Nica Handbags AW14 Press Day + Interview!

Saturday 5 April 2014

On Thursday, Steph and I headed to London to attend the Autumn/Winter 2014 Nica Handbags press dayI really love Nica bags and I've been wearing them for years, so it was really exciting to meet the team behind the brand and the head designer, Nica Kim! I was given the chance to interview Nica in a live Twitter Q&A which you may have seen if you follow us.

There were lots of lovely new styles on display, the AW14 collection is all about intricate detailing, unique prints and pieces which tell a story.

Nica AW14 Lauren Grab Bag

I would happily take one of each but my favourite bags were the 3 Lizzy Mini Grab bags (I need the metallic one), and the above Lauren Grab bag. This proved the most popular bag of the day and it's also designer Nica's favourite! It comes in a selection of colours but my favourite is the delicious blue haze shade which you can see hiding in the background. Tasty.

I interviewed Nica Kim for over an hour but I think her most interesting answer was to the following question:

Although she couldn't fit her full response into 140 characters, Nica explained how the street she lives on in London inspires her. She takes inspiration from her local flower shop, coffee shop and everything around her. She was so passionate when she spoke and explained she's also influenced by her hometown Seoul, South Korea. The fox hardware on her bags was inspired by a poem which I just found so cute. Steph loved the little fox because he reminded her of her beautiful husky, Nico. Awww!

It was also fascinating to learn how Nica began. Nica Kim won an internship with TLG brands who loved her designs, and in 2005 they created Nica handbags. Since then, the company has gone on to become a global success but despite this, she's still very sweet and even a little shy.

Huge thanks to the Nica team for inviting us, we had such a fun day! Have you heard of Nica before? Which bag is your favourite?
