A Good Dress On Good Friday!

Saturday 30 March 2013

A good basic dress shape that flatters your figure is hard to find, but I think I've cracked it. Desire Clothing recently asked us if we wanted to pick a piece each, so we decided on the same dress but in different colours to see how we each style it up differently! The dress we both agreed was perfect for the job was the Jersey Dip Hem Lace Detail Dress - £15, which is available in black, charcoal (my choice), light grey (T's choice to be revealed soon) and cream! It has a pretty black lace back but I was more interested in the empire line dip hem style which I thought would belt up a treat, and I think I was right . . .

Outfit: Dress - c/o Desire Clothing, Belt - L.A.M.B, Top - H&M, Jacket - New Look, Necklace - Wildfox Couture, Tights - ASOS, Boots - Jeffrey Campbell, Satchel - Bertie, Rings - c/o WAY Bristol, Bracelet - c/o WAY Bristol, Watch - L.A.M.B.

This L.A.M.B. belt is from the Spring 2006 collection and a most prized possession. I used to collect L.A.M.B. with a passion, but as with most infatuations my interest waned in the actual clothing, but I still adore my luxe bags and pieces like this belt because they're just so darn cool!

The ever faithful Bertie satchel and Jeffrey Campbell cat tapestry Lita's, plus jewellery from T's new fave store, WAY in Bristol, which I'm desperate to run around in some day! :)

My half of our Wildfox broken heart necklace, T got WILD because she was born that way.

I'm super keen on these over the knee look tights but I'm going to have to get myself the Pretty Polly ones STAT because these are from ASOS and I'm not overly impressed with the quality, they lose their shape pretty quickly and I can't be dealing with Nora Batty moments - gahh!

I really love the length and empire line shape of the dress and the way the simple jersey material falls, I also think it slims me down - winner winner chicken dinner! It would also be really easy to change it up with a different belt. It would look just as cute with a stretchy neon belt, denim jacket and wedge trainers in the summer so now I think I need it in Tara's light grey version too, though I'm 92% certain she will feel the same about my charcoal one!

Desire Clothing has some really nice bits in right now, I'm really loving on the Black Peplum Blazer - £18 from the New In's, it would be a pretty awesome cover up for a night out.

  5. I love your outfit! I was about to describe why I love your dress but you already did! (the empire waist, fabric and drape). I really love the look of your over-the-knee low-thigh high hosiery! Sorry to read that they weren't holding their shape long enough. I wear thigh-highs a lot and it seems unless they're brand new I find myself stopping to adjust and pull them up a lot I've thought of adding a suspender belt even tough they're supposed to be stay-ups. I love your "LAMB" belt buckle. That big denim jacket looks nice with your pretty dress.

    1. Thanks for the lovely comment! Yeah, I'm finding that unless you buy an actual hosiery brand then the quality is just poor. Lesson learnt I guess!
