Liverpool Fashion Week Opening Night with BooHoo.com!

Friday 19 October 2012

Liverpool Fashion Week has finally arrived, and I was lucky enough to be invited to attend Monday's opening night event with BooHoo.com!

It was a glamourous night in Leo Casino by the city's famous docks, hosted by Sinitta and featuring several catwalk shows by exciting stores and designers. The BooHoo.com fashion show was the highlight of the night for me, the stylists did an amazing job putting some gorgeous outfits together and I thought a runway show would be the perfect opportunity to use the Burst - Best Photo feature on my Samsung Galaxy SIII phone, which has become my blog photography tool of choice since I got it via the Samsung Mob!ler project. Burst - Best Photo basically takes a quick series of shots out of which the phone will then indicate which is the best one for you.

Shots of moving models has never been my strong point, especially when I'm not at the end of the catwalk vantage point but I think my phone did a decent job even if the colours are a bit dull (but the light was fairly atmospheric to be fair), and I guess it's only as good as the girl pressing the button so I definitely need to practice a bit more, but check out the pick of the bunch, popped into a few grids for your viewing pleasure ;)

Sequins and metallics were at the forefront for the party season, with the highlight being the stunning Saoirse Sequin Jacket, £45. It really was breathtaking on the model, and the purple colour was so pretty in the light!
BooHoo.com demonstrates versatility for all our party needs, covering trends from studs and leather, animal print and fur to LBD's. I loved this red leopard print Gabriella blouse, just £18.

After the runway show I had time to look over some of the collection in the BooHoo.com stand, where I met blogger friend Gemma Satire and her lovely friend, so we took the opp to have a bit of fun picking out some fun pieces for live instagram pics! The stand was full of gorgeous pieces from 4 of BooHoo's AW12 trends; Utility Luxe (think military, khaki and animal print), Jewellery Box (sequins, velvet and jewels!), Baroque & Roll (black & gold, leather and brocade) and Manhattan Lady (pastels, ladylike chic, boucle jackets).

Accessories were just as covetable, I think we all cooed over the Diva Black Dalmatian boots, £35 which would be perfect with this season's berry coloured trousers! My Galaxy definitely preferred taking photos of the still objects but I still tried a few Best Photo shots because the light kept changing as the area crowded. You can tell that it works so much better with good light and in uncrowded areas as demonstrated by the clear as day pic of the luxe gold mock croc clutch bag. I think I'll be saving the feature for outdoor work in future, or indoor close ups.

It was a really fun night, and it's so good to see events like this coming to Liverpool, where fashion is SUPER important! To see more of the BooHoo.com key AW12 trends head to the Trends page on the webby, and while you're there don't forget to check out the new Boutique collection - it's AMAZING, so different and stylish whilst still maintaining that BooHoo price point we all know and love!

Huge thanks to the BooHoo team for inviting me and showing me around the collection!
