Anyhoo, back to Scary vs Chic. I took Scary, being au fait with an eyeliner and partial to pvc, and picked out the Black Basic Witches Short Sleeve T-shirt (£7.99) and the Black Patent A-Line Skirt (£19.99), to channel my favourite witches from The Craft and American Horror Story - Coven! A lot of eyeshadow and Posh Spice/Wanda Maximoff finger wiggling later, and we have a pretty decent Halloween party look! It would also look really cute with a white shirt under the tee and some over the knee socks and heels, if you really wanted to go full Neve Campbell post superspell makeover.

Wowza, doesn't J look amazing!? So of course, I opted for Chic! I've never been one to dress up for Halloween, so I like that New Look are suggesting style lovers create an outfit using pieces which can be reworked and worn again and again! I love velvet for A/W and as the shape of this Black Velvet Swing Dress (£19.99) is hella flattering, it's an obvious choice for me.
I wanted to create a bit of a costume, so styled it with this Black Fright Night Ticket Coin Purse (£3.99) and Black Halloween Lace Mask (£4.99). To make the whole look a bit more interesting, I decided to throw in a pirate element (which totally makes sense) - these lace up boots from Ted & Muffy. Ahoooooooy!

I know I'm going to get a lot of wear out of this dress throughout the colder months and now I'm really tempted to buy it in burgundy... I just wish it came in green and royal blue too! As it's such a versatile dress, it also looks cute with thick tights - making it perfect for everyday wear.
So what are your plans for Halloween? Are you Team Scary or Team Chic!? - J & T.
