You can't buy style baby, but at Kennedy Purple you sure can hire it!

I have just had an amazing designer experience courtesy of the lovely Joanne at www.kennedypurple.com, where you can rent luxury designer bags, accessories and even jewellery for a teeny tiny fraction of the RRP, and I am now a big fan so of course I want to share!

I got chatting to Joanne via Twitter, where we somehow started talking about a time I was longing for an Angel Jackson belt to go with one particular dress for a New Years Eve ball I was attending, but I didn't buy it because I didn't want to drop £130 on a belt at that time in my life. Instead, I bought a Miss Selfridge 'copy' and hated life for the entire evening I was forced to wear it! Had I known at that time that I could actually RENT the Angel Jackson belt from her company...well, problem solved! I had heard of various rent-a-bag services a la SATC, but I didn't know you could rent accessories! Aswell as the Angel Jackson Jaguar belt, KP has other hot pieces such as McQueen scarves, Louis V shawls and YSL belts - eeeek! So Joanne kindly offered to give me the full Kennedy Purple experience and I hired the most coveted belt for a week (which would normally cost just £10 for the week, or £35 for a whole month of belt fondling!), and here's the rundown :)

The belt hired was the Angel Jackson Violet Jaguar Belt. It arrived by Special Delivery, wrapped beautifully in protective boxes tied with branded ribbon, it felt special already :) Along with the belt the box contained a welcome letter with full details and instructions, a few business cards to share with friends (done!) and a cute little cosmetic bag for me to keep (thanks!), it was all very organised and neat.

The belt itself, all £130 worth of it, was in excellent condition, hardly a scratch on that precious jaguar body, you could definitely get away with saying you had recently purchased it if anyone asked! A beautiful purple snakeskin with gold jaguar and chain, it was just as gorgeous as I knew it would be.

And so to try it on, the dress I had originally wanted it for had long since moved on because without the belt, it was worn once and unloved. So instead, I tried it with a high waisted L.A.M.B. skirt and sheer coral top. Excuse the close ups, BF wasn't around and I suck at angling a camera! Still, it looked AMAZING with the skirt and I must admit to prancing around the house for most of the night looking like a Desperate Housewife!
The next day I simply wrapped it around some jeans and wore a loose tee to go shopping, and kept a sneaky look out for jealous side eyes. I caught one girl eyeing it up and I got a smug 'Look what I have' feeling, nothing quite like the satisfaction of catching secret accessory envy.

Ever so careful not to 'overwear' it in case of damage I took it off after shopping and left it in the box on my bed. My friend came around to borrow a book, walked into my room and straight away said 'Oh my god, you didn't?!' Me - 'No I didn't' as I handed her a KP card! I swear, we were like Davina and her blonde mate from the hair colour ad, I gushed about KP so hard you would've thought that belt covered all my grey hairs with one wrap of it's purple gorgeousness lol! Steph later pointed out to me that KP has the uber expensive Timmy Woods Eiffel Tower bag that she has loved since the original SATC movie a few years back, I think there may be a future customer there...

On Monday I took a deep breath and wore it for work wrapped around a pair of grey GAP office pants. My boss (a very stylish lady herself who is more than aware of my fashion habits) immediately recognised it as AJ and again asked if I had finally taken the plunge! I explained and showed her a KP card too, and I swear I saw her noseying on the webby at lunchtime ;)

Obviously, the items KennedyPurple rent out have huge RRPs, so there are important T&Cs that you should read carefully before making a 'purchase' such as damage, insurance etc, but if you are a true lover of luxury items there's NO WAY you would do anything to harm the hardware on their little designer heads. I know I treated the belt like it was my own, and although it was difficult to wrench from my kung fu grip at the end of the rental period, I was sure to send it back wrapped securely and insured by Special Delivery so I could also make sure that I returned it to KP by the specified date, and if (god forbid) it got lost in the post, I was fully insured to pay for the value without being out of pocket.

So, Kennedy Purple = Fine Holiday Fun! Big designer snaps at an itty bitty price. Ideal for special occasions, trying before you buy without dodging the sales assistant 'Don't Touch!' death stares or even just treating yourself, or a friend, hop over to www.kennedypurple.com now to see if anything begs you to take it home! :)

Thanks to Kennedy Purple for the experience <3
