Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Perfume Review

Monday 20 March 2017

With Mother's Day fast approaching, I've been racking my brains for gifts to buy my mum! I decided to book afternoon tea at The Bristol Hotel but I also want her to have a present to open on the day. Her favourite things consist of family, travel, jewellery, skincare and perfume, and her #1 place in the world is Paris.

We visited Paris together a few years ago and she spent 80% of the time saying, "OMGosh, this is amazing!!". Ha. Perfume can be a tricky present to give as it's such a personal thing, however, knowing how much she loves Paris and the fact we like similar scents, I'm pretty confident the Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris perfume is the gift I've been looking for.

YSL Mon Paris Perfume Review

YSL Mon Paris Eau de Parfum

YSL Mon Paris Eau de Parfum: Debenhams (c/o)

The packaging is very sophisticated and I really like the lilac box which has the classic YSL logo and a splash of gold. If I received this as a gift, I'd definitely be impressed once I'd ripped the wrapping paper off. The bottle itself has a lovely black bow with a small gold YSL label and it's the kind of bottle that would look at home on my french boudoir-esque dressing table. The pale pink liquid is feminine and instantly makes me think of spring! Full marks for presentation, Yves Saint Laurent.

The scent itself is light and fruity - my favourite combination. The fragrance's top notes include strawberry, raspberry and orange, with heart notes of peony and jasmine, combined with base notes of moss and vanilla. As the scent is quite light, I'd say it's perfect for everyday wear but would equally be suitable when worn as an evening scent. I can imagine wearing this at my friend's wedding later this year... I think I'm going to have to treat myself to this fragrance!

This is the 50ml bottle which is the perfect gifting size. I don't tend to buy 100ml bottles when I'm buying eau de parfum for others because I can never be 100% sure the recipient will fall head over heels for it.

I believe you don't need to buy gifts to express your love. For instance, when it comes to my birthday, I'd prefer to receive something handmade or enjoy an experience with a loved one. With that being said, a well thought-out present, such as perfume, can evoke happy emotions and memories. I know that when my mum wears this scent, she'll remember that incredible time we had in Paris.

You can view Debenhams' full range of perfumes, including this one, on their website.

Have you tried YSL perfume before? What's your favourite fragrance? - T
