The pack comes with a pre-treatment cream, two part sachet mix, spatula, bowl and instructions. As you can see, it's a pretty big deal!
You have to apply the Revitalising Cream first to cleansed skin and massage in. The active ingredients offer better absorption so the mask works better on the skin, so it's an essential step. While it was settling I took the opportunity to read the instructions thoroughly because I didn't want to mess it up!
First off, the mix. Step 1 is a powder made up of 24 carat gold dust (and you can see it!) and a combination of highly penetrative ingredients which gives the mask revitalising and firming properties. Then you add Step 2, the gel which binds it all together to create your emulsion. And boy does it bind, as soon as the gel hits the dust it starts to set so you have to really go at it with the spatula to whip it up fast!
Once whipped it looks like glittery gold cool goo, and has no real scent, though it reminds me a bit of aloe vera. You have to apply it pretty fast before it goes solid, and spreading it onto your skin isn't the easiest thing in the world but I once I realised that it was easier to manipulate it if it was applied abundantly then it became easier. I've read other reviews that say that there is enough product in the pack for two people, and whilst this may be true I think that you'd be scrimping on the application and therefore not getting the full benefit of the mask, so personally, I wouldn't recommend sharing! You can apply the mask over closed eyes and lips, but I wasn't brave enough to try that! Check out my look. This is how it sets, like you have a melting face, which is obviously hilarious so make sure you take full advantage of photo opps for social media.
The sensation when it's on is really pleasant, just really cool and calming. Casmara advise that you lie down and relax, but as it sets so fast there's no need to worry about it dripping off if you stand upright. 15 minutes later it started to 'pop' on my skin and peel away at the edges, so I began to pull it off . . .
It comes off completely in one piece which is too much fun, and you end up with a horror pancake version of your own face at the end of it all, but more importantly, how does my skin feel?!
I'm not sure how long this feeling will last, and at a tenner it's not cheap, but this is probably the best facemask I've ever used so I would 100% be willing to head to Boots and nab myself a few others from the same range; Hydra, Purifying and Balancing. Fine holiday fun, two thumbs up!

ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun Carly! I'm always sceptical over masks because I find them a bit faddy but this was amazing. Even this morning my skin looks even better than yesterday, it's well worth the tenner :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I have never seen the facial mask like that before! You mean you can peel all in one out!?!? Very interesting! xx
