Olivia Burton Moulded Bee Black and Gold Watch

Wednesday 22 April 2015

My most prized possessions are jewellery pieces which hold sentimental value. I don't own many high value items but even if I did, I wouldn't wear them as often as my favourite, cheaper items. The ones I'm emotionally attachment to.

I was recently asked, 'Which item would you save from a fire?' -This is a tricky question for most people. I'd be devastated if I lost my photos but they are mostly digital and backed up. I love my wardrobe but if I lost it all, I could move on (and buy it again). My engagement ring is an obvious choice but as it's almost always on my finger, I wouldn't need to go out of my way to grab it in the event of a fire!

After thinking about it for all of 10 minutes, I decided if I had to pick one thing to save from a fire, it would be my beautiful Moulded Bee watch by Olivia Burton. I bought it shortly after my grandad passed, in loving memory of him. He would always comment on my OB watches and I initially hoped they'd make similar men's watches so I could buy him one! Sadly they didn't (he wouldn't have let me spend any money on him anyway) so every time I look at this one, I'm reminded of that dapper gent and his fondness of stylish timepieces.

I remember spotting this watch a few years ago after meeting one half of Olivia Burton! I'm really hoping a different moulded style will be released soon, when I met Jemma I asked if we could expect any more but she explained as it's such an intricate design, it wasn't likely...But I'm still crossing my paws for a hummingbird version with a pastel strap!

Legal & General have recently compiled a nifty list of tips to reduce the risk of fire in your home. After reading this, I'm definitely going to be more careful. I feel a bit naughty admitting I don't switch off at night or when I go on holiday...Whoops. Did any of these tips surprise you? Would would you save from a fire?

  1. But you could totally wear your watch too and then you wouldn't have to save that from the fire either? ;) It is rather beautiful though, so I can 100% see why you would save it! Lovely post and pictures, as always xxx

I'd save my portable hardrive (ALL my photos are on that bad boy!), the necklace my parents bought me for my 21st birthday and the wooden photo album box all my friends made me for my 18th birthday :) xx

  9. I love the story behind your watch Tara, which is beautiful by the way! I love bees on jewellery, I think they look so pretty. I would like to try and save my Mulberry bags in a fire but my family and Freddydog would be my number one priority! x

  13. That watch is lovely.
In a fire I'd probably save the jewellery my grandma left me, or a teddy bear that has been passed on from my oldest brother, through my siblings, and finally to me. It's 42 years old and has seen better days, but I still love it and it has pride of place on a shelf above my bed.

  14. Such a lovely post and I really like the fact you bought the OB watch in memory of your grandad! It's beautiful and I've yet to buy one of my own but love the classic design and you've definitely picked one of the nicest designs as I love the engraved bee. I normally leave plugs switched on at night too! especially the PC, TV and skybox as I don't think you switch these off as everything resets it's self but I'm not entirely sure about this ha,ha xx
