Bristol Street Style: Polka Dot Maxi Skirt

Monday 1 April 2019

Oh beautiful Spring sunshine, you are everything to me! Bristol is always prettier when the sun makes an appearance and I'm always happier when I have my legs out. Fact. I do love my denim skinnies but skirts and dresses are approximately eight times more comfortable. I've been holding onto this little polka dot number for about a month now, and I finally got to wear it last week! Hurrah!

So where have I been? Well, earlier this week I posted an article about the dreamiest trip Sam & I took to the Algarve in Portugal. It was our first time visiting the country which is a bit scandalous considering Sam is part Portuguese (sort of). I wore lots of cute dresses during our time there but since then, my spring/summer wardrobe has been waiting for the temperature to rise in the UK.

It's no secret, travel is my passion and we have plenty of trips planned for the year (just don't tell Sam). Next up, Lisbon in a few weeks time! I'm hoping to soak up the sun and get my pins out again while stuffing my face with pastries. Standard T. I also have a few other posts in drafts so expect an article on Slovenia shortly.

Now the weather has improved I'm hoping to get back into sharing outfit posts again. These will include old pieces (re-styled) and sharing a handful of new ones (new to the blog at least). Since my last style post in January, I've been trying to buy second hand as much as possible to reduce my fashion footprint. This skirt was new but I'm planning to wear it for many years to come - it's such a classic piece.  I'm buying less and choosing more wisely.

Just a word of advice, if you're in-between sizes and buy a maxi skirt like this one, make sure it fits snug on the waist. I spent 70% of my time on Tuesday swivelling the buttons to the front again as it kept twisting and poking out my stomach so I didn't expose my belly button. Just another reason to eat all the pastries in Lisbon, I suppose.

In life news, it turns out I have four layers of eyelashes. I went for a long overdue eye test and the optometrist revealed this little nugget to me. Brilliant. I've also been listening to lots of great podcasts recently. My current favourites include Uncover by CBC (both seasons 1 & 2), The Food Medic and as always, Martinis & MurderDoes anyone have any recommendations?

If so, send them my way! - T
