Two weeks ago I took the short 12 minute train journey from Bristol to Bath. I always love visiting Bath, it's so charming, as soon as I set foot off the train from Bristol I feel as if I'm stepping into a Jane Austen novel.
After navigating Bath's cobbled streets (and after a *quick* detour to the South Gate shopping area), I soon arrived at the Grade II listed Harington's Hotel for an exciting blogger event. Although Bath is really close to Bristol, I have stayed overnight a few times but never in a boutique hotel like Harington's. Located on Queen's Street, it's right in the centre of historic Bath.
I revel in any chance to hang out with my favourite blogger babes, so it was fun to catch up with some South West blogettes while we sipped on fizz (Bucks, in my case)! We were greeted by the lovely Amy of Exposure Ninja who told us the plan for the day while we ate delicious nibbles including the best chocolates I've ever tasted from Charlotte Brunswick. Oh my! These premium handmade chocolates are something else, this two layer box costs £60 so they aren't your average box of choccies, but I would like nothing more than to eat these the morning after my wedding. Sam, friends... take note.
Amie of Credit Crunch Chic & I then had a chance to speak with Peter, the owner of Harington's Hotel before heading on a hotel tour. He's such a nice guy. His passion is contagious, he clearly loves his job and is extremely focused on ensuring his guests have the best stay possible. He told us they have a lot of repeat custom & are often fully booked which isn't surprising.
During the hotel tour, we learnt that each room was decorated by Peter's wife to an extremely high standard. I absolutely loved the decor in the rooms! So much thought and effort is put into the interior design of all 13 bedrooms. Every room is unique and his its own quirky features, which is such a nice change from the bog standard hotels where every room is carbon copy of the other.
After looking around the hotel itself, we then headed across the street to check out the apartments - which are HUGE. I personally love staying in apartments when I visit different cities, so I was beyond impressed. They are also hella affordable! If anyone is looking for hen party accommodation or is planning a big trip with friends to Bath, look no further than Harington's. We all got pretty excited about the apartments and started daydreaming about a potential blogger sleepover like so many London bloggers have. Can you imagine the shenanigans, live tweeting and constant outfit taking!? If only...
After the grand tour was over, we were given the option of jumping in the outdoor hot tub or heading to a pop-up Lush Spa for hand massages. I opted for the latter to learn a bit more about the new Lush Spa in Bath. My lovely Lushette was Megan of The Briar Rose. She adores her job and provided so much information about the Spa & treatments that she had me sold within minutes - I definitely want to make an appointment. We also got to try out some of Lush's awesome massage bars. Megan used the 'Strawberry Feels Forever' bar on me which smells incredible.
A word of warning if you have sensitive skin - avoid this! It's such a shame but the very next day the eczema on my hands (which I only get occasionally) had majorly flared up! SOB. Hoever, I'd still recommend this if you have normal skin because it really is a great product.
The team talked us through the story behind the Lush Bath Spa (which is under the shop) and also showed us the Valentine's Day range. The Valentine's bath bomb 'Lover Lamp' is absolutely everything. My new favourite product by far!
After recovering from our Lush treatments (I wanted to stay in that room forever), we were treated to afternoon tea. It's basically impossible to visit Bath without having afternoon tea. Peter then gave a short speech about the hotel, which just made me love it even more. They have such a great company ethos. I genuinely want to stay here and would recommend it to everyone!
Thank you to Harington's Hotel for such a wonderful day! I hope to pop by for a proper overnight visit soon. Have you ever been to Bath? Do you prefer independent hotels to large chains?
T - Planning my next trip.
