Summer Event Handbag Essentials with 1951 Maison Francaise and The Dressing Room! #DRPartyBag

Thursday 5 June 2014

A few weeks ago we were both sent a beautiful 1951 Maison Francaise bag from The Dressing Room, and challenged to fill it with our Summer event handbag essentials! I decided to work it around my must haves for sunshine soaked blogger events, meet ups and parties!

  • Phone - It's a no brainer really isn't it? The problem these days is that phones are getting bigger and clutch bags are getting smaller! Luckily this 1951 Maison Francaise zebra number is Goldilocks - just right!
  • Mirror - Because you never know what what your eye make-up, hair or fake tan is up to on a hot day, and there are A LOT of people with cameras!
  • Teeny hair brush and big snap clips - I have a very temperamental fringe, so this is a must have for when I need to dampen it and blow it under a hand dryer in the ladies. Also, if it's hot outside, you can guarantee that it will be even hotter inside and I just find that clips create something a bit cuter than a bobble.
  • Rollerball perfume - I have loads of scents in this format but Katy Perry's Purr is always a winner because it endures.
  • Maybelline Baby Lips - I find that I get bored of reapplying lippy or gloss, especially if there's a lot of talking, drinking and food involved, so a tinted lipbalm is perfect.
  • Plasters - The rules of being a girl are simple and finite, never leave home in heels or new shoes without plasters in your bag.
  • Business cards - I don't introduce myself with a card like some do, but if someone seems interested during a chat, or I plan to do a post on the event at some point, it's definitely handy to have a card to pass on to new blogger friends or PR peeps :)

My party/evening looks don't tend to change with the seasons so I'd probably style it with a simple shift or drop waist style dress in black or a clashing leopard print, accessorising with some killer heels and a few pieces of statement jewellery. I love how it has a lightweight detachable shoulder chain too, so versatile.

Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Cuff - New Look, Necklace - New Look.

I do love this clutch, it feels so luxurious and you can't go wrong with a bit of animal print. A classic shape in a classic print that will last for years to come, a fab investment buy.

  4. I just love the clutch and the shape is very classic as you mentioned!! I actually just received one similar in grey with a faux leather type fabric and they make great for everyday and evening use!! I always carry my phone, diary, purse, mirror, make-up and business cards :) basically everything you would need on a daily basis!! I never had much use for my business cards but managed to part with one yesterday at my local hairdressers as she was interested to see what I blog about but maybe they will come in useful for the Company Blog Awards and blog giveaways as we don't get much blog meet ups in Scotland :( xx

  5. The contents of your 1951 Maison Francaise bag look vert carefully chosen, neat, extremely useful and new. Those spiked toe shoes take my breath away a little. I think I'd be likely to behave myself around someone wearing those.
