HCUK Salons - Home of J's New Hair God!

Sunday 3 April 2011

So, anyone that knows me knows that I've trusted my locks to the same hair god of a MAJOR salon chain for ooohhh, a good 12 years now, so I'm not easily swayed when it comes to change BUT last week I was invited to sample the talents of my local branch of HCUK (Warrington in case you live near me!) - and I LOVED it!!

The salon was smart and clean, with a ton of much coveted professional products such as Regis and TIGI on the shelves and reception was super friendly so I instantly felt important. I was scheduled in with Lee, a Master Stylist (an understatement on par with describing our lord RPattz as a bit of a looker!) with extensive experience with the chain. He was adorable, friendly and stylish, and I felt an immediate rapport with him and his ideas which helped me relax into the session and ready to enjoy a bit of much needed hair pampering (it was raining outside and I'd had a bad hair day for about umm, 5 days prior to the appointment!).

We chatted effortlessly through my shampoo and condition (which was a yummy, warm scalp massage btw!) and then he set to work on the cut. My hair has only been this short since christmas 2010, so I'm still learning about how to control and style it, and I was actually thinking of growing it out into a bob because I was finding it increasingly difficult to love it, until Lee showed me a ton of cool ways to change it up using different products and tools, and even simple things like changing my part, which I had previously thought was a no go with a style like mine! My fringe has always been a nuisance for me, I can never get it to fall right but Lee showed me a few tricks to keep it in place and I have to admit, it's worked every day since my sesssion, hurrah!

Please excuse my gammy smile on this, focus on the hair people!

Not once did Lee try to talk me into anything, or convince me that I needed something I wasn't keen on, I really got the sense that he just wanted to do the best that he could for my hair. His blowdry was impeccable and I loved the end result. I felt glam, but more importantly I felt confident that I could easily recreate what he had done because I was now armed with loads of tips and ideas to try at home, which trust me, have all been successful!

HCUK have their own blog, check it out here for news and ideas!

You can't argue with the pricing structure and the talent is obviously high. I will definitely go back to HCUK and Lee for my next cut. I went straight home and took the pics for our Wildfox Astrology Fox and Pixie posts because when your hair is that good you have to seize all the photo ops you can! I've found a new hair god to play with, maybe you can find one too!

J - All hail the new hair god.
