Rawrgirls Review . . . Nailene French Tip Pen Kit!

Saturday 5 January 2013

So I've been absent for a while, due to illness really, but it's T's birthday weekend so I'm back to step it up while she has a good time! I'm easing back into blogging with a nice little review on something I've been waiting to try for a while :)

I've always had a soft spot for a french mani, there's something so feminine about those white tips! So this Nailene French Tip Pen Kit (just under £10 from Boots) caught my eye and I had to try it because my nails have just reached the perfect French mani length for the first time in AGES, like I've seriously been waiting about 2 months to try this! You get a base/top coat, pale pink colour, white tip pen and tip guides, so it's good value for money.

The pen is obviously the selling point here (who didn't love tippex-ing their nails as a kid?!) and I think with a bit of practice it could be very easy to wield with great results! Here are a couple of pics showing my first try. This literally took me about 5 minutes each hand and consists of 1 coat of base, 1 coat of pink, white pen tips, another coat of pink and a top coat. Each polish, including the pen, has a really nice consistency.  I don't have the steadiest of moves and I was using short vertical strokes with the pen rather than one quick horizontal one and you can see the slightly uneven edge from that method, but I think it still looks pretty good for a first go?!

Overall I'm really keen on this kit, and I actually don't think I've ever been disappointed by any Nailene product yet. I'm going to keep practicing and hopefully my lines will get smoother with time too! What do you think? Are you into the french manicure look?
