My Qantas Airport Style! What To Wear On A Long Haul Flight.

Monday 19 January 2015

A few weeks back I was challenged by Qantas to create a 'flight outfit' for a trip to Melbourne. They're hosting an exciting blogger competition and giving one blogger the chance to win a pair of tickets to Melbourne to see the new Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria!

20 bloggers were provided with a £30 ASOS voucher and asked to come up with an outfit to wear on a long haul flight. I'm lucky enough to be able to say I've been on quite a few flights in my time, I love flying and after all these years of exploring the globe, I like to think I've got my flight style down.

Stylish Airport Style
LK Bennett Rosamund Bag
Burgundy Wool Fedora
Waterfall Camel Trench
Celebrity Airport Style
Leopard Ankle Boots
Blouse: River Island - Trench Coat: Jovonnista at ASOS (c/o) - Jeans: Oasis - Necklace: Mi Moneda - Boots: Next - Bag: L.K. Bennett

Qantas is one of the nicest airlines in the world and I've absolutely loved flying with them in the past! If I were to win the trip to Australia, this is the outfit I'd wear. I've taken inspiration from my favourite celebrities who are always being papped at the airport.

I decided to opt for a loose wrap blouse which is perfect for a long flight, some leather look skinnies which can be easily wiped (I'm always spilling airport food) and a pair of statement ankle boots. I've kept my jewellery simple with a Mi Moneda necklace, watch and midi ring. My beautiful camel Jovonnista trench coat is lightweight and will easily fold up on arrival. I try to take the biggest hand luggage I can when I travel because my suitcase has been lost before, I fill it with a change of clothes, my makeup and all my valuables (including chargers)! This L.K. Bennett Rosamund bag is the perfect size for taking on a plane and still looks chic. Wouldn't you agree?

I also wear a hat every time I go somewhere hot, it's great for hiding hat hair and adds a touch of cool to any ensemble. My arrival look wouldn't be complete without some flip flops and sunglasses which I keep in my bag until I land on foreign soil. To me, the holiday starts on the plane! ;)

Follow The Style Rawr's board Rawr Airport Style on Pinterest.

I've made a Pinterest board of airport style inspiration to go along with my entry, including some looks from some of my fave celebs. If you check it out, please let me know which outfit is your favourite.

Would you wear this on a flight? What's your usual flight style?

  1. Those boots are amazing Tara, I never even think to look in Next! When it comes to long haul flights, I always opt for those hippy harem style trousers or anything extremely baggy because I get so uncomfortable. I always stick on a cap too! Abby xx

  2. I'm not the most glam of travellers - give me some nice jogging bottoms and a casual top and I'm ready! I've crossed 'walk through the airport like a hobo' off my list, next is 'to walk through like VB'!

  4. I hate flying, I get pretty bad travel sickness if I'm travelling for more than 90 minutes.
    I love that coat!
My travelling outfit would not look as nice as yours, haha. I go for flats, jeans, and baggy tops.

  12. You look so stylish - as always! I love everything about this look.

When I'm flying, I try to dress in layers in case the plane is hot/cold. I also try to wear shoes that slip on and off easily because it just makes everything so much easier when going through security!

  15. I NEVER look that stylish when I travel! I'm all converse and blankets. My hair always looks terrible after a long flight too, so I will definitley be taking a hat to hide it next time!
