Wine. Can I get a helllllll yeah up in hurrrr?! It's pretty much all I think about on a Friday tbh, and even more so now that I have a wedding to plan. Do you go with the idea that everybody generally likes white, and that we're eating chicken? Or do you make personal enquiries as to what your guests really like a tipple of? What's considered 'nice' and can I even tell the difference between a Pinot and a Chardonnay anyway?! Arghhhhhhh! Anyhoo, the nice peeps at I Heart Wines offered to help me out with a much appreciated sample box of 1 glass bottles from their core range - chin chin!
Basically, as soon as I saw these little guys, with their loveheart labels and colour coding, my mind went straight to thinking about how amazing a selection would look on a table at the reception entrance? At £1.90 a 187ml pop it's an affordable way to give the guests their first drink on you on arrival - genius! Orrrrrrr, you could fill an ornate drinks trolley with them at the wedding breakfast and wheel them around like a dessert cart? The wine list at my venue is rocking a £13 starter bottle of house white/red which obvs pours about 4 glasses, so switching them out with this I Heart Wines mini range would not only be cheaper, but also offers everyone something more to their taste? Definitely something to consider if your venue allows you to cater yourself ;)
So how did my tasting sesh go? I generally take my wine like I take my tea - any old way I can get it! I'm not massively fussy and I'm not the most educated in varieties, but I do know what I like and that's all you need right?! I Heart Wines makes it easy to choose a nice bottle without being baffled by the regions, aroma, taste, price etc because they do all that for you, simply presenting us with the best option they can for that variety - ta daaaa! I sampled 6 of I Heart Wines' varieties; I Heart Merlot, I Heart Chardonnay, I Heart Zinfandel Rose, I Heart Shiraz, I Heart Pinot Grigio and I Heart Sauvignon Blanc, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every single one! Okay okay, there were a few standouts if you're forcing me to choose . . .
My absolute fave was the Sauvignon Blanc, which was so refreshingly light and fruity. I can imagine this going down well at the wedding breakfast when we're all on top of the world - yum! I was also very keen on the Shiraz which was lovely and dark with a warm rich taste, easily on par with my usual fave red and a third cheaper on the RRP for the full 75cl! But in all seriousness, they were all beaut. Do not make the mistake of thinking these are gimmicky wines just because there is a heart on the label and they are reasonably priced, this is good stuff, you only have to read other independent reviews on the internet!
I would definitely seek out the I Heart Wines range at my local supermarket for my weekend wind downs, and I absolutely adore the idea of having the mini bottles at my wedding, they'd really add to the fun atmosphere that I'm hoping to achieve. Maybe I'll even throw a few drinking straws in there for extra giggles. So next time you're buying a bottle, don't just go awww at the hearts and pretty colours (this is me pointing at elephants and pink labels usually) but walk on by, pick it up to try and BUY!

My mums a huge win fan ;-) me however, not so much! In all honesty I don't actually drink much tbh maybe now and again for events/special occasions such as parties or birthdays, but I do have my favourite drinks of choice and do like the mulled or rose wines as they're more light and fruiter... :) maybe in time I will grow to like the taste and get experimenting more with different flavours, the packaging of these are super cute however and perfect as gift xx
