Embracing Colour With Dove Invisible Dry! #LittleColourfulDress

Wednesday 8 July 2015

A recent poll commissioned by Dove revealed that two thirds of British women would choose an LBD for an event due to it's rep as a timeless classic, rather than embracing colour. Body confidence is also cited as the key factor steering women away from wearing colourful clothes, yet almost two thirds of UK women say that wearing a colourful dress makes them feel happier and more confident compares to when they wear a black dress. Mind bottling right?

Coinciding with the launch of the Dove Invisible Dry anti-perspirant range (RRP £2.30 - £3.79 at Boots), a new line of deodorants proven to leave no white marks on 100 colours, Dove has partnered with stylist Alex Longmore to encourage women to embrace a little more feel good colour in their wardrobe. Alex says, 'Colour makes us feel so happy, is super flattering and there is a range of hues to suit every skin tone', and she believes that wearing colour is a statement of confidence that sends out a much better impression to those around us. Int-er-est-innnnnng. I have never been one to shy away from colour (my wardrobe is literally full of it in every form) and neither has Tara, so we were stoked to be asked to take part in the Dove Invisible Dry #LittleColourfulDress campaign, challenging us to produce a series of blog posts about how colour fits into our fashion lives!

This post is about some of my fave colourful pieces, the ones that make me feel good and instantly brighten my mood, even just laying them out for pics made me smile as I sang the rainbow song to myself to work out the order - red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and bluuuuuuuuuuuue!

This is my new orange sundress from Warehouse, which I'll be wearing in a future post for you, so consider this a sneak peek. It's truly ORANGE, but I can't fail to feel like an international bright young thing when I put it on. It makes me twirl and it makes me smile at people for no apparent reason, and neither of these are bad life choices imo.

Here we have a selection of pieces that I love for different reasons.
  • The coral suede shoes are from Topshop and I feel so yummy in them for reasons I can't really place other than they are comfy (for stillies!) and a pretty colour!
  • I often pair the lime cardi with the matching Hummel trainers, usually with black trousers for work. The cardi ALWAYS reels in the compliments, I think maybe it's so bright that it lights up my face, I don't know :)
  • The pink dress and purple/pink bag is for when I'm feeling feminine, often seen at garden parties and christenings. I'm rarely seen in such girly attire so when I break this combo out, I think I also release the confidence to compensate for looking like a delicate flower.
  • The green silk dress was a gift from my fiance and it makes me feel loved, mainly because he bought me it, but also because the jewel coloured silk feels nice against my skin, like a strangely sexy and very flattering comfort blanket!
  • The blue chiffon shirt from Dorothy Perkins is my fave bit of office attire, it's sheer but sharp, and I feel super capable when I have it on.

Finally, my Mojoos shoes. The colour is officially called Flaming Coral, and boy are they fierce, but sooooooo pretty, especially when worn with other bright colours as seen here against my orange dress. I want to immediately wear them together and do my twirling thing. See?! Blimmin' colour confidence! ;)

We have been wearing Dove Invisible Dry for weeks now, with all of these colours and more, and can confirm that it does indeed live up to the claims - as invisible on the most regal purple as it is on the prettiest lemon yellow. However, there is a lot more testing to do yet, 4 outfit scenarios to be exact! How will it fair against a stressful day at the office in blue, or a hot and steamy date night in green? All will be revealed soon!

  3. I've been using the Dove spray since last November, and it's terrific. Absolutely no trace of the product on my clothes. Works well too.
