Men's Nike KD 8's Sneakers Review

It's taken almost 12 years but I finally understand Sam's style. I'd happily pick out an outfit for him and be 80% sure he'd like it. Similar to me, he has a thing for statement sneakers so it's no surprise he was drawn to these Nike KD 8 trainers from Footlocker

We both love Nike trainers, they have the best fit and are really comfortable as they have dreamy cushioned soles. When he took them out of the box, I initially thought they were silver but they are actually more grey with a slight metallic finish. Footlocker is one of our preferred sports shops, I'll never forget going into a few stores in the US and being addressed as 'Boss'. That's right.

Cabot Circus: Summer Food Festival

Monday 22 August 2016

A few weeks back I attended the 'Summer of Food Festival' blogger Safari Supper Club dinner at Cabot Circus, where I was invited to enjoy a different course at three different restaurants, along with four other Bristol bloggers! Never one to turn down a free meal, I made my way to the Bristol shopping centre for good food, friendship and cocktails.

My Boho Wedding: The Great Tythe Barn, Cotswolds

Thursday 18 August 2016

We got married on 16th May 2016 at The Great Tythe Barn, in Tetbury. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I know it's a cliché but it really was the best day of my life. We wanted an African/English fusion wedding in the Cotswolds with a somewhat boho theme... Something relatively small (100 people ish) with all our absolute favourites.

The run up the wedding was pretty stressful as I didn't take any time off beforehand (something I don't recommend) but from the moment I woke up in the morning, I forgot all my worries and had a perfect day. The sun came out, the florists worked their magic on the barn and everything ran pretty much to plan. We had a few hiccups (the ceremony was slighty delayed as Sam's mum got stuck behind a tractor & some other minor issues) but it really didn't matter. We did it!

Workout Wednesday - Nike Free Rn Flyknit at Foot Locker #approved

Wednesday 10 August 2016

My gym game is coming on strong so it was with great delight that I welcomed some fab new running shoes into my sportswear stable, the Nike Free Rn Flyknit from Foot Locker (£109.99). I chose this style purely for their technical spec, something this crazy colourway fan is quite proud of, but I LOVE them. I'm quite surprised at how fond of them I actually am, because they look totally basic with no look at me patterns or cool sole deets, but they are an absolute dream to wear and work out in.

The integrated flywire cabled lacing is super supportive and the low profile cushioned sole with rounded heel encourages a natural footstrike, whilst the knitted auxetic tri-star outsole adjusts to the movement in your feet. It's really bizarre to watch but the only way I can describe it is to say that your feet look like caterpillars on the go, flexing and stretching with every step. It's kind of hypnotic to watch, so probably best to avert your eyes whilst on a treadmill . . .

They're also ridiculously light that it feels like you're walking in soft slippers, so you feel like you're just skipping along which is amusing for the first 10 mins until you get used to them. The idea is to wear them without socks but I just can't do that soz, plus I like the extra cushioned feeling of sports liners. Compared to my old New Balance gym trainers, the Nike Free Rn Flyknit's are a million times better *side eyes old kicks*.

Overall I'm really pleased with my upgrade. It's important to switch up your gymwear as you progress and your shoes should probably be your biggest investment. Make sure you read reviews and the tech specs before making a final decision. The Nike Free Rn Flyknit are primarily designed as a running shoe, which is perfect for me as a treadmill fan, but they will also serve me in HIIT workouts (lightweight but good stability provided) and Spin (lace support system, ventilation and weight will all help here).

In other news, it's now just 4 weeks until our wedding day! I can't believe it's come round so quickly, time to take it up a notch in these trainers I think ;)

Tangle Teezer Blow Styling Smoothing Tool

Monday 8 August 2016

In some form of another, a Tangle Teezer has become a staple on most of our dressing tables over the last few years. I myself have a faithful Compact Styler that I use every day wet or dry, and I've often wished it was bigger so I could use it to blow-dry my very long and thick hair in place of a round brush. Welllllll, turns out I wasn't the only one having that thought because Tangle Teezer added an actual blow-styling brush to their range! Well I'll be.

The Tangle Teezer Blow Styling Smoothing Tool will set you back £20 and promises to leave your hair voluminous, shiny and frizz free. The fixed base teeth are designed to quickly dry hair to a smooth finish without tugging, with no need to direct the dryer nozzle right onto the hair which can be damaging.

So does it work? Yessssssss, I do like using it to detangle wet hair as it glides through with minimal breakage, and it definitely dries my Rapunzel like locks much quicker than my normal thermal barrel, but I do have a teeny niggle, and it may just be me or my super powerful ghd dryer, but I find that the handle gets very hot mid blow. I don't know, it just gets to a point two thirds into my drying time where I think erk, hot hand alert! If you have one of these I'd love to hear if this is a shared problem or if it's just my technique, because I do enjoy using this brush but yeah, ouch.

It is available in half size (£18) for short to medium length hair, and the full size as shown here. I'd like to see a round brush in the range as I do have trouble blowing my fringe with a paddle shape like this, but overall this is a good addition to the beloved TT range and it's nice to see the science being applied to new products.

In other news, it's just 4 weeks to the wedding (you may have spied my 'Future Mrs' headband from my Bristol mini-hen meet up with Tbuggles in the pics) and we're starting to wave goodbye to all out hard earned savings as the invoices start to roll in - HALP!

Cambridge Satchel Company: The Mini Satchel

Wednesday 3 August 2016

Confession time. I have quite a few bags. I may have a large drawer which is full of them, but I tend to use the same one or two every week. Typical, right? Within my handbag collection, I have a selection of satchels, the cutest being this Mini Satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company.
