For me, one of the best things about autumn/winter is the outerwear (hello faux fur!) and cosy footwear. I love oversized fluffy coats - the bigger, the better - and I also adore leather boots. As I've got older, I've definitely started to invest in higher quality garments over fast fashion. I must admit I do still like a fast fashion binge every now and again but more often than not, I'll opt for a more expensive item if I know it'll last longer.
The fluffy jacket pictured below is by Australian brand Unreal Fur, who Jade and I interviewed a few years ago. I adore their ethos and their pieces are so beautiful and soft... Well worth the investment. I hardly ever buy faux leather footwear (unless I'm wearing trainers), I tend to opt for a designer boot in the colder months or a style from my favourite fairytale fitters, Ted & Muffy.
Jacket: Unreal Fur - Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs - Standpoint boots: Ted & Muffy (c/o)
Ted & Muffy believe footwear should fit *just right*. They have a range of classic designs with the occasional modern twist. Last year I fell in love with these epic over the knee lace ups which still bring me so much joy when I wear them. I also had a pair of their mid calf boots a few years ago which I wore almost every day last winter. The great thing about Ted & Muffy is they aren't style over substance... Every shoe is well made and in my experience, lasts for years. Comfort level? One short of slippers.
My new favourites are the Standpoint boots, a shearling lined, pull-on style. I read the online reviews and as I'm a half size, sized up to be safe... which turned out to be the right decision. Huzzah! What I like most about the Standpoint's is that you can wear them tall or fold them down to create a shorter boot. I love having options and wore them folded over with my jeans. You also select your calf size when you buy them so they fit perfectly. Those fairtytale fitters want to get it right every time.
T&M have a very loyal following and their customer service is incredible, if you visit in-store, the sales assistants are super knowledgeable and attentive. To me, they are the LUSH of the footwear world - once you realise how awesome they are, you want to keep going back again and again.
The next pair I have my eye on? The *swoon-worthy* leopard Chelsea boots. I think the designers love leopard print as much as Jade & I, because it seems to feature heavily in every collection. Go Ted & Muffy (who are real people, by the way)!Do you invest in footwear? How would you style these boots?
T - Keeping warm this season.
