Grab A Bargain On The Move With The #SecretPsycheSale!

Friday 31 July 2015

Psyche is an award winning designer fashion store based in Middlesbrough, but ships worldwide via their online site. Since opening they have collected a ton of fashion awards from the likes of Drapers, The Times, Vogue, GQ and Harrods, and was one of the first boutiques to launch online back in 1997! The website has recently enjoyed an upgrade, making it one of the best online shopping experiences a label lover can have, with interactive features, an unmatched product offer and outstanding customer service from beginning to end.

We head to Psyche to check out brands like Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans, Ralph Lauren, J Brand, Maison Scotch and Ted Baker, for both ourselves and the menfolk, and we like nothing more than when the sale drops (who doesn't?!) so it is with GREAT enthusiasm that we are pleased to announce the #SecretPsycheSale

This #SecretPsycheSale gives you an extra 10% off their already low sale prices BUT, and here's the dealio, the special discount code is only available to view when you view the online store on your mobile or tablet, so you can grab a bargain on the run! Seriously, we don't even know what it is yet, it's SUPER top secret! The sale starts 1st August and runs to the end of the month 31st August, so there's plenty of time to get online on your travels and nab yourself something pretty!

We have definitely got our eyes on the prize, with these pieces being our stand out link saves. Either of our fashion loving guys could rock this cute Boss camper van tee, and with V Festival just around the corner T could easily fit in one more pair of wellies like these Ralph Lauren's! I'm in love with these loose relaxed Armani Jeans zebra trousers and classic every season leopard UGG shoes! Finally, there's still plenty of summer left for this Ted Baker bikini for us and Havaianas flip flops for them. And all of these bits will have an extra 10% off if I pop online via my iPad from my bed. Hurrah!

So heads up, and please do pass on the #SecretPsycheSale info and help your designer loving friends save some cashola (they do kidswear too by the way - squeee!)! See you there!

Sili Sunglasses Review: Indestructible Sunnies?

Thursday 30 July 2015

Some friends of ours had a BBQ a few weeks back and they were wearing some super cool new sunglasses. They started telling us about the brand - Sili sunglasses - and how they are polarised, flexible and completely custom made. I fell in love with the wayfarer shape and my friend's tortoise shell design and Sam was intrigued by the removable arms...Yes, removable arms!

So the theory is, if you sit on them, the arms will just pop off! They are *almost* indestructible. I am ALWAYS sitting on my sunglasses, when we go on holiday I have to leave my designer pairs at home because I will break them. These new sunnies are pretty darn genius.

JORD Ely and Delmar Wood Watches Review

Both Sam & I are watch addicts. I feel completely naked without a watch, I know the kids of today aren't even interested in wearing them but I hate looking at my phone for the time, I want to look at a pretty watch!

Last year I spotted JORD watches popping up on a few of my favourite blogs and until then, I had no idea wooden watches existed. There's something so beautiful about these unusual watches, the 100% natural wood is sustainably sourced from across the world and their styles are available in various different types.

We absolutely love featuring our men on the blog and recently Sam was asked to take part in a new men's suit styling challenge with Marks and Spencer. M&S have such a fantastic range of suits - all the men in my life have suits from them, including Sam!

Sam has quite a casual style but he loves wearing suits and getting dressed up for special occasions. He always prefers a slim fit suit because the cut is much more flattering for his slender frame. It's also more modern.

Superga x Liberty London - Liberty Art Fabrics!

I hope I never get bored of double denim. I've been wearing a lot of 'samesy' outfits recently so I fancied going for something a little different by throwing on some casual statement pieces. I've really started getting into trainers recently, my collection is growing and I'm always drawn to unusual styles, especially if they're colourful or have an interesting print on them.

Superga have recently launched their Liberty Art Fabrics 2750 collection which is exclusively available at Office Shoes. My other pair of Liberty print sneakers are from Office, so I guess they're the go-to shoe shop for hella cool statement prints!

These are my first pair of Superga's so I opted for the size 7 which is actually bit big for me, I'd say they run true to size because I needed the 6.5! As I'm not familiar with Superga, I wasn't expecting them to be quite so heavy... They have a decent weight to them which I actually really like - the soles are impressive. These Liberty Kem shoes are ultra girly and I think they look cool paired with my turquioise Hudson Jeans.

The Liberty Art Fabrics collection is available in Office shoes stores and online. There are 3 exclusive styles in this collection which are certainly worth checking out if you're a Liberty fan. I fancy these ones in blue!

Do you wear Superga? Do you like Liberty's prints?

T - 2750s are a way of life.

Sugarhill boutique is one of my favourite brands, they stock a wide range of beautiful frocks with vintage-inspired prints and everything is designed from their studio in Brighton! For Autumn they've experimented with some unique prints and bright colour block designs. My top pick from the new collection is this Francesca Colour Block Dress, it's a great statement piece and has a flattering tunic shape. Beautiful.

Bridal Make-up With MAC and Illamasqua At Metquarter Liverpool! #weddingwednesday

Wednesday 22 July 2015

So as you probably know, Tara and I are both getting married next year, and there's a ton of decisions to be made regarding budget. One of the things I've been toying with is doing away with the obligatory make-up artist in favour of being my own for the day. I've heard a lot of brides say that doing their own make-up on the day gave them a sense of control and helped them feel like they looked more like themselves, so whilst I guess it's a personal choice every bride has to make for herself, it's something I'm definitely considering because I think I'm pretty handy with the old rouge!

So with this in mind, I've teamed up with one of my fave local shopping haunts, Metquarter Liverpool, to put my handiwork to the test! Everything I've used in this post is from MAC and Illamasqua (both stores can be found on their ground floor) to create a bridal look that suits me. Brace yourselves for a full kit rundown before we start!

  • MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation - NW20
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer - NW15
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium
  • Illamasqua Powder Blusher - S.O.P.H.I.E.
  • MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow - Peachluxe
  • Illamasqua Eye Colouring Pencil - VOW
  • MAC False Lashes Mascara
  • Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel - Stare
  • MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolour - Clingpeach

I've always wanted my look to be classic bridal glow and our wedding colours are orange, ivory and black, so I chose these warm peachy shimmery tones with this in mind.

A good base is essential. You want it to last all day, or at least until the break between the sit down and the party when you can refresh, so I chose the tried and tested MAC Pro Longwear foundation and concealer combo, applied with brushes. They truly live up to the hype, and I wouldn't trust anything else to do the job on my big day. You do get a true matte finish from these two products though, so to give my face that much coveted bridal dew I finished with the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish powder, pressed on with a puff, then buffed to perfection. And my canvas is ready!

Next I tackled the bridal glow! Illamasqua's Powder Blusher is highly pigmented and long lasting. S.O.P.H.I.E. is a beautiful pink/peach with gold shimmer, perfect for my colour palette but you need a light touch because the colour is very dense on application! Using a large blusher brush, I applied it in light layers to my cheeks and cheekbones to give a flush of colour that should last until the wine kicks in ;)

Bridal eyes can be tricky. I want them to stand out and look beautiful but still look naturally accentuated rather than heavily made up. A lot of women avoid glitter and shimmer on their wedding day, but I love a bit of sparkle so I'm embracing it with the MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion palette in Peachluxe. It has everything I need to create a gorgeous marry me stare! It's so easy to use. I used the palest ivory pink to highlight under my brow, then the beige/peach shimmer was applied all over to the lid. The lid was covered in the darker peach, with the outer corners and crease darkened with the light brown. The dark brown was used to line my upper and lower lashlines. I prefer to use a shadow to line as I'm after a soft look and pencil can be a bit harsh (and hard to maintain on a long day!). Finally, a slick of Illamasqua Eye Colouring Pencil in VOW, a pale cream, was applied to my inner lower lid. Some people like to use white, but I think this cream colour is a more discreet way of opening it up. I want him to be staring into my eyes, not wondering if I have an iron deficiency.

Now I know a lot of brides will opt for falsies on the day, and I still might too, but for purposes of this cosmetic based look I decided to just use mazzy, and MAC's False Lashes does exactly what it says on the tube so you can't go wrong! My brows are filled in and held with Illamasqua's amazing Precision Brow Gel in Stare, their darkest shade, instantly upping my game. A lot of women do their eye make-up before their base to avoid spillage and smears, but I like to do it afterwards. You just have to be careful with clever use of powder and tissues.

Finally, the lippy! Again I hit the MAC Pro Longwear range, and chose their lipcolour in Clingpeach, a peachy nude. You have to remember that your lippy will look lighter when photographed (all your make-up will actually) so it's important to go a shade darker that you would ideally like. I adore orange lipstick but I think it might be a bit too much against my dress, and I also love a good nude lip but this would wash out in a photo. Clingpeach is the perfect combination of the two, and the Pro Longwear formula literally does not come off. I'm not joking, I have to remove it with waterproof make-up remover. Good stuff to have around when you're kissing the world on the cheek!

And that's it! For a bit of fun I grabbed a lacy strapped dress and tiara clip from my wardrobe so we can all get a good idea of how it would look on the day, what do you think? I'm really happy with it :) To be fair, I was working with some pretty amazing products but I'm really impressed with myself!

I adore a good browse around Metquarter, and I'm totally considering heading into their MAC and Illamasqua stores for some professional tutorials if I do decide to go it alone for the big day, it can't hurt to get some expert tips and those guys are veritable artists! Who knows, maybe I'll be doing my bridesmaids faces too ;)

If you've enjoyed this and you'd like to know more about Metquarter Liverpool, head to their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages for more fashion and beauty inspiration and edits.

J - here comes the bride!

The #LittleColourfulDress at Work With Dove Invisible Dry!

Tuesday 21 July 2015

And onto the next one! This is my second look in the Dove Invisible Dry Little Colourful Dress Challenge, and this time I'm making it WORK!

I am totally guilty of werking the boring work pants office look. They're usually black or grey, and while I occasionally funk it up with a bright shirt or cardigan, I rarely do colour from head to toe so this was actually a real challenge for me - to create a wearable #LCD work outfit, but I think we pulled it off. To the outfit . . .

Manchester International Festival With Boohoo.com

Monday 20 July 2015

I live slap bang in between Manchester and Liverpool and it's no secret that I favour Liverpool as my 'home' city, however that doesn't mean to say that I'm not interested in what lies down the other side of the M62! So when Boohoo.com invited me to take a little tour of Manchester as part of the Manchester International Festival I thought it would be a nice day out with the other half, and a chance for us to get to know the place a bit better outside of Selfridges and the Arndale.

Launching in 2007, MIF is the world's first festival of original, new work and special events and takes place every two years in Manchester. This year's festival featured FKA Twigs, Damon Albarn and Bjork, amongst a ton of vibrant and innovative acts and guests.

Manchester International Festival

What I saw . . . Parts of the city that as a shopping or concert visitor I had never experienced before. The beautiful library and churches that I would never have visited otherwise, bronze statues I might normally walk past without a glance and backstreet walkways that looked like Diagon Alley! Crazy tombs that are just right next to modern pubs and shops, underground war bunkers that to be honest, I thought we were never going to come out of alive (!), and the gorgeous space of the Royal Exchange Theatre.

What I wore . . . Boohoo kitted me out so I'd look like a local (though the incessant camera phoning and scouse lilt might've gave me away ahem). I chose the fab Mia Mid Rise Boyfriend Jeans which I love and are now only £10 in the sale, they look pretty cool and the rip placements are perf! I also chose the Cerys Crochet Trim Open Shoulder Top, also now in the sale for £14, frosting with the Cecilia Floral Festival Crochet Cardigan £12, to keep the chill off my shoulders and a trusty Mi Moneda pendant to bring out the blues in the top.

It was a really nice day and we had a giggle acting like tourists! The festival has finished now but it did open my eyes to the amazing places that are on my doorstep if I step out of my comfort zone. Huge thanks to Boohoo.com for the opp and the look!

Oasis LCD with Dove Invisible Dry!

Another day, another occasion wear dress! This gorgeous green number from Oasis was going to be wedding guest outfit for next month, until I met the blue one I featured on Monday. I'm still a big fan of it, it has a really nice fit and is another sale bargain! Huzzah.

This is my second outfit in the Dove Little Colourful Dress Challenge series. My Dove deodorant was put to the test again but this Madison Embellished Crepe Dress was left spotless, with no white marks!

Dove LCD Blogger Challenge
Oasis Madison Embellished Crepe Dress
Dove Invisible Dry Marks ReviewOasis dress: c/o Dove - Sandals: Next

I think green is quite a flattering colour on me because of my dark hair and fair skin. I've always felt more confident in bright colours and as much as I love wearing black, if I want cheering up or need a confidence boost, I'll wear something colourful!

As I mentioned in my previous post, Dove want more women to feel colour confident and have teamed with some experts Alex Longmore and Natalie Thomas to help encourage the nation! The Dove Invisible Dry anti-perspirant has been tested on a whopping 100 colours, so you don't need to worry about ghastly white marks. It's available nationwide and is really affordable.

I think this is a great campaign, in my previous job, I came across a lot of women who were scared to wear particular colours, I don't discriminate - I just go for it! When I was working one day I had a woman tell me I needed to apply some fake tan because of what I was wearing. I'm extremely happy in my skin so I could just laugh it off but it does annoy me when women say things like, "Ooooh, I'd wear that with a tan!"

We all need to be more confident in our own skin and if we like a colour, just wear it.

Are you scared of wearing bright colours? Would you wear this dress?

T - Feeling relaxed in green.

Womens Nike Air Max Thea White Review!

Wednesday 15 July 2015

My Nike Air Max obsession continues! Today I'm sporting my latest pair, these white Nike Air Max Thea trainers from Foot Locker. I used to shop in Foot Locker all the time as a teen, I haven't heard much about them in recent times but I'm glad they're starting to gain a bit more of an online presence in the UK because I've missed them. Do their sales assistants still wear those stripey referee-esque shirts? I sure hope so.

I think this all white style is really chic, I take good care of my sneakers so these will remain sparkly white for quite some time! I paired them with my Oasis orchid patched stripe cami I bought in the sale, and my favourite Lily high waisted jeans every other blogger seems to own.

Nike trainers run true to size but I would say these feel a little narrower than normal, which is perfect for me. They are lightweight and comfortable. I now want them in every other colour . . . starting with black! There's just something about air max's, wouldn't you agree? They are the most comfortable trainers! Foot Locker has some pretty rawrsome styles on sale at the moment if you fancy grabbing yourself a bargain.

Are you a fan of these Nike trainers? How do you style yours?

T - Blinding peeps with my fresh sneaks.

The Casual Little Colourful Dress with Dove Invisible Dry!

Tuesday 14 July 2015

Wearing bright colours really cheers me up and it might sound a little cliche, but for me colour = confidence!

Dove recently launched a new Invisible Dry Anti-Perspirant range proven to leave no white marks on 100 different colours, and as mentioned in Tara's post last week, a recent Dove Colour Confidence Poll revealed a massive 63% of British women would opt for an LBD over a LCD. Personally, I think that's a bit nuts. Yes, an LBD is timeless and sexy, but did 80's crooning ledge Chris De Burgh sing about a headturning lady in black who was dancing with him? *cheek to cheek* NOPE. Case closed ;)

Orange is probably my favourite colour and I find it incredibly easy to wear for some reason, I just gravitate to it! This Warehouse dress is technically a beach cover up, but it's far too cute to be thrown on over a bikini 2 weeks a year and then shelved. It's perfect for these hot summer days as it's bright and breezy, with just the right amount of boho styling to play with. I've teamed it with my fringed suede ankle boots (also from Warehouse), a cute Johnny Loves Rosie headband and some trusty Mi Moneda (OBVIO), and I'm feeling spicy!

Outfit: Dress - Warehouse c/o Dove, Boots - Warehouse, Headband - Johnny Loves Rosie, Necklace - Mi Moneda, Watch - Daniel Wellington.

Dove Invisible Dry #LittleColourfulDress

This is the sort of thing I'd wear to go shopping, or to meet friends for a catch up in town or the park. It's a fairly simple outfit with only a few components, but the bright colour and flattering cut of the dress makes me feel fab. Combine this with the personal confidence supplied by the top notch Dove Invisible Dry deodorant and I'm set for whatever the day may bring!

How do you feel about the LCD vs LBD? Would this dress be better in black or are you down with the orange like me? :)

Darling Candice Dress at Lilac Rose!

Monday 13 July 2015

It's wedding season and the first of my friends are getting married next month! Of course this is all very exciting and I'm looking forward to sharing their special day with them. Finding a stylish occasion wear dress can be particularly tough when you don't want to turn up wearing the same frock as someone else.

I'm always looking for new boutiques, so when I heard of Lilac Rose, I headed straight to their dress section! When it comes to buying special pieces, I prefer shopping online and avoiding the high street. This fashionable new store stocks some of the prettiest brands around including Louche, Fever and Darling

I opted for the Darling Candice Dress which fits like a glove and runs true to size (this is an 8). I definitely think this dress is *the one* I'll go for, I love how it fits and the colour is so striking! I've never owned anything by Darling before but it's now officially a brand I'm going to keep an eye on.

Lilac Rose has such a wide range of clothing and accessories, and their Estella Bartlett selection is too cute for words! If you're looking for a new boutique to buy from, this could be the one. I'm actually thinking about ordering one or two birthday gifts from them! Those paper plane pieces...

What's your favourite item from Lilac Rose?

T - Feeling elegant.

The Little Colourful Dress Challenge With Dove Invisible Dry!

Thursday 9 July 2015

I absolutely love wearing colourful dresses! When it comes to style, I'm all about statement pieces and when I wear a bold frock, I feel more confident.

Dove recently launched a new Invisible Dry Anti-Perspirant range proven to leave no white marks on 100 different colours, and to celebrate this launch we've been asked to take part in their LCD (Little Colourful Dress) campaign! As mentioned in Jade's post yesterday, a recent Dove Colour Confidence Poll revealed a massive 63% of British women would opt for an LBD over a LCD. In order to encourage more women to embrace colour and ditch the black, Dove have teamed up with fashion stylist Alex Longmore who has some great tips on wearing colour!

Alex believes wearing black clothing can make our complexion look dull and wants us to be brave when it comes to wearing colour and just go for it! Opting for brights can make you feel more confident and colourful dresses work well for both special occasions and general everyday wear.

I don't really need much encouragement when it comes to wearing bright shades but I spotted this lemon lace shift dress from Oasis and knew I needed it in my summer wardrobe! It's currently on sale and is an absolute bargain - it's the type of dress I'd wear to either a wedding, or on date night.

I can confirm that after a good few hours, there were no white marks in sight! I've been wearing Dove deodorant for years and this one works wonders (RRP £2.30 - £3.79 at Boots).

Do you have a lot of colour in your wardrobe? Would you wear this dress?

T - Will be rockin' brights all summer long.
