with her phone - the slippery little sucker, and b) finds the majority of phone pouches/socks/cases, to be erm, less than super chic?! Fashioned from a hardwearing cloth outer in Cloth Magpie's signature prints, they each feature a little pocket on the front and chocolate brown faux suede lining, to help protect and polish your screen while your little buddy has a snooze between tweets and texts!

It's a perfect fit for my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 despite being made for an Xperia Neo and I've had so many compliments on it since I started using it. At £15 they'd make a sweet little fashionista stocking filler for christmas (yes, I'm an annoying 'thinks about christmas gifting in September' person!). Check out the full Cloth Magpie range for yourself, it's all designed and made in England, a touch of nostalgia in our super modern world :)

AW11 High Street Trends At The Look Show Part 1 - Go Glam With Sequins, Leather and Animal Magnetism.

Monday, 19 September 2011

There was a lot of love for the glamourous life on the Look Show runway - sequins, leather, faux fur and animal prints were featured throughout, so I was obviously in my element.

Here are a few of my fave looks, the majority of these pieces are available right now in store or online so be sure to check them out!

Gold glitz at Warehouse, this dress is £90 and screams christmas parties. With bells on!

Dear Mango, Marry Me? This was my fave outfit on the runway that day. A black leopard print sequin jacket, sheer shirt and super sexy leather trousers. I pretty much need that jacket in my wardrobe for the rest of my life!

Mango really did it for me at the show, it was a constant droolfest. I loved this sequin star print vest teamed with a red leather skirt and white smoking jacket, so glam!

Totally fell in love with this leather sleeved coat from Oasis, eyes out for this one girls!

Snakeskin print is huge this season and Oasis sent this super chic sheer blouse down the runway paired with a gorgeous pair of sapphire blue trousers.

We loved this dual colour faux fur coat from Warehouse, £100. The shaggy fur is very cool and looks really ladylike teamed with an elegant knee length skirt or dress.

This limited edition bag from Oasis is £80 and online now. It might be super hot right now, but this style and print will be around forever.

Leopard print tights at M&S (sorry for the poor pic, I get distracted by animal print anything!). M&S are doing some amazing tights right now, their grey marl leopard mock stockings tights are to die for! These black leopard ones from the runway are from the Autograph range, cost £9.50 and are available now.

I think AW11 is looking like a hot one ;)

Celeb Spotting At The Look Show, Westfield Stratford City!

It was an amazing surprise to find out that Sarah Harding would be walking the runway at The Look Show at the weekend! I was literally too busy gawping at her fabulous self to take pics but I managed to get this one (which I love because you can see Alesha Dixon admiring her hotstepping strut too!)! She looked super hot in a Miss Selfridge outfit, with her new fiery strawberry blonde hair - fierce!

I later found the Contrast Ponti Blazer - £45, and HALO Black Jewel Bar Heels - £65, at the Westfield Stratford City branch of Miss Selfridge, and got some sneaky pics for you!

As if spying Sarah and Alesha wasn't enough, halfway through the show Dionne Bromfield suddenly appeared and walked the runway singing her hit, Yeah Right, live - she was gorgeous and SO talented! She rocked the hellz out of a River Island outfit, a Gold Metallic Top - £30, Black Faux Leather Motocross Leggings - £30 and a sky high pair of Colour Block Peeptoe Slingback Heels - £60!

It was cool to look across the way and see Alesha Dixon enjoying herself no end, dancing away and grinning happily as Dionne did her thing! She was so gorgeous, I imagine she has a hell of a catwalk stride on her too!

How gorgeous do these gals look in their high street pieces? It really does show that you don't have to spend a fortune on designerwear to make a noise in a crowd!

Thanks to Look Magazine, The Look Show and Westfield Stratford City for enabling my starstruck papping!

An Intro To The Look Show, Westfield Stratford City!

So as you may know, we were one of the lucky Look Magazine Final Five bloggers winning a VIP package for Look Magazine's The Look Show at the fantastic new mega mall, Westfield Stratford City, on 17th September - and it was AMAZING!

I thought I'd start our flurry of Look Show posts with a little photographic show and tell of my time there, a collection of photo opps that I grabbed along the way :)

We started our Saturday in the Look Lounge, a purpose built fashion haven in the mall for us to kick back and prepare for the show in! We felt very special as Lara, Becca and the Look crew made us welcome with access to the internet, refreshments and lots of excited chat about what was to come....PICS!

After the lounge, we moved onto the pre-show champagne reception, where we enjoyed a bit of bubbly and nibbles from M&S as the press went crazy outside for the celebs! I met up with fellow winners, the stunning Sarah from burntheblonde and super sweet Sarah from Temporary:Secretary, plus their lovely guests, and I also finally met Sara from SaraLuxe and last years Look Show SS11 winner Amelia of Amelia's Fashion Land!

When we got to the show itself it was so exciting - the runway area looked pristine, the goodybags were laid out (and everyone tried super hard to refrain from having a rummage!) and I set to checking out the different looks from the audience. Everyone looked super styling but I spotted a chick opposite me who had the Horse Print Shopper Bag from Next - £28, that I love, and took a sneaky pap of it!

Finally, a quick pic of me and my guest, Stephanie (Tara is away travelling (sob!) and couldn't come but I couldn't have asked for a more enthusiastic plus one. We've been best friends forever and Steph was there snapping the models and telling me where she'd spied things on the high street - good girl!

We had SUCH a great time, and definitely want to say a huge thanks to Look Magazine and the AMAZING brands and companies that contributed to our prize package!

Westfield Stratford City - For the very generous £200 giftcard, that I dropped ALL OVER the new mall - SQUEEEE!

Premier Inn - For the lovely sleep after a busy day, in a room with a bathroom nicer than my own!

Toni & Guy Westfield - For the new and improved Rawrgirl haircut and goody bags! Couldn't have asked for a better service!

Bumpkin Restaurant - For a DELICIOUS evening meal with cocktails and wine a-flowing to keep us girlies going!

Vue Cinemas - For giving us the perfect excuse to stare at Justin Timberlake for 90 mins - it's complimentary!

All Star Lanes - We're gonna scorrrrrrre tonight! And we did! At bowling silies!!

So that was our Look Show day - A-MA-ZING! Now let's move onto the clothes - eyes peeled Look Show fans!

All photos are property of this blog, as seen by my own keen eye and taken by my own fair hand on the day ;)

J - Still recovering!
