One of Brazil's fave flip flop brands, Ipanema, reps the spirit and look of Rio's famous beach spot to the max. The locally produced brand is the ethical choice for flip flop lovers. Ipanema products don't use rubber from the Amazon rainforest, are made from 100% recyclable PVC and are created using mould injection technology resulting in minimal waste to the environment. You can also be sure that Ipanema employees are looked after too, with local factories participating in social inclusion projects for people with special needs, adhering to employment laws regarding minimum age and wages and employees health and education benefits.
Ipanema sent me a pair of their super popular Ipanema Tropical Women's Flip Flop (£14) in silver, to try for myself, and I'm hooked! The anatomic footbed is ridiculously comfortable. I've had other well known Brazilian flip flop brands before but they felt nothing like this, it's like you don't even have shoes on! They're so flexible that I can fold them in half in my hand so no wonder my feet feel like they are free walking, plus the rubber on the toe piece is super soft and I have not experienced any pesky rubbing at all - hurrah!
I love the shimmery metallic sheen on this style. The pattern on the footbed is taken from the patterned Calçadão tiles on Ipanema Beach which is a cool touch!

I haven't worn flip flops this comfortable in my life. Since I got them I've been wearing them with jeans and dresses, and even around the house as summer slippers! I can't recommend them enough and I'll be buying more for sure. Even my boyfriend is taken with them after seeing how much I love them, and luckily Ipanema do a men's range too ;)
Prices start at £14 for women, and to be honest, I'd pay more. Ipanema have also teamed up with supermodel Gisele on a new range of beach to bar ready sandals, prices start at £22 for those and they're beaut!
Happy August everyone!
J - The girl from Ipanema . . . I wish!
I like that they have a lil wedge going on!

Yeah me too! They actually do more wedgey ones but I like the little lift on the standard ones :)
DeleteI can't walk in flip flops haha but my mum has a pair of these and swears by them! Says they're the best ever x
