Bershka Yellow Faux Fur Jacket

Thursday, 9 November 2017

Big Bird from Sesame Street was my inspiration for this outfit. Jade found this coat for me on ASOS and I was instantly smitten - that girl knows me so well. I've wanted a yellow faux fur coat for a few months and this one by Bershka is the perfect specimen. It's fluffy, warm and slightly ridiculous... Basically, right up my street!

I have a *couple* of faux fur jackets already but none as bold and bright as this beaut. I feel like Big Bird, a baby chick, a duckling and the honey puff monster all rolled into one.

Shovava Boho Owl Scarf

A bit like Pinterest, I find it easy to unintentionally lose hours of my life to Etsy. Last year (or maybe before that), I came across Australian brand Shovava on the site and immediately added it to my favourite shops. I must've ranted about it for months as on Christmas Day last year, I unwrapped a present from Sam only to find this beautiful owl scarf... Proof he does pay attention to me!

I absolutely love owls, they are such magical creatures and when I get close to them in real life, I immediately experience warm and fuzzies. Jade even bought me an owl Olivia Burton watch for my birthday last year because she knows how much I adore them. Thanks babe.

DuoBoots: Joiners Leather Riding Boots

Ah, Autumn. Last Sunday was surprisingly warm, so I stepped out wearing a just a light blazer and still felt overdressed. I'm not complaining because I've changed my mind and I don't think I'm 100% ready to embrace the rain and cold, just yet.

I've been meaning to feature this blazer on the blog for a few months after buying it from the The Bloggers Market in London earlier this year (thank you Kristabel). It was the perfect piece to style with my brand new black Joiners riding boots from DuoBoots. Aren't they awesome!? If you read my post earlier this week, you'll know that I recently attended their relaunch blog event in Bath and went home with these beauties from their AW17 collection.

Bristol Street Style: Dr. Martens

Happy hump day! Today I'm back with another Bristol street style post. I prefer taking outfit posts when I'm out and about rather than indoors, but unfortunately the weather doesn't always play ball. Thankfully, the rain held off long enough to grab some quick shots by the harbourside. As mentioned previously, I was pretty much spoilt at Christmas and on my Birthday, so I have lots of new items to feature.

This ridiculously soft coat is another Unreal Fur beauty, gifted to me by a favourite. The Milky Way Coat has a gorgeous grey & black shaved effect. I really like the textured look and how good it feels on - it's even softer than my others! I'm wearing the XS but it definitely fits more like a small. Unreal Fur is *possibly* my third favourite brand of all time. If you're interested, you can find out more about the designer in one of our old posts.

Autumn/Winter Style: Zara Lace Midi

So, I don't know about you guys but I have shopped non-stop for the past 2 weeks. The sales have been amazing, and I was given lots of gift cards and some cash for Christmas/my birthday. People think having a birthday in January must be awful but it really isn't... I get the best presents! I was well and truly spoilt this year and scooped up some fantastic pieces during further reductions.

After complaining my local Zara store's sale was weak, I managed to score this black lace midi dress for just £13. What a bargain.

AW16 Trend Watch: The Military Jacket

Monday, 21 November 2016

One of the autumn/winter trends I'm most into this year is military inspired outerwear. The London catwalks were giving off huge military vibes at the beginning of the year, with capes and wool double-breasted jackets from Mulberry, to oversized military bomber jackets from Topshop. As fashion comes in cycles, I remember loving this trend the first time around... I wanted nothing more than a red military (or band) jacket. Sadly the perfect one sold out (and I often still search for it on eBay), but when I spotted this navy version from Joanna Hope at JD Williams, I knew this was my second chance at embracing this trend.

JD Williams wasn't a brand I was previously familiar with, I think initially they were targeting an older audience, however they have so many stylish, on trend pieces - they are clearly now trying to encourage a younger customer. They have an array of sequin numbers - ideal for party season - and an epic outerwear range

Military Style Jacket Review

Jacket: Joanna Hope via JD Williams (c/o) - Dress: New Look - Tights: Wolford

This jacket is extremely versatile. It looks great with a basic tee, jeans and boots but at the weekend I wore it with a velour dress, black courts and statement Wolford tights (as seen on Katy Perry in her Killer Queen perfume imagery). I'm wearing the size 10 which still has room for layering. I've seen so many similar jackets on the high street but none of them compare to this one. The embroidery makes it that much more special, it's of higher quality and has a designer feel to it. If you're considering buying a jacket like this yourself, I recommend avoiding the mass produced versions you might find if you spend a bit less, because it's all about cost per wear. Am I right!?

I'm now looking for a longer military coat to keep me warm in the colder months ahead. Ideally it'll be khaki green, made from wool with loads of buttons. If you see anything, please let me know!

What's your favourite trend this season? Would you wear a military jacket?

Menswear Monday - Cosying Up And Braving The Cold With Jacamo AW16

Monday, 31 October 2016

My man Tim is the star of our Menswear Monday feature today, trying out a couple of pieces from Jacamo to add to his autumn/winter wardrobe. Jacamo was previously mostly known as a store for big n' tall guys, and while it still caters up to size 5XL, it does actually start at size S, so there really is something for everyone.

Now Tim isn't a small bloke by any means and usually takes a Large in most tops, but sometimes a size L in certain brands feels a little too slim fitting for his liking (it's not just us girls that feel like clothing manufacturers are scrimping on the material these days!) so we thought we'd take full advantage of Jacamo's famous sizing range and order a couple of styles in XL to see how they compared. Well, we can report that Jacamo definitely does not scrimp on material! If anything, these XL styles run a little bigger than Tim is used to, but maybe that says more about other brands than it does about Jacamo - mmhmm! Regardless, that extra inch or so just adds to the comfort and as both items could easily be worn with something else underneath then party on, fine holiday fun.

The first style was from the Jacamo men's jumpers selection, the Southbay Navy Fairisle Sweater is £25, runs up to 4XL and is and a nice take on the classic winter pattern. The material is not itchy (super important!) and while it is generously cut in the body, it fits really well in the shoulders and arms so you can forgive it for giving you a little extra room for food, perfect for Christmas dinner!

The second style we picked was from the Jacamo men's Hoodies was the Adidas Zone Hoodie, not cheap at £70 but definitely something Tim would wear forever and we are big believers in pounds per wear in this house! This style runs up to 3XL and Tim is wearing the XL. He could easily have sized down to L as the XL is pretty roomy, but this is primarily an outdoor piece, potentially to be used for hiking or running, so there's plenty of room here for layers. Tim loves the style of the high neck scarf like neckline, and the thumbholes in the cuffs which he looks for on pretty much every sporty bit of kit. He's really pleased with this one and I think I'll see this on him a lot!

I don't think we'll just be walking past our local Jacamo stores anymore, it's definitely worth a look even if you're not what you might assume to be the ' typical Jacamo customer' because we think you'll find things have changed a bit! I was really surprised at the amount of brands that they stock too, including Adidas, French Connection, Original Penguin, Lacoste and Timberland, all with extended size ranges to what you might find in other stockists. It's also really handy to know about stores like Jacamo at this time of year when your sizing options can get very limited in the gift buying craziness. Try Jacamo peeps, it's not just for 7 foot guys with size 15 feet, it's for everyone!

Ilex London: Luxury Leather Bags

Wednesday, 2 December 2015

I wore this outfit when I went to get my hair cut at the weekend, it's just one of those everyday casual looks which I feel most comfortable in. I'll be writing about the salon I got my hair cut later on in the week but gosh am I in love with my new 'do'! I can't wait to grow it a little longer so it'll be perfect for the wedding.

Today's ensemble features an awesome across the body bag from boutique brand, Ilex London. Their bags are designed inhouse, made with the highest quality leather and are quintessentially English. They have a wide collection of timeless pieces suitable for all seasons and occasions, but I love this simple design.
