Rawrgirls Review . . . Melvita Prosun Self Tanning Gel Cream!

Saturday 14 September 2013

For years I have suffered with an allergy to the DHA ingredients used in self tanning products, within hours of applying any product I start to itch like crazy and have been known to draw blood and comfort my poor legs with a cold flannel! So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that Melvita Prosun Self Tanning Gel Cream (£22) is DHA free! This product uses Erythrulose instead, an innovative, plant based bronzing agent derived from cane sugar which gives a gradual even tan!

As soon as it dropped through the door I was all over it, dying to see if it worked! The gel cream itself is a lovely smooth, silky texture and was absorbed into my skin like a body lotion. It smells like vanilla and cocoa butter - YUM. Word of warning though, you don't need a lot at all to get good coverage, as I discovered one overloaded arm later! Once applied, I went to bed, eager to wake up the next morning. Would I be itchy? What colour would I be?! WELL, I'm very pleased to say that thanks to the DHA free formula, I am now irritation free and a rather pleasant sunkissed gold colour! The colour isn't as dark on first application as other gradual tanners I've tried, but this is a-okay with me because the sheer comfort and relief of it far outweighs the task of a second application!

Overall, two big thumbs up, fine holiday fun! If you suffer with a DHA allergy and thought you were destined for a life of sunbeds (the horror!) vs that itch you just can't scratch enough (GAH!) then you need to try this. It's quite simply, a revelation.

J - I'm FREEEEEE!!!
