Big Hair with Phil Smith products!

Sunday 15 August 2010

I have long, thick hair so it's not majorly difficult to make it look big, but keeping it up there is a different matter because it's so heavy. This is my tried and tested party look, curled with heated rollers, but it rarely stays like this longer than it takes me to down my first drink. Anyhoo, yesterday I tried some products from my new stash of Phil Smith products, and admittedly, I may have been a little over enthusiastic with the amount of potions I used in one do, but hey, it worked!

I started with shampooing and conditioning with the previously reviewed Be Gorgeous Big It Up Shampoo and Conditioner duo. After towel drying I then worked in the Xtreme Style Xpanding Thickening Cream , £3.99, it's designed for short to medium length hair but I still feel it works on my long hair too! It's very light and conditions the hair whilst providing humidity retardants to help protect your style from drooping so I thought, why not?!

On top of that, I then sprayed in some Xtreme Style Xplosive Volume Spray, £3.99, at the roots prior to blow drying.

Blowing my hair was easy and I didn't feel any stickiness, but it did feel huge! If I didn't want curls I could've easily have styled it straight and gone out like that but being a sucker for big curls, in went the big heated rollers! Once in, I sprayed my head with the Xtreme Style Hairspray,£3.99. When the rollers came out, the hold on the curls was amazing. Just for good measure I gave them another quick blast of hairspray again! I'm used to them dropping almost straight away but they bounced away and refused to drop, even when I had to blow my fringe again! The volume from the root was fab, but natural. 80's Cindy Crawford was not the look I was going for ;)

SO, the style stayed with me all night and this morning, would you believe it, the curls are still there and most importantly, my hair doesn't feel gunky or greasy, which is amazing considering the amount of product I put onto it yesterday! In fact, I'm loving this next day look so much, I'm not going to wash it today - which is SO not me, my hair usually needs washing everyday! RESULT!

And there are still more products to test, including a seasalt spray and a dry shampoo but so far, SO impressed! Thanks Phil! ;)
